Chapter 1 Prologue

Playful, yet cunning, kind, yet a temptress. That is how they define me.

I gave her a whack on the head and said, "Oh, you actually ought to have told me that you want me all by myself, babe."

'You hope so! In addition, I would want to ask you a question; please don't make any assumptions. She adjusts her hair and fixes her gaze on me.

"What is it, and we have to talk here?"

Is that the case? There is a proposal between Dianna and Meghan? The fact that she responded with, "I thought they were cousins; how did this happen?" demonstrated that she is aware of something.

On top of that, I added, "And I want the truth, Patricia."

"What is it? You are not going to make a statement, are you? Why is she not making any noise? My hand was about to touch her shoulder when she stopped me by grabbing my hand with hers. I was about to touch her shoulder.

Oh my goodness! Do not even think of slapping me, Tiffany! To what extent did she believe that I would strike her?

"What is it? I am not going to slap you, you complete moron! Although I was ready to touch your shoulder, it appears that you are not paying attention to me. When she stared at my hand and made the decision to let go of it, she realized that she was still holding it. "And please, let go of my hand," she said.

I spoke the words, "So, spill," while crossing my arms.

She slapped me on the shoulder and said, "I don't know, I guess it's a good plan," despite the fact that she was feeling pain in her shoulder. I miss being able to be so close to her in this way. I filled her in on Meghan's scheme, but I refrained from revealing Dianna's true identity to her. I only informed her that it is true that Dianna has a great deal of affection for Hilary; this is the reason why we came up with that strategy.

What do you know, Mr. Are you going to admit that you are not truly thinking? You are so smart in the classroom, yet you are so stupid when it comes to stuff like this. Know the reason why Hilary is not doing well? owing to the fact that news! It is now that she is sulking and harming herself by telling a falsehood. Even though she is constantly yelling at me, I don't mind it.

It's true, but I can't become involved, is that okay? I told her that Dianna is still in charge of making the decision. After heaving a sigh, she sat down on the grass and leaned back against the tree.

"This is so ridiculous that I can't believe it; it's a terrible concept. It would have been possible for Dianna to tell Hilary directly and put an end to this farce. It's a good thing that she granted me permission to sit next to her this time.

"Don't be concerned; I will communicate with Dianna to sort things out. As much as I despise seeing Hilary in pain, I really hope that she comes to terms with the fact that she is not straight. Although it is very clear that Hilary has feelings for Dianna as well, I am afraid that my cousin would not acknowledge to having such feelings.

"It's sad that it's so complicated; they both love each other, but one of them is stopping to make it happen." I agree with her. Additionally, I am aware that she is referring to Hilary. The moment I mustered up the confidence to take her hand, she jerked back and stared at me anxiously. Although she was going to pull it, I managed to keep it in my grip.

"Don't you love me anymore?" What I consider to be a blessing in disguise is the fact that I was able to communicate with her in this manner.

"Patricia..." It was me that interrupted her.

Does your love for me still exist, Tiffany? Since I continue to do so. This is always you; you are the one who fills this space. Her hand was placed on my chest, which is the area where my heart is situated.

"Yes." I was so overjoyed by her response that I couldn't contain my joy. It's almost as if heaven is on my side. 7

When she said, "Please come back; be back to me, Tiff," I thought that this would be the best day of my life. However, by the time she spoke, I realized that I was wrong.

I am sorry, but I am unable to do that. Yes, I still love you. Even though the grief is still present, love is not enough, Pat. This is especially true now. First and foremost, we need to get back to being friends. I need to heal myself. In addition, I will return to you while you are still present. As she wiped away my tears, I was unaware that they had already begun to pour. She gives me a hug and kisses my forehead before standing up and leaving me in my location, which is also our spot. My body is visibly rigid.

"Carroll Brown is dead! But you have to marry him in your sister's name." My mother said to me in a cold tone. My sister was engaged to the hottest billionaire. It should have been a perfect marriage. Unexpectedly, Carroll was dead in an accident. My sister didn't want to become a widow, so she forced me to marry her dead fiance. And I had no right to refuse her. Actually, I was the biological daughter of the Smith family. My sister was an adoptive one. My sister and I had been swapped at the hospital when we were just born. My parents had already had a deep relationship with her. So they chose to sacrifice me. On the wedding day, I was taken to the mourning hall. "Ma'am, please keep Master company and let him feel warm." The housekeeper said with a cold expression. I couldn't help but look up at the portrait above the coffin, and my heart skipped a beat at this glance. The man in the portrait was more handsome than the superstars in Hollywood. Carroll Brown? My dead husband? Wow, he was really handsome! I didn't know how long had passed when my stomach began to rebel. After one glance at the coffin, I swallowed my saliva and then begged with my fingers crossed. "Mr. Carroll, I'm starving! May I eat your pastries? You don't mind, do you?" "I do." "Ah!" Scared, I broke out in a cold sweat. My legs went limp, and I fell to the ground. I shouted, "Ghost!" Carroll curled his lips, leaned over, and touched the black coffin. "Mr. Carroll has risen from the dead. What do you think of this headline tomorrow?"

"You're a creepy bastard." His eyes smolder me and his answering grin is nothing short of beautiful. Deadly. "Yet you hunger for me. Tell me, this appetite of yours, does it always tend toward 'creepy bastards'?" **** Widower and ex-boss to the Mafia, Zefiro Della Rocca, has an unhealthy fixation on the woman nextdoor. It began as a coincidence, growing into mere curiosity, and soon, it was an itch he couldn't ignore, like a quick fix of crack for an addict. He didn't know her name, but he knew every inch of her skin, how it flushed when she climaxed, her favourite novel and that every night she contemplated suicide. He didn't want to care, despising his rapt fascination of the woman. She was in love with her abusive husband. She was married, bound by a contract to the Bratva's hitman. She was off-limits. But when Zefiro wanted something, it was with an intensity that bordered on madness. He obsessed, possessed, owned. There'd be bloodshed if he touched her, but the sight of blood always did fascinate him. * When Susanna flees from her husband, she stumbles right into the arms of her devilishly handsome neighbour with a brooding glare. He couldn't stand her, but she needed him, if she was ever going to escape her husband who now wanted her dead. Better the devil you know than the angel you don't. She should have recalled that before hopping into Zefiro's car and letting him whisk her away to Italy. Maybe then, she wouldn't have started an affair with him. He was the only man who touched her right, and the crazy man took no small pains in ensuring he would be the last.
