: I don't understand, what do you mean I signed a marriage contract. I came here for a job not to be married to someone I haven't even met. Miss Trisha, the secretary said calmly just see this as a once in a lifetime opportunity. You are officially married to Mr Alexander O'Brien and according to the contract you signed if you refuse to acknowledge it or try to bridge the contract you would have to pay for damages and compensation. I knew this job was too good to be true, I thought to myself what have I gotten myself into? Dylan, you did what? How can you find me a wife under such deceit and what type of woman would want to marry someone she hasn't met before? I knew you were up to no good when you volunteered to personally handle the interview for my personal assistant but this is too much. Alex I did all of it because you were finding it difficult to get yourself a girlfriend and I want to see you happy, you look so lonely. Just meet her and if you don't like her was can destroy the contract. She is so simple, she looks so innocent but I know behind that innocent face is a gold digger and I know she came here with a motive and I'm going to find that out!

Entangled( you can run from the past but can you escape it?) Chapter 1 The Beginning

TRISH'S POV

Trish I heard Elle called out but I couldn't respond, my whole feelings felt like I've been pressed down by a force I can't fathom, I guess this is what sleep paralysis feels like. I'm suffocating and I can't move.

ME

Trish, I heard her shout but I can't even answer. Is this how I'm going to die? After everything I've been through, I can't die like this. Don't I deserve to be happy, don't I deserve to be loved?

I can feel my hands moving as the force holding me back subsides. Elle, I'm right here I whispered not sure it was loud enough for her to hear. Thank God she heard me, I heard the doorknob move, and I can move my body. Trish why are you sweating like this, she asked in a voice filled with concern, I am so lucky to have her in my life, she is the best thing that has happened to me since I moved here from LA.

Elle, I thought I was never going to see you again, I was so scared and afraid of dying, leaving you here all by yourself. You're exaggerating Trish, tell me what happened. I've been calling you for over 5 minutes and you didn't answer, I guess you were in a deep slumber. Elle, I just experienced what sleep paralysis felt like, I heard you but I was unable to answer it was like I was being suffocated by the shadows. Don't laugh babe, it isn't funny, I really thought I was going to die. Stop exaggerating, you watch too many scary movies and you sleep hungry so you are bound to have a nightmare. So, let's forget about your sweet nightmare, I come bearing good news. I really hope it is not about another blind date you set me up with unless I'm going to murder you in your sleep. Not that Tee, but you received mail from care.com and I'm sorry I couldn't help myself. I peeked into it.

Elle, it is a bad habit to go through someone else's stuff but I just pray it is good news because this day couldn't get any worse. I'm so sure you would like the news, just open it first and check before jumping into conclusion Tee. I got an interview scheduled for Monday babe, can you imagine? Of course you can, you have seen it before me. I'm so happy at least this day isn't all that bad, and the interview is for the post of the secretary of the chairman, and the salary range is huge. Tee, I'm so happy for you, you should always believe me and always be optimistic, don't doubt too much. Okay, don't nag me too much.I would start being optimistic. I just hope I get the job, the salary would improve our lives greatly.

I've heard that the chairman is very young and handsome, Elle, I need the job and I don't care if he is old and sickly, my only wish is that he isn't a pervert. Miss goody two- shoes, you need to live a little, have fun, explore, make happy memories now that you are in your youth, because once it's passed you would regret it. I know and as much as I am tempted, we have bills that won't pay for themselves and we also need to relocate and also need to take care of ourselves and it won't happen by itself. So let's just pray I get this job, our lives would change drastically. I know that you would get it and I can't wait for you to spoil me when you get your first pay.

I don't even know what I'm going to wear for the Interview, I don't have anything presentable. Tee, don't worry about it, we will go thrift shopping later today so we can find something for you. For now let's have breakfast and rest. So I made toast and coffee. I pray you get the job because I am tired of it already, I can't wait for Monday and I really hope you get it, babe. So we have gotten to the mall and everything we are seeing is over $70 and it is more than our living allowance for a month. Elle, I think we should just leave, I would manage my black skirt and white shirt, we can't afford anything in this store, because even if I get the job, I won't get paid until after a month and we can't feed on grass until then.

Trish, you think too much, I have some savings and don't forget I'm also working and I will get paid this week. We can manage my salary until you get paid. What if I don't get the job? What if we just get these clothes for no reason at all? I'm scared, Elle, I won't lie. You are too pessimistic, I know you would get the job, you have passed the first stage and I know you would also pass this stage. Just have faith, babe, don't doubt yourself too much. You are very much qualified like the other applicants from ivy colleges. Okay, Elle, I've heard what you have said but I have a condition, I would only get new clothes when I pass the interview, until then I'm not. Okay deal, it is so hard to argue with you.

I'm so famished, I wonder how those girls who window shop do it? Because I am so tired, like I want to sleep but I'm also hungry. What should we have for dinner? Let's order pizza babe, it's been so long and before you argue with me about saving money don't worry I have a coupon. Elle, you know me so well, okay I'm calling the pizza place right now.

Hello, we want to get a pizza, a family size, make a cheese pepperoni pizza with lots of cheese, yeah thanks, in how many minutes can we get it, okay thank you.

The pizza will be arriving very soon, I can't wait, I'm so hungry. Let me get to the door, it might be the delivery guy. Okay thank you and enjoy your food. I'm really excited babe, I can't wait for tomorrow where you will be the new secretary to the chairman of care.com. Elle you are too dramatic babe, but I also hope it happens as we wish, I believe it would Tee.

I stood at my mother’s open grave in the freezing rain, my heels sinking into the mud. The space beside me was empty. My husband, Hilliard Holloway, had promised to cherish me in bad times, but apparently, burying my mother didn't fit into his busy schedule. While the priest’s voice droned on, a news alert lit up my phone. It was a livestream of the Metropolitan Charity Gala. There was Hilliard, looking impeccable in a custom tuxedo, with his ex-girlfriend Charla English draped over his arm. The headline read: "Holloway & English: A Power Couple Reunited?" When he finally returned to our penthouse at 2 AM, he didn't come alone—he brought Charla with him. He claimed she’d had a "medical emergency" at the gala and couldn't be left alone. I found a Tiffany diamond necklace on our coffee table meant for her birthday, and a smudge of her signature red lipstick on his collar. When I confronted him, he simply told me to stop being "hysterical" and "acting like a child." He had no idea I was seven months pregnant with his child. He thought so little of my grief that he didn't even bother to craft a convincing lie, laughing with his mistress in our home while I sat in the dark with a shattered heart and a secret life growing inside me. "He doesn't deserve us," I whispered to the darkness. I didn't scream or beg. I simply left a folder on his desk containing signed divorce papers and a forged medical report for a terminated pregnancy. I disappeared into the night, letting him believe he had successfully killed his own legacy through his neglect. Five years later, Hilliard walked into "The Vault," the city's most exclusive underground auction, looking for a broker to manage his estate. He didn't recognize me behind my Venetian mask, but he couldn't ignore the neon pink graffiti on his armored Maybach that read "DEADBEAT." He had no clue that the three brilliant triplets currently hacking his security system were the very children he thought had been erased years ago. This time, I wasn't just a wife in the way; I was the one holding all the cards.

The heavy thud of the release stamp was the only goodbye I got from the warden after five years in federal prison. I stepped out into the blinding sun, expecting the same flash of paparazzi bulbs that had seen me dragged away in handcuffs, but there was only a single black limousine idling on the shoulder of the road. Inside sat my mother and sister, clutching champagne and looking at my frayed coat with pure disgust. They didn't offer a welcome home; instead, they tossed a thick legal document onto the table and told me I was dead to the city. "Gavin and I are getting engaged," my sister Mia sneered, flicking a credit card at me like I was a stray dog. "He doesn't need a convict ex-fiancée hanging around." Even after I saved their lives from an armed kidnapping attempt by ramming the attackers off the road, they rewarded me by leaving me stranded in the dirt. When I finally ran into Gavin, the man who had framed me, he pinned me against a wall and threatened to send me back to a cell if I ever dared to show my face at their wedding. They had stolen my biotech research, ruined my name, and let me rot for half a decade while they lived off my brilliance. They thought they had broken me, leaving me with nothing but an expired chapstick and a few old photos in a plastic bag. What they didn't know was that I had spent those five years becoming "Dr. X," a shadow consultant with five hundred million dollars in crypto and a secret that would bring the city to its knees. I wasn't just a victim anymore; I was a weapon, and I was pregnant with the heir they thought they had erased. I walked into the Melton estate and made an offer to the most powerful man in New York. "I'll save your grandfather's life," I told Horatio Melton, staring him down. "But the price is your last name. I'm taking back what's mine, and I'm starting with the man who thinks he's marrying my sister."
