Will their love be strong enough to overcome the obstacles that stand in their way, or will the constraints of their worlds tear them apart.

Chapter 1 The Unexpected

Ava Moreno stepped off the bus and onto the sun-scorched pavement, her eyes scanning the crowded streets of Ash wood. She had just finished a long day of work at the local diner, and all she wanted to do was go home, kick off her shoes, and collapse onto her bed. As she walked down the sidewalk, Ava's thoughts were interrupted by the sound of laughter and music drifting from the nearby park. She followed the sound and found herself standing at the edge of a lavish party, complete with champagne toasts and a live band. Ava's eyes widened as she took in the opulent scene before her.

This was definitely not her crowd. She was about to turn and leave when she saw him - Elijah Blackwood, the son of Ashwood's most influential family. Elijah was standing across the lawn, his eyes locked on Ava's as if he could see right through her. For a moment, they just stared at each other, the noise and chaos of the party fading into the background. Ava felt a shiver run down her spine as Elijah began to make his way towards her. She knew she should leave, but her feet seemed rooted to the spot. "Elijah Blackwood," he said, his voice low and smooth, as he reached out to take Ava's hand. Ava felt a jolt of electricity as their palms touched, and she knew in that moment that she was in trouble. Elijah Blackwood was off-limits, forbidden to someone like her. But as she looked into his piercing blue eyes, Ava couldn't help but feel drawn to him. "What brings you to this neck of the woods?" Elijah asked, his eyes never leaving Ava's face. Ava hesitated, unsure of how much to reveal. "Just passing through," she said finally, trying to sound nonchalant. Elijah raised an eyebrow, his expression skeptical. "I don't think so," he said, his voice low and husky. "You're not from around here, are you?"
