RUTH’S POV
I hummed as I made my way back home from work as usual. Work has been really busy lately and this time of the year is always busy, but here we go… Never would have thought I would make it home early.
Getting closer to the door, I noticed the door opened a bit, the first question that came to my mind was why Father would leave the door open when he knew it was a festive season in the pack, and as people celebrate so does street boys steal whenever they get the chance.
“Now, tell me why Father would---“ the rest of my words stuck in my throat, refusing to come out when I saw the scene before me.
My heart dropped from my chest and my eyes were wide in shock as I screamed,
“Father!”
I was about to rush towards him when the man who was pointing a gun at my father’s head turned it towards me, and so did the other men in the room. I stood rooted in one spot, frozen. My whole life flashed before my eyes as tears rolled down my cheeks.
My father was kneeling in front of a man, his face covered in blood and he looked weak. He tried to speak, but no words were coming out. I watched him speak to me with his eyes to leave.
“And you must be the daughter of Anthony” a stern and cold voice laced with malice asked. My eyes searched for the voice only to meet the eyes of the man sitting on one of our couches. A gasp escaped my lips,
“Alpha”
“Awn, good thing you know me…” he hummed his words and I swear, I feared for my life just by the way he spoke. Was it a good thing that I knew him or was it a bad thing?
“What… What do you want?” I asked with a shaky voice. Why was he here? What does he want? I have come to know and hear a lot about this man. He wasn’t someone one should play with. He was the Alpha of the pack yet many ran away from him instead of running to him for help.
“What I want is none of your business or else you want it to be…” he replied
“Ruthy dear, leave this to me, I can handle it. Why don’t you go and get me my drugs from the pharmacy, huh?” Father’s shaky voice instructed, but I knew better than to leave here.
They’ll kill him, he wasn’t handling anything, and he looked like shit, there was no way he would come out alive if I decided to leave now. I moved my gaze from father’s pleading one to the Alpha, trying and failing to be bold, I asked,
“What do you want?”
The man had this smile that I wished I could slap off his face, but I dare not. I wasn’t even sure my hand would obey.
“Aren’t you a smart girl…” he stood to his feet. His full height came into view, he was tall and huge. I watched as he walked towards me with slow slides, “How about we make a deal?”
As he spoke those words, his hand reached for my cheek, his huge body covered my strain of sight and I tried not to cower in fear.
