Bella is determined to keep her heart locked away, but Damon is a man with secrets, and one slip could shatter the illusion of his perfect life. In a world where money can buy almost anything, can love survive when the lies come crashing down?

Till money do us apart Chapter 1 1

The night was electric, the kind of evening that hummed with anticipation. From her vantage point on the balcony of the Metropolitan Hotel, Isabella Castillo could see the entire city sprawling beneath her like a sea of glittering diamonds. New York City was alive, breathing, and for tonight at least, she felt like she was at its center.

Inside the grand ballroom, the charity gala was in full swing. It was a spectacle of wealth and status: crystal chandeliers hanging from the vaulted ceilings, the sound of champagne glasses clinking, and the low hum of polite, meaningless conversations filling the room. Bella smoothed her hand over the sleek black fabric of her dress, a Valentino piece she had splurged on for this very night. The strapless gown hugged her curves in all the right places, exuding the confidence she needed to face the room full of Manhattan's elite.

She wasn't here to make friends. She was here to make connections, to secure her place as one of the top corporate attorneys in the city-a position she'd fought tooth and nail for. But as she scanned the room, she could already feel the familiar disdain settling in. The people here were sharks, dressed up in designer suits and gowns, hiding their ruthless ambition behind smiles that didn't reach their eyes.

"Isabella Castillo, the woman who's too busy conquering the corporate world to enjoy a glass of champagne."

Bella turned at the sound of the voice, finding herself face-to-face with Peter Lawson, a senior partner at her firm. He was charming in that disingenuous way most senior partners were-always looking for the next angle, the next advantage. He handed her a glass of champagne, his smile thin but practiced.

"You know I prefer Bella," she replied smoothly, taking the glass without meeting his gaze. She sipped, letting the cool bubbles fizz on her tongue, her eyes drifting back toward the crowd.

"And yet here you are," Peter continued, leaning in slightly, lowering his voice to a conspiratorial whisper. "You're not just here for the charity auction, are you? You're hunting."

Bella's lips curled into a small smile. "Is that what you think, Peter? I was under the impression this was a charity event, not a business meeting."

Peter chuckled, clearly amused. "In this room, the two are one and the same. And I'd wager you're here for something big."

She didn't answer, just took another sip of her champagne. He wasn't entirely wrong. There was something she was here for, but it wasn't what Peter or anyone else might suspect. She was here for one man in particular-Damon Westwood. The reclusive billionaire was rarely seen at these kinds of events, preferring to keep his distance from the spotlight. But tonight, rumor had it that he'd make an appearance.

And she needed to see him.

"Enjoy your night, Peter," she said, dismissing him with a polite nod before turning away.

The ballroom felt warmer as more guests flooded in, the sound of laughter and the distant rhythm of a string quartet filling the space. Bella maneuvered through the crowd, offering nods of acknowledgment to those she recognized but making no effort to stop and chat. Her eyes kept scanning the room, searching for a face she had only seen in magazine covers and business articles.

Then she saw him.

Damon Westwood stood near the bar, his back turned to the room, but there was no mistaking his presence. He was taller than she'd expected, his tailored suit fitting him like a second skin, emphasizing the broad expanse of his shoulders. His hair was dark and neatly styled, and even from across the room, Bella could sense the aura of control and confidence that surrounded him.

She took a deep breath and started toward him, her heels clicking against the marble floor. As she approached, he turned, as if sensing her presence, and their eyes met. For a moment, the noise of the room faded away, leaving just the two of them locked in a silent, intense stare.

"Isabella Castillo," he said, his voice smooth and deep, with the hint of a smile playing on his lips. "I've heard a lot about you."

"Good things, I hope," Bella replied, tilting her head slightly, matching his smile with one of her own.

"Mostly," he said, taking a step closer, closing the distance between them. He was even more striking up close-sharp jawline, piercing blue eyes that seemed to see right through her. "You have quite the reputation for being... uncompromising."

"And you have a reputation for being ruthless," Bella shot back, lifting her chin in defiance.

Damon's smile widened, genuine amusement lighting up his face. "Touché. But tell me, what brings you to this gala tonight? Surely a lawyer of your caliber has better things to do than mingle with New York's most overindulged."

"Maybe I'm just here for the champagne," she said lightly, taking a sip as if to prove her point.

"Somehow, I doubt that," he murmured, his gaze dropping to her lips before flicking back up to meet her eyes. The tension between them was palpable, a crackling energy that seemed to draw them closer despite their measured words.

"You're right," Bella said, lowering her glass. "I came here to meet you."

Damon raised an eyebrow, clearly intrigued. "Is that so? And what does the formidable Isabella Castillo want from me?"

"Information," she replied, her voice lowering. "I've heard rumors about a deal you're brokering. A merger that could reshape the industry. I want in."

Damon's expression didn't change, but something flickered in his eyes-something dark and calculating. He leaned in slightly, his voice dropping to a whisper that sent a shiver down Bella's spine.

"You're playing a dangerous game, Bella."

She matched his gaze, unflinching. "I've never been afraid of a little danger."

He studied her for a long moment, as if weighing his options. Then he smiled, a slow, predatory smile that sent a thrill of anticipation through her.

"Neither have I," he said softly. "Consider me intrigued. Let's see how far you're willing to go."

Before Bella could respond, he reached out, lightly brushing a strand of hair behind her ear, his touch lingering just a second too long. Then, with a final glance that left her breathless, he turned and walked away, disappearing into the crowd.

Bella stood there, heart pounding, the champagne glass still clutched in her hand. This was going to be more complicated than she'd anticipated. And infinitely more dangerous.

But as she watched Damon's retreating figure, she knew one thing for certain.

She was all in.

I woke up in a blindingly white hotel penthouse with a throbbing headache and the taste of betrayal in my mouth. The last thing I remembered was my stepsister, Cathie, handing me a flute of champagne at the charity gala with a smile that didn't reach her eyes. Now, a tall, dangerously handsome man walked out of the bathroom with a towel around his hips. On the nightstand sat a stack of hundred-dollar bills. My stepmother had finally done it—she drugged me and staged a scandal with a hired escort to destroy my reputation and my future. "Aisha! Is it true you spent the night with a gigolo?" The shouts of a dozen reporters echoed through the heavy oak door as camera flashes exploded through the peephole. My phone lit up with messages showing my bank accounts were already frozen. My father was invoking the 'morality clause' in my mother’s trust fund, and my fiancé had already released a statement dumping me to marry my stepsister instead. I was trapped, penniless, and being hunted by the press for a scandal I hadn't even participated in. My own family had sold me out for a payday, and the man standing in front of me was the only witness who could prove I was innocent—or finish me off for good. I didn't have time to cry. According to the fine print of the trust, I had thirty days to prove my "rehabilitation" through a legal marriage or I would lose everything. I tracked the man down to a coffee shop the next morning, watching him take a thick envelope of cash from a wealthy older woman. I sat across from him and slid a napkin with a $50,000 figure written on it. "I need a husband. Legal, paper-signed, and convincing." He looked at the number, then at me, a slow, crooked smile spreading across his face. I thought I was hiring a desperate gigolo to save my inheritance. I had no idea I was actually proposing to Dominic Fields, the reclusive billionaire shark who was currently planning a hostile takeover of my father’s entire empire.

I Slapped My Fiancé-Then Married His Billionaire Nemesis

Being second best is practically in my DNA. My sister got the love, the attention, the spotlight. And now, even her damn fiancé. Technically, Rhys Granger was my fiancé now-billionaire, devastatingly hot, and a walking Wall Street wet dream. My parents shoved me into the engagement after Catherine disappeared, and honestly? I didn't mind. I'd crushed on Rhys for years. This was my chance, right? My turn to be the chosen one? Wrong. One night, he slapped me. Over a mug. A stupid, chipped, ugly mug my sister gave him years ago. That's when it hit me-he didn't love me. He didn't even see me. I was just a warm-bodied placeholder for the woman he actually wanted. And apparently, I wasn't even worth as much as a glorified coffee cup. So I slapped him right back, dumped his ass, and prepared for disaster-my parents losing their minds, Rhys throwing a billionaire tantrum, his terrifying family plotting my untimely demise. Obviously, I needed alcohol. A lot of alcohol. Enter him. Tall, dangerous, unfairly hot. The kind of man who makes you want to sin just by existing. I'd met him only once before, and that night, he just happened to be at the same bar as my drunk, self-pitying self. So I did the only logical thing: I dragged him into a hotel room and ripped off his clothes. It was reckless. It was stupid. It was completely ill-advised. But it was also: Best. Sex. Of. My. Life. And, as it turned out, the best decision I'd ever made. Because my one-night stand isn't just some random guy. He's richer than Rhys, more powerful than my entire family, and definitely more dangerous than I should be playing with. And now, he's not letting me go.

The Billionaire's Cold And Bitter Betrayal

I had just survived a private jet crash, my body a map of violet bruises and my lungs still burning from the smoke. I woke up in a sterile hospital room, gasping for my husband's name, only to realize I was completely alone. While I was bleeding in a ditch, my husband, Adam, was on the news smiling at a ribbon-cutting ceremony. When I tracked him down at the hospital's VIP wing, I didn't find a grieving husband. I found him tenderly cradling his ex-girlfriend, Casie, in his arms, his face lit with a protective warmth he had never shown me as he carried her into the maternity ward. The betrayal went deeper than I could have imagined. Adam admitted the affair started on our third anniversary-the night he claimed he was stuck in London for a merger. Back at the manor, his mother had already filled our planned nursery with pink boutique bags for Casie's "little princess." When I demanded a divorce, Adam didn't flinch. He sneered that I was "gutter trash" from a foster home and that I'd be begging on the streets within a week. To trap me, he froze my bank accounts, cancelled my flight, and even called the police to report me for "theft" of company property. I realized then that I wasn't his partner; I was a charity case he had plucked from obscurity to manage his life. To the Hortons, I was just a servant who happened to sleep in the master bedroom, a "resilient" woman meant to endure his abuse in silence while the whole world laughed at the joke that was my marriage. Adam thought stripping me of his money would make me crawl back to him. He was wrong. I walked into his executive suite during his biggest deal of the year and poured a mug of sludge over his original ten-million-dollar contracts. Then, right in front of his board and his mistress, I stripped off every designer thread he had ever paid for until I was standing in nothing but my own silk camisole. "You can keep the clothes, Adam. They're as hollow as you are." I grabbed my passport, turned my back on his billions, and walked out of that glass tower barefoot, bleeding, and finally free.
