The Zanders empire sextuplets
Aretha's POV
Chapter 1
I sat in the car while the driver drove back to the gates of the mansion, the tears in my eyes were getting uncontrollable until I burst into tears, remembering the scornful words of my Aunt and her daughter Raina.
" You're going to get your life ruined by working in that place," my step, Aunt Ana, said when I brought home my work letter.
" You're studying on scholarships and you know and if your grades fall one bit, that's the end of college for you." She said again, blowing air onto her paint-painted fingernails.
I'd been hired to work as a hotel receptionist and help, more like an errand girl, but I didn't mind it.
I needed to source money for my writing classes and the stipends her husband and she gave to me weren't heading anywhere.
Not that they couldn't afford to pay the complete fee for my classes if they wanted to, they just thought it would be more reasonable to squander their money on boujee dates than to sponsor my classes.
So I defied all warnings and started working at the coolest place I've ever seen in my life. " Hotel del Luna".
It felt too good to be true working at the hotel, not only was my work time flexible, I could go and come anytime I wanted, the duration of the time I worked would determine how fat my check pay would be, plus the pay was high, if I worked three months like I originally planned to, I could go on the field trip the writing class had arranged, Plus other extra classes.
I started working on Friday night, 7 am till dawn, I wasn't a night reader so so could work from those hours smoothly.
Work was going great until the head receptionist, walked behind me and told me to head to the bars.
My eyes flew in surprise, I hated bars with every ounce of breath in me and I did anything I could to avoid it.
My uncle was a drunkard and whenever he got into his habits, he'd beat me blue-black but I dared not to make a sound.
They were the only family I had left and any scandalous articles about me would jeopardize my scholarship Chance.
So I always kept mute about it. At this moment I could either go to the bar and serve until daybreak or decline and lose my job, I gulped in and closed my eyes, heaving a heavy sigh, I nodded affirmative and headed to the bar.
"She filled me with the necessary information I'd be needing with the personnel that was about to come, apparently he was a big shot and someone I couldn't bear to offend.
" And I want you to know Aretha, never, I mean do not ever object to whatever he asks you to do, he could buy this hotel a billion times over, and with a flick of his fingers he'd terminate your life if he wants to, so steer clear of any type of mistakes. " I wouldn't let my traumatizing memories that had been caused by my uncle follow me to my place of work.
