BLURB: Kael Darko had been the indomitable Mafia King and business tycoon and Jen Stewart was just a lady working in a coffee shop and trying to make ends meet. When these persons cross parts, not just bullets fly, even sparks erupt and emotions rage in a storm. "No one can leave a scar on you...except my kisses." Kael Darko swears to Jen. He has never been one to care about the frivolities of women but not until he comes across this lovable and adorable coffee girl at his club about to be defiled by filthy men. Kahadhas never felt this need to conquer, possess and protect anyone till he came across Jen who made him feel this way and even more. Kael would do everything and anything to keep her by his side, first for the sake of lust and power but sooner than later, he would turn the entire underworld if as much as a strand of hair on her body was missing. As ruthless as he may be, Jen knew it like her name that she could tame him because he was their devil but he was her protector.

Chapter 1 PROLOGUE

9:28 PM, MEXICO.

The night sky was without stars that day, it was a stormy and rainy night. As stormy as Kael Darko's eyes when he heard the news.

"Repeat yourself." His voice was low and dangerous that his subordinates trembled in fear. Their boss was going to Kill them, they were sure of it. It had something to do with Her after all.

"We... Err... Boss, Number thirteen, he diffused a sleeping gas in the car and we all slept off including Madam. We awoke and she was gone with number 13." One of the men spoke up, his voice quivering and his legs threatening to give way to the floor. Perspiration was plastered on his forehead and he then shared eye contact with his mates but they weren't helping out at all. He was better off. Number ten had already pissed on his pants and Number Eight's teeth was clattering like he would convulse the next minute.

Kael's eyes narrowed, his fingers folding into a palm fist, "You mean to tell me that my Woman was kidnapped under your watch?"

All the subordinates didn't know whether to cry or die but they didn't dare to not answer their boss so they nodded their head.

Kael breathed, "Pray to whatever god you serve that not as much as a scratch is found on her body or you all might as well choose the weapon you wish to die by and which parts of your body be fed to the birds."

He took heavy and large strides out of the room taping away very much seriously on his phone. He immediately took a phone call,

"Have all backups at the frontier now, we have been compromised, Reynolds' men infiltrated our cabin. Get number one to be on the move." He said and immediately ended the call.

Kael's every steps were filled with rage and his body vibrated with anger. They had been very low-key the past few weeks and she just wanted to go and get some groceries since he was bent on cooking diner for both of them.

Who knew! He blamed himself. He should have insisted on taking her himself than leaving her to those miserly men who couldn't even protect themselves. His heart thumped so fast but his face showed no emotions.

He made it quickly to his front yard and took the fastest car in his collection, zooming off and leaving a gust of wind to his wake.

He prayed his girl was safe, he swore to protect her.

His subordinates prayed their lives be spared.

The entire city lay awake to hear the cries of the men who lay their hands his woman.

The underworld will be shaken to its core and the starless skies will be a blanket over the blood that will flow like a stream.

Just a scar, a little scar was enough. He was the Mafia King and the entire night will know, it will be imprinted in the sands.

That she was his. Jen.

I died on a Tuesday. It wasn't a quick death. It was slow, cold, and meticulously planned by the man who called himself my father. I was twenty years old. He needed my kidney to save my sister. The spare part for the golden child. I remember the blinding lights of the operating theater, the sterile smell of betrayal, and the phantom pain of a surgeon's scalpel carving into my flesh while my screams echoed unheard. I remember looking through the observation glass and seeing him-my father, Giovanni Vitiello, the Don of the Chicago Outfit-watching me die with the same detached expression he used when signing a death warrant. He chose her. He always chose her. And then, I woke up. Not in heaven. Not in hell. But in my own bed, a year before my scheduled execution. My body was whole, unscarred. The timeline had reset, a glitch in the cruel matrix of my existence, giving me a second chance I never asked for. This time, when my father handed me a one-way ticket to London-an exile disguised as a severance package-I didn't cry. I didn't beg. My heart, once a bleeding wound, was now a block of ice. He didn't know he was talking to a ghost. He didn't know I had already lived through his ultimate betrayal. He also didn't know that six months ago, during the city's brutal territory wars, I was the one who saved his most valuable asset. In a secret safe house, I stitched up the wounds of a blinded soldier, a man whose life hung by a thread. He never saw my face. He only knew my voice, the scent of vanilla, and the steady touch of my hands. He called me Sette. Seven. For the seven stitches I put in his shoulder. That man was Dante Moretti. The Ruthless Capo. The man my sister, Isabella, is now set to marry. She stole my story. She claimed my actions, my voice, my scent. And Dante, the man who could spot a lie from a mile away, believed the beautiful deception because he wanted it to be true. He wanted the golden girl to be his savior, not the invisible sister who was only ever good for her spare parts. So I took the ticket. In my past life, I fought them, and they silenced me on an operating table. This time, I will let them have their perfect, gilded lie. I will go to London. I will disappear. I will let Seraphina Vitiello die on that plane. But I will not be a victim. This time, I will not be the lamb led to slaughter. This time, from the shadows of my exile, I will be the one holding the match. And I will wait, with the patience of the dead, to watch their entire world burn. Because a ghost has nothing to lose, and a queen of ashes has an empire to gain.
