The room was quiet, the server's room was melodious to Cynthia's ears. Lines of blinking lights showed off her glasses as her fingers were placed on the keyboard. She was deeply inside the system now, hacking through the digital aspect of the global value system, the code that summarizes the worth of every human being on the planet.
"Almost there," she said with a cold voice, with a bead of sweat falling of her jaws
The system has been a dependency of the society for twenty years, explaining every citizen's skills, productivity,and impact to assign them a " true value". For most,it was a death sentence. For few like Adrian Kane, it was a ticket to unimaginable wealth and power. But Cynthia had no interest in riches. She wanted the truth, the dirty secret behind the values where the billionaires of the future were chosen.
Her screen shines. The system logs appeared, a flow of names, bids, and encrypted transactions. Cynthia's heart beats. This was the proof she needed to expose the corruption. She met with her driver for her drive to download the data when the room jumped into darkness.
She became scared . "No, no, no!" she hissed, taking her goggles off as red emergency lights lightened the room.

Cynthia's breath raised. Adrian Kane.

Cynthia adjusted her shoulders, hiding the panic grip at her chest. "If you think you can scare me into stopping, you're wasting your time."
He smiled smugly, stepping closer. "Oh, I don't want to scare you. I want to hire you."
The words hit her like a punch. "Excuse me?"
"You're clearly brilliant," Adrian said, his voice smooth as glass. "And you're not wrong about the system. It is corrupt. But you won't destroy it by searching blindly around the server rooms. If you really want to make an impact, you'll work with me."
Cynthia blinked, her mind racing. Was this a kind of trap? "Why would I trust you? You're part of the problem."
Adrian showed up with a face of anger,with a deep voice says"Don't judge by appearance . As you can see we're in for the same thing and that is to shut down the system . But I need a partner and I see you as one. With your skills and my access, we could rewrite the future."
Cynthia looked at him, out of fear became to stammer loudly in her ears. I wasn't expecting this. She'd come here to expose him, not partner with him. But his words gripped something in her, a dangerous anxiety she couldn't compromise.
"What's in it for you?" she asked, looking slowly into his eyes.
Adrian's lips moved into a slow, calculated smile. "Freedom."
For a moment, the world seemed to hold its breath.
Cynthia breathed in deeply, her resolve wavering. She could run now, try to take him down from the outside. Or she could take the risk of a lifetime and step into the trap.
"Fine," she said, her voice steady. "But if you betray me, I'll terminate you."
Adrian smiled, his eyes gleaming. "I thought as much."
As the emergency lights dimmed and his shadow moved across the room, Cynthia couldn't help but feel like she'd just made a deal with the devil. But maybe, just maybe, this devil was her best chance at salvation.
