Fated To Deal With The Billionaire Chapter 1 A Cheater Fiancè

The sound of tapping steps echoed in the quiet hallway. A woman glanced at the clock on her wrist. Seven minutes to fifteen at night. Her gaze returned to the front, looking one by one at the apartment rooms she passed as she walked.

Her destination was room 1607. She really wanted to go back to her own apartment so she could lay down. More precisely, to meet someone who must be waiting for him.

Today was the fourth time in one week that she had to work overtime because her annoying boss always assigned her tasks that should have been done by someone else. Her job required her to meet a lot of people, meetings between brands, and complex discussions about the progress of her company's brand products. Her energy was really running out now.

The woman looked up and massaged her neck. Hours of sitting in front of a computer screen made her neck feel numb. Luckily, it wasn't long before her steps arrived in front of a door bearing the number '1607'.

The woman breathed a sigh of relief. "Finally..."

After smiling for a few seconds looking at the apartment door, the woman opened the door code. Tit, tit, tit, tiiit. The sound of the door code was heard followed by the 'squeak' sound of the door opening. The woman let out a rough breath before opening the door.

She turned on the room light. When she took a step forward after closing the door again, her forehead wrinkled at the sight of a pair of women's high heels. Placed right next to the men's black work shoes. Unfamiliar shoes.

"What are these?" she asked herself, looking at the high heels. "Did he have a girl friend come?"

How strange. Her future husband had never invited male or female friends to her apartment. How could there be a pair of high heels next to her future husband's work shoes?

The woman suddenly felt bad, but she kept herself from sinking into bad thoughts. Maybe he'd just made a female friend who'd been invited over to chat with, she thought.

"Honey? Where are you?" As she stepped into the apartment's living room, she called out. Her gaze wandered around. But only silence was heard. Both eyebrows raised in astonishment.

Feeling, his fiancée's work shoes were near the shelf. Why was there no response to the call?

On the sofa, the woman saw a paper bag. She chuckled and shook her head. "How could he buy me a bag?"

She approached the paper bag with a brand logo. Her smile grew wider as she held the paper bag up in front of her face, watching with sparkling eyes.

"He's always unexpected, which is why I love him."

The woman noticed the bag inside the paper bag. She was about to take the bag out, but the movement of her hand stopped as her ears caught the sound of moaning from inside the room. Her head snapped around, for some reason straight to the room.

The moaning sound turned into a woman's sigh.

The woman's whole body stiffened. Her heart was pumping fast. She sharpened her hearing, hoping she was just hallucinating, but it became clearer and clearer.

The woman's sigh sounded louder then.

The uneasy feeling in her chest grew as her curiosity grew. She stood still for a moment, then slowly moved towards the source of the sound. She had just realized that there was the faint sound of music coming from inside the room. Who was there?

The woman's thoughts drifted everywhere as she stared at the door to her room. But she repeatedly shook her head to dispel any prejudice.

"Honey?" The woman tried to call out, but there was no reaction from inside.

The sound of a woman's sigh became clearer through the music. The woman's heart was pumping fast. Her curiosity got the better of her and she opened the door and kicked it. When the door was fully opened, the woman was suddenly transfixed by the scene before her.

On the bed, her fiancé, not wearing a single thread, was lying on top of a woman. They were kissing hotly. The blanket only partially covered their bodies so that the woman's body was clearly exposed wearing nothing.

The woman was dumbfounded. While the two humans on the bed stopped kissing, they simultaneously widened their eyes in surprise at her arrival.

"Nora?" The man on the bed muttered his name in a low tone. He could not move at once.

The woman called Nora scrunched her waist as she laughed sarcastically and looked down. "Bastard... what am I looking at right now?"

The man gasped and hurriedly pushed himself to the edge of the bed to put on his shorts, before hurriedly approaching Nora. "Nora... wait, I can explain. It's not what you think, Nora."

Nora looked at the man before her with calm eyes. But a faint glint of sharpness appeared as a small grin spread. "At least rent a hotel room. You have to stay in my apartment room to have an affair? It's just filthy."

Hearing Nora's speaking name that implied mocking sarcasm honestly sparked the annoyance of the man before him. Unfortunately, the current situation was not right to create a bigger argument. The man bowed his head with a sigh of regret. His sigh was audible.

"That's not what I meant, Nora. I invited her earlier because she had nowhere to go. But I was too drunk earlier," the man replied in a slightly stuttered tone.

Instead of answering the man's incoherent ramblings, Nora asked, "How long has it been?"

The man's face looked up, looking at Nora doubtfully. He didn't know what to say to Nora. As a result, for a few seconds, the man just stayed still while scratching the back of his neck. Feeling awkward.

Unable to stand it, Nora repeated the question. "How long has it been?"

""Four months..." The man hung up his sentence, then dropped to kneel in front of Nora. "Please forgive me, Nora. This was completely out of my consciousness. I couldn't control myself because of my drunkenness."

"How trite, Jerry," Nora muttered, which the man named Naufal could still hear. "Ah... damn. Do I have to remember what you guys do every time I sleep on my bed? How embarrassing."

Jerry didn't react, just raised his head to look at Nora. The pleading look on his face really made Nora sick.

Nora exhaled harshly as she looked away. "Looks like I have to move out of this apartment. Oh, our wedding is canceled in two days, Naufal. And don't forget..."

Nora's sentence hung. Jerry spontaneously stood up from his seat, looking at Nora with a stunned look at Nora's decision.

"My money is still in our joint savings. Return it all tomorrow."

Nora then turned around to rush out of the room. But her movement was stopped when Naufal's voice was heard.

"Nora, all the money in the savings account... is gone. I bought her a lot of presents with that money. Sorry."

Jerry thought Nora would immediately slap, punch, or kick him when he turned around. In fact, Nora didn't react. Her eyes just looked straight into Jerry's beady eyes, then laughed sarcastically. Jerry was dumbfounded, while Nora immediately pulled out her cell phone from her shirt pocket. She searched for someone's contact before putting the screen to her ear.

"Hello? Book me an emergency ticket to California tonight."

Nora hung up the phone without turning her sharp gaze away from Jerry. Without saying anything, Nora continued to walk out of the apartment room. Her mind, which was already chaotic due to a pile of work at the office, was now even more frantic. Her steps rushed outside the apartment building to catch a taxi. Her heart was racing fast as the emotional turmoil she was holding back exploded.

Images of the hot kiss swirled in Nora's head, driving sharp thorns into her heart. When she got into the taxi, Nora patted her chest to calm down. The tears that had been welling up for a while finally fell. Nora looked outside, watching the soothing lights of the capital building.

The trip to the airport took an hour because her apartment building was not far away. Nora didn't even realize that she was only carrying a sizable goodie bag, instead of a suitcase. But she didn't care. The departure time of the booked plane happened to be twenty-five minutes away. Now Nora was sitting in the passenger lounge.

She deliberately chose a row of metal benches near the window overlooking the airplane's takeoff field. She did her best to keep herself from sobbing.

"Excuse me, Miss."

A heavy voice from behind snapped Nora out of her reverie. Nora hurriedly wiped her cheeks, but her eyes saw a pair of black shoes standing beside her. A handkerchief was held out in front of her face.

Nora looked up. A tall male figure stood tall with a cold gaze straight at her. The frown lines on his forehead seemed to imply a disturbed expression.

"Stop crying. The sound of your sobs is distracting," the man said matter-of-factly.

Nora was dumbfounded, then looked around. Where did this man come from?

"Did you... hear?" asked Nora, quietly.

"I'm behind you, and I'm not deaf," the man replied, handing her a handkerchief. "Lower your voice with this."

Nora accepted the handkerchief stiffly. When the man was about to walk away, Nora immediately said, "Wait, what's your name?"

The man stopped walking and turned around, looking at Nora questioningly. As if she understood, Nora then said, "Oh... someday if we meet again, I can memorize your name and return this."

"Keano," the man replied, curtly. "Keano Albarack. I hope we don't meet again."

My five-year-old daughter was dying in the ICU, her heartbeat replaced by the continuous, electronic scream of a flatline. I gripped her cold hand, my throat sealed shut by a terror so absolute I couldn't even cry out. I dialed my husband Grayson's private number, the one reserved only for me and his assistants. He declined the call instantly. A second later, a text buzzed against my palm: "In a meeting. Do not disturb. Stop calling." Five miles away, Grayson was at a luxury gala, adjusting his silk tie and laughing with Belle Escobar. He told her I was just being "dramatic" and using our daughter's "fever" as an excuse to avoid the event. He had no idea Effie's heart had already stopped. When I finally reached our penthouse, soaked from the rain and carrying Effie's small socks in a plastic bag, Grayson didn't even look at me. He snapped at me for ruining the hardwood floors and asked if I'd left Effie with the nanny just to "feel sorry for myself." Three days later, while I buried our daughter in a small, lonely ceremony, Grayson was at the Hamptons. Belle posted a photo of him golfing with the caption: "A mental health day with the boys." He didn't even attend the funeral, but he returned home demanding I clear out Effie's room to make a study for Belle's son. The injustice burned through me until there was nothing left. I swallowed a handful of sleeping pills, desperate to join my daughter. But instead of the darkness, I woke up to blinding lights and the scent of Grayson's expensive cologne. I was standing in a ballroom, wearing a blue silk dress I had already burned. Above me, a banner read: "Happy 5th Birthday Kaiden & Effie." I was back, exactly one year before the tragedy. This time, I wasn't going to be the grieving wife. I was going to be their worst nightmare.
