Love Encounter in the Cell Chapter 1 The Proposal

"I will be seeing her after work today. I have to make everything perfect".I told my best friend Steve over the phone.

Today was the day Victoria and I were finally going to consummate our relationship. We had been dating for two years, two fucking years and now I'm going to propose to her to be my wife.

As surprising as it sounds, it's true from the day Victoria and I started dating, she never talked about marriage and that feels strange to me, making me think she has another guy planning that with. Whenever I talk about marriage and having kids, she will find things to cover it up and that makes me keep doubting her.

I have been with many ladies and they are always with me because of my money and wealth but not this long. Victoria has been an amazing and beautiful soul that man will wish to have as a wife but she never talked about marrying me or spending the rest of her life with me.

Well, all that was going to change today, our relationship was two years and I was going to propose to her and I was ready.

"Just don't stress yourself out. I know how much you want today to turn out perfect, but...." Stev tried to say, but I'm not hearing any of it.

"Steve, if everything goes well, you'll have to best me on my big day and I will be turning into a big man. Isn't that exciting?"

"Alexander... "I could feel the way Steve would be shaking his head right now at my over-excited attitude.

As in, who gets this excited just because they want to propose to a woman? Well, that would be me. In the past few years of dating Victoria, I had been tormented by my mother asking me to get married to her.

But today, today is the day I have been waiting for, it's Victoria, and my 2nd anniversary, and I'm ready to make it a blissful one.

"Oh I gotta go I need to inspect everything" I ended the call

Yes, today was the day

Taking a deep breath, I headed out from my office. I'm the CEO of Carlton Enterprises in New York. I took my car key and drove to Crown Suite and Lounge where I had already booked to propose to Victoria and celebrate the proposal. I checked the arrangement, there were rose petals on the floor of the lounge and big balloons with a text on them " Will you marry me?"

The lounge was cool and gave off an aromatic and love-in-the-air vibe. I had a car gift for Victoria if my proposal was accepted, a new Rolls Royce, the latest model, which was decorated with flowers and balloons.

Everything was set for my evening with Victoria, my girlfriend. Just as I was heading home to freshen up and called Victoria to meet me at the lounge in the evening. I felt my phone ring, checking the ID caller, and it was my girlfriend, Victoria.

"Hello baby", I called out lovely immediately after I answered the phone.

" Alex, I'm sorry, but I can't come for our anniversary tonight".

What was that?

My heart became heavy because, after all my preparation, Victoria wouldn't be available. Looking at the proposed diamond ring I felt so sad.

I could hear moaning from the other side of the phone.

Was she cheating on me?

" Victoria I called out".Why won't you be available?

"My mum is sick and I need to take care of her".

I asked for the hospital address, and all she could say was that I should not bother myself.

Before I knew it, the phone went off. My eyes filled up with tears, I drove to her Mother's house to check if I could meet one of her siblings.

As I opened the car to alight, I saw her mother coming out of the house, I greeted her and told her what happened she was shocked.

" She said I'm sick? I'm sound as you can see my son".

Mrs Stell has been a great mother and has not been supporting her daughter in any bad way.

As I was about to leave a text message a text message from an unknown number.

" Come to Goldville Hotel, room 109".It read.

What was this? Who was this?

I couldn't think properly anymore. I went to the car and drove straight to the address. If I were in my normal sense, I would have questioned the text and probably texted back to find out who texted me.

I would have thought maybe it was a trap or something like that, but my head was scrambled to the point I didn't care.

Arriving at the hotel, I went straight to the counter and showed them the text.

"Oh, you're the one". The lady at the counter looked at me suspiciously before giving me the key to the room.

I wondered why the lady said that but I wasn't bothered to ask 8f someone was expecting me there.

I arrived at the room door, reluctantly, I opened the door with the key the receptionist gave me. The room was dark but I could still make out two figures on the huge bed naked.

"Vic...Victoria?" My voice shook, not only my voice but my whole body shook. When my eye adjusted to the dark I could make out to the man's face.

"Steve?"

Victoria quickly hides behind Steve.

"Alex, what...what are you doing here?"Steve asked trying to hide Victoria from my view, but I already saw her.

"Victoria of all the people you could cheat on me with you picked my best friend?" I cried.

My heart felt like it was being shredded into tiny pieces. My girlfriend and the man who I could trust my life with were sleeping together.

"Alex, it's... This...This is not what it looks like".Steve said, trying to explain.

Victoria, who was still trying to stay hidden behind Steve, also spoke up.

"Yes, it's not...it's not what it looks like".

"Okay, then what is it? Let me tell you what it looks like my best friend and my girlfriend that I was going to propose to were having sex together in a hotel!" I shouted, Frightening Victoria.

She should be scared.

I moved closer to Steve to fight him but Victoria stopped me.

"I never loved you, Alex!" she shouted at me.

My body was sore, the pain in my heart from Victoria's words hurt me.

I looked up at her, clenching my hands to a fist to stop myself from crying.

"I'm your boyfriend!" I shouted back.

"You are my boyfriend, but he's the one I truly love". I heard Victoria say it from behind Steve.

My body shook furiously.

"What did you just say?"

"You heard her; she's the one I love, I already proposed to her today".Steve said.

My head began to spin.

"Proposed?"

"You...you...proposed to her?" We've been together for two years, Steve. I only introduced Victoria to you last month my girlfriend, you guys just met each other through me and you proposed to her knowing fully that she's my girlfriend and I'm planning to propose to her today".

Victoria laughed getting down from the bed and holding the bedsheet close to her to cover her nakedness.

"Look here, Alex. Steve and I had been dating before I met you, we both planned it. The real plan was to get married to you and get all your wealth but I pity you and just make it this way. Steve loves me and I love him too. I'm only with you because of your wealth. He proposed to me today and I accepted, we are celebrating that when you entered".

I looked up at my girlfriend -no, my ex-girlfriend -in tears.

As I lay on the floor of our manor, bleeding out from a ruptured ectopic pregnancy, I used my last ounce of strength to call my husband, Cole. I begged him for help, my vision blurring. But the only thing I heard was the clinking of champagne glasses and his mistress's giggle in the background. "Stop the drama, June," Cole snapped, his voice cold. "We're about to go on stage. Don't call again." He hung up, leaving me to die alone on the Persian rug while he accepted an award with another woman on his arm. I woke up in the hospital days later. My baby was gone. They had removed my fallopian tube. Cole finally arrived, smelling of expensive scotch and his mistress's perfume. He didn't hug me. He didn't cry. Instead, he leaned over my hospital bed, pressing his knee into the mattress until my fresh stitches tore open and bled. "You embarrassed me by calling an ambulance," he hissed. "My mistress, Alycia, says you're faking it. Clean yourself up." He left me bleeding again to go announce a $10 million donation to Alycia's "groundbreaking" medical research. I stared at the TV screen, numb. The research Alycia was taking credit for? It was mine. I wrote that patent years ago under a pseudonym. They thought I was just a poor, orphan housewife who needed Cole's money to survive. They had no idea I was actually a billionaire scientist hiding my identity. I pulled the IV needle out of my arm. A drop of blood fell onto the divorce papers I had been hiding. I didn't wipe it off. I signed my name right over it. Then I walked into the bank, reactivated my dormant account with $128 million, and bought the penthouse directly overlooking Cole's house. The mourning widow is dead. The avenger is born.

I stood at my mother's open grave in the freezing rain, my heels sinking into the mud. The space beside me was empty. My husband, Hilliard Holloway, had promised to cherish me in bad times, but apparently, burying my mother didn't fit into his busy schedule. While the priest's voice droned on, a news alert lit up my phone. It was a livestream of the Metropolitan Charity Gala. There was Hilliard, looking impeccable in a custom tuxedo, with his ex-girlfriend Charla English draped over his arm. The headline read: "Holloway & English: A Power Couple Reunited?" When he finally returned to our penthouse at 2 AM, he didn't come alone-he brought Charla with him. He claimed she'd had a "medical emergency" at the gala and couldn't be left alone. I found a Tiffany diamond necklace on our coffee table meant for her birthday, and a smudge of her signature red lipstick on his collar. When I confronted him, he simply told me to stop being "hysterical" and "acting like a child." He had no idea I was seven months pregnant with his child. He thought so little of my grief that he didn't even bother to craft a convincing lie, laughing with his mistress in our home while I sat in the dark with a shattered heart and a secret life growing inside me. "He doesn't deserve us," I whispered to the darkness. I didn't scream or beg. I simply left a folder on his desk containing signed divorce papers and a forged medical report for a terminated pregnancy. I disappeared into the night, letting him believe he had successfully killed his own legacy through his neglect. Five years later, Hilliard walked into "The Vault," the city's most exclusive underground auction, looking for a broker to manage his estate. He didn't recognize me behind my Venetian mask, but he couldn't ignore the neon pink graffiti on his armored Maybach that read "DEADBEAT." He had no clue that the three brilliant triplets currently hacking his security system were the very children he thought had been erased years ago. This time, I wasn't just a wife in the way; I was the one holding all the cards.

I was once the heiress to the Solomon empire, but after it crumbled, I became the "charity case" ward of the wealthy Hyde family. For years, I lived in their shadows, clinging to the promise that Anson Hyde would always be my protector. That promise shattered when Anson walked into the ballroom with Claudine Chapman on his arm. Claudine was the girl who had spent years making my life a living hell, and now Anson was announcing their engagement to the world. The humiliation was instant. Guests sneered at my cheap dress, and a waiter intentionally sloshed champagne over me, knowing I was a nobody. Anson didn't even look my way; he was too busy whispering possessively to his new fiancée. I was a ghost in my own home, watching my protector celebrate with my tormentor. The betrayal burned. I realized I wasn't a ward; I was a pawn Anson had kept on a shelf until he found a better trade. I had no money, no allies, and a legal trust fund that Anson controlled with a flick of his wrist. Fleeing to the library, I stumbled into Dallas Koch-a titan of industry and my best friend's father. He was a wall of cold, absolute power that even the Hydes feared. "Marry me," I blurted out, desperate to find a shield Anson couldn't climb. Dallas didn't laugh. He pulled out a marriage agreement and a heavy fountain pen. "Sign," he commanded, his voice a low rumble. "But if you walk out that door with me, you never go back." I signed my name, trading my life for the only man dangerous enough to keep me safe.
