"When Alessia becomes the maid for Marco, a powerful mafia boss, she's drawn into a world of danger and secrecy. As they grow closer, Alessia must choose between her heart and her morals. Can their forbidden love survive, or will it be destroyed by the darkness surrounding them?"

The Mafias maid Chapter 1 The job

Alessia stood outside the grand mansion, her heart racing with anticipation and fear.

She had never been one for domestic work, but desperation had driven her to this point. The once-manicured lawn now seemed overgrown, and the sound of crickets provided an eerie background hum.

As she raised her hand to knock on the door, it swung open, revealing a tall, imposing figure.

"Can I help you?" he asked gruffly, eyeing her up and down.

Alessia swallowed hard, trying to composed herself. "I'm here about the maid position," she replied, trying to sound confident.

The man raised an eyebrow. "You're the one who called earlier?"

Alessia nodded. "Yes, that's me."

He stepped aside, allowing her to enter. "Follow me."

As she trailed behind him, Alessia couldn't help but notice the opulent decor. Marble floors, crystal chandeliers, and expensive artwork adorned the walls. This was definitely a mansion fit for a king – or in this case, a mafia boss.

The man led her to a spacious office, where a tall, dark-haired figure sat behind a massive desk. He looked up, his piercing blue eyes locking onto hers.

"Ah, Alessia," he said, his deep voice sending shivers down her spine. "Welcome."

Alessia felt a flutter in her chest as she approached the desk. There was something about this man that commanded attention, something that made her feel like he could see right through her.

"I'm Marco," he said, his eyes never leaving hers. "And you're here about the maid position."

Alessia nodded, trying to composed herself. "Yes, that's right."

Marco leaned back in his chair, steepling his fingers together. "I must say, you're not what I expected."

Alessia raised an eyebrow. "What did you expect?"

Marco smiled, a small, enigmatic smile. "Someone older, more experienced. You're...young."

Alessia felt a surge of defensiveness. "I'm twenty-two," she said, trying to sound confident. "And I'm perfectly capable of doing the job."

Marco chuckled, the sound sending shivers down her spine. "I'm sure you are," he said. "But this isn't just any job, Alessia. This is a job that requires discretion, loyalty, and a certain...flexibility."

Alessia felt a shiver run down her spine as Marco's eyes seemed to bore into hers. She knew that she was taking a risk by working for a mafia boss, but she was desperate. She needed the job, and she was willing to do whatever it took to keep it.

"I understand," she said, trying to sound calm. "I'm willing to do whatever it takes to prove myself."

Marco smiled again, this time with a hint of approval. "I like your spirit, Alessia," he said. "I think you'll do just fine here."

As Marco nodded to the man who had let her in, Alessia felt a surge of relief. She had gotten the job.

But as she turned to leave, Marco's voice stopped her. "Alessia?"

She turned back to him, her heart racing. "Yes?"

Marco's eyes seemed to bore into hers. "Remember, discretion is key. What happens in this house, stays in this house."

Alessia felt a shiver run down her spine as she nodded. She knew that she was getting in over her head, but she was willing to do whatever it took to keep the job.

As she left the office, Alessia couldn't shake the feeling that she was making a deal with the devil himself.

Over the next few days, Alessia settled into her new routine. She woke up every morning at 5 am, got dressed, and made her way to the kitchen to start her day.

The kitchen was a large, modern space with sleek appliances and marble countertops. Alessia was tasked with cooking meals for Marco and his associates, as well as keeping the house spotless.

As she worked, Alessia couldn't help but notice the strange comings and goings. Men in suits would arrive at all hours of the night, and Alessia would catch snippets of their conversations. They spoke of shipments and deliveries, of debts and payments.

Alessia knew that Marco was involved in some shady dealings, but she tried not to think about it too much. She was here to do a job, and that's exactly what she was going to do.

As the days turned into weeks, Alessia grew more comfortable in her role. She learned the ins and outs of the house, and she even started to enjoy the quiet moments to herself.

But despite her growing comfort, Alessia couldn't shake

I stood at my mother’s open grave in the freezing rain, my heels sinking into the mud. The space beside me was empty. My husband, Hilliard Holloway, had promised to cherish me in bad times, but apparently, burying my mother didn't fit into his busy schedule. While the priest’s voice droned on, a news alert lit up my phone. It was a livestream of the Metropolitan Charity Gala. There was Hilliard, looking impeccable in a custom tuxedo, with his ex-girlfriend Charla English draped over his arm. The headline read: "Holloway & English: A Power Couple Reunited?" When he finally returned to our penthouse at 2 AM, he didn't come alone—he brought Charla with him. He claimed she’d had a "medical emergency" at the gala and couldn't be left alone. I found a Tiffany diamond necklace on our coffee table meant for her birthday, and a smudge of her signature red lipstick on his collar. When I confronted him, he simply told me to stop being "hysterical" and "acting like a child." He had no idea I was seven months pregnant with his child. He thought so little of my grief that he didn't even bother to craft a convincing lie, laughing with his mistress in our home while I sat in the dark with a shattered heart and a secret life growing inside me. "He doesn't deserve us," I whispered to the darkness. I didn't scream or beg. I simply left a folder on his desk containing signed divorce papers and a forged medical report for a terminated pregnancy. I disappeared into the night, letting him believe he had successfully killed his own legacy through his neglect. Five years later, Hilliard walked into "The Vault," the city's most exclusive underground auction, looking for a broker to manage his estate. He didn't recognize me behind my Venetian mask, but he couldn't ignore the neon pink graffiti on his armored Maybach that read "DEADBEAT." He had no clue that the three brilliant triplets currently hacking his security system were the very children he thought had been erased years ago. This time, I wasn't just a wife in the way; I was the one holding all the cards.

The heavy iron gates of the Wilderness Correction Camp groaned as they released me after three years of state-sponsored hell. I stood on the dirt road, clutching a plastic bag that held my entire life, waiting for the family that claimed they sent me there for "rehab." My brother, Brady, picked me up in a luxury SUV only to throw me out onto a deserted highway in the middle of a brewing storm. He told me I was a "public relations nightmare" and that the rain might finally wash the "stink" of the camp off me. He drove away, leaving me to limp miles through the mud on a snapped ankle. When I finally dragged myself to our family estate, my mother didn't offer a hug; she gasped in horror because my muddy clothes were ruining her Italian marble. They didn't give me my old room back. Instead, they banished me to a moldy gardener’s shack and hired a "babysitter" to make sure I didn't embarrass them further. My sister, Kaleigh, stood there in white cashmere, pretending to cry while clinging to her fiancĆ©, Ambrose—the man who had once been mine. They all treated me like a volatile junkie, refusing to acknowledge that Kaleigh was the one who planted the drugs in my bag three years ago. They wanted to believe I was broken so they wouldn't have to feel guilty about the "wellness retreat" that was actually a torture chamber. I sat in the dark of that shed, feeling the cooling gel on the cigarette burns that covered my arms, and realized they had made a fatal mistake. They thought they had erased me, but I had returned with a roadmap of scars and a hidden satellite phone. At dinner, I didn't beg for their love. I simply rolled up my sleeves and showed them the price of their silence. As the wine spilled and the lies crumbled, I sent a single text to the only person I trusted: "I'm in. Let them simmer." The hunt was finally on.

My five-year-old daughter was dying in the ICU, her heartbeat replaced by the continuous, electronic scream of a flatline. I gripped her cold hand, my throat sealed shut by a terror so absolute I couldn't even cry out. I dialed my husband Grayson's private number, the one reserved only for me and his assistants. He declined the call instantly. A second later, a text buzzed against my palm: "In a meeting. Do not disturb. Stop calling." Five miles away, Grayson was at a luxury gala, adjusting his silk tie and laughing with Belle Escobar. He told her I was just being "dramatic" and using our daughter's "fever" as an excuse to avoid the event. He had no idea Effie's heart had already stopped. When I finally reached our penthouse, soaked from the rain and carrying Effie's small socks in a plastic bag, Grayson didn't even look at me. He snapped at me for ruining the hardwood floors and asked if I'd left Effie with the nanny just to "feel sorry for myself." Three days later, while I buried our daughter in a small, lonely ceremony, Grayson was at the Hamptons. Belle posted a photo of him golfing with the caption: "A mental health day with the boys." He didn't even attend the funeral, but he returned home demanding I clear out Effie's room to make a study for Belle's son. The injustice burned through me until there was nothing left. I swallowed a handful of sleeping pills, desperate to join my daughter. But instead of the darkness, I woke up to blinding lights and the scent of Grayson's expensive cologne. I was standing in a ballroom, wearing a blue silk dress I had already burned. Above me, a banner read: "Happy 5th Birthday Kaiden & Effie." I was back, exactly one year before the tragedy. This time, I wasn't going to be the grieving wife. I was going to be their worst nightmare.
