Chapter 1 HOUSETALES: The Banter (Grandma D)
Today is 21st of July.
It is a normal day for everyone but a happy day for me, i get to see my grandkids. I made sure the house is clean, tidy and most importantly that there is available cookies.
"Grandpa P is time to get off the bed" I said
"Why, its still early" He groaned and changed his position on the bed so he can be more comfortable.
"Early, did you say early. it's nearly noon and the kids will be here anytime soon" I said in disbelief.
"Yeah, it's early alright. it is just 11:24am, what is the fuss all about." He grumbled
"It is 11:24am alright, how bold of you to say that with no sense of shame. Most of your mates are out there making ends meet for their family and some exercising just to keep fit and healthy for their wives" I said
"Firstly, i am retired and i can go to the cafe at anytime. i own it and i have employees' who works for me." "Secondly, i am healthier and fitted than most men out there exercising besides men are not the only one's in the gym trying to maintain their shape for their wives" He said while half asleep
"Are you calling me fat?" I asked with a wimpy voice while making a gesture of holding back my tears
"What! i didn't say that, you also told me to go to the gym" He said now fully awake
"In order words you are confirming that I AM FAT" I said with a serious look
"Of course not, you are not fat. you are the most beautiful girl i have ever set my eyes on" He said
"So the other girls you haven't set your eyes on are more beautiful than me" I said
"WHAT!" He looked at me speechless.
"Tell me, what do you want?" He asked
"I want you off the bed, i want you to assist me in keeping the house neat and tidy by mowing the field outside. keep it short and cultivated, so the boys can play outside."
"Why don't you pay someone to get it done?" He asked
"Because it cost money and i want it done for free" I said
"How about i pay someone to mow the field" He said still oblivious to the fact that i just want him to do it and no one else. Money is not the issue, i want him to do something for his grandkids
"No, the truth is i want you to do it. you only" I said
"Fine, you just want me off the bed. you can't see me happy for a second and let me have that happiness, all woman can't let a man be happy, all i wanted was a little sle....." He grumbled
"What did you say?" I asked
"Nothing" He replied getting up, he got dressed and went out to mow the lawn.
