I woke up to loud knocking and someone repeatedly shouting my name. I was sure it was Aling Lourdes, the owner of this rental place. Aling Lourdes shouted, "I stood up and immediately opened the door for her." "Well, Maki, it seems like you're forgetting something?" she asked, raising an eyebrow. "Aling Lourdes, I don't have any money right now. Can I-" I couldn't finish my sentence because she interrupted. "If you can't pay, you should leave now. Nothing is free, and if you don't, I'll report you to the barangay," she said before leaving. I took a deep breath and decided to leave this place. •3 hours ago• I was outside Aling Lourdes' apartment, still thinking about where I should go when my phone suddenly rang. I answered it. "Hello?" "Maki? How are you, my child?" I couldn't respond when I heard my dad's voice. "What do you want?" I asked coldly. "Look at you, your attitude never changes," Dad said. "If you don't have anything good to say, I'll hang up now," I said irritably. "Maki, why don't you come live here so you can see how beautiful it is?" Dad suggested. "In your dreams," I started to say, but then I remembered I needed a place to stay. "Just send me the address," I said curtly and ended the call. My phone vibrated, and I saw the address he sent. I smirked a little and called a taxi. •Fast Forward• I was now in front of his mansion, and someone greeted me and told me to follow them. I stopped walking when I got inside. The place was huge and beautiful. I was startled when someone spoke behind me. "So, it's you?" the person said, looking angry. "M-me?" I stammered, pointing at myself. "Who else, stupid?" the person said before turning away. "HEY, YOU'RE SO ARROGANT! I'LL STRANGLE YOU!" I shouted, moving closer. "Sure, if you can, brat," the person said mockingly. I was about to hit him with my bag when someone laughed loudly.

Chapter 1 Home

Chapter 1

I was about to hit him with the bag I was holding when someone laughed loudly. Both of us turned to see a guy with orange hair.

Who is this devil? I whispered to myself.

"Yujin, don't laugh so loudly or the demon will scold you," he said with an annoying smile directed at me.

"I'm really getting annoyed with you! You're pushing it!" I yelled, pulling his ear repeatedly until it turned red, my frustration boiling over.

"S-stop!" he screamed while I continued pulling his ear.

I let go when Yujin suddenly hugged me, making my cheeks blush. I couldn't understand why.

"Stop being wild to my big bro, silly," he whispered, giving me goosebumps, before pushing him away.

"If you're not in your right mind, go find a bee's nest and stick your head in it!" I said.

"If I lose an ear because of you, you'll pay!" he shouted, running to the mirror.

"Good, because there are plenty of dogs on the street that you can borrow ears from!" I shouted back.

"Pfftt, bro, it looks like you've met your match," he laughed loudly, patting my shoulder.

I glared at him and was about to approach him when he screamed and ran away.

"Dad! Help me!!!" he shouted as he ran away.

I grinned, watching Yujin run like he was being chased by ten dogs. Wait, Dad? Dad gave me this address, and as far as I know, I don't have siblings like these... Did I enter the wrong house?

I quickly grabbed my belongings, thinking if this is the wrong house, I don't want to end up in jail. People would miss my handsome face if I got locked up. I was about to open the door when someone called my name.

My fear vanished when I saw Dad smiling at me, with Yujin smiling next to him and another guy to Dad's left, checking his watch. Our eyes met briefly, and I quickly looked away.

Fast forward to now, the five of us are sitting on the sofa, waiting for Dad to speak.

"Since you're already here, meet your brothers," Dad said.

"B-brothers?" I asked, confused.

"This one is Yujin, Seiji, and the last is Ayato," Dad said, pointing to each of them.

I nodded, making eye contact with Seiji, who had been glaring at me. His ear was still red. I stuck my tongue out at him while Dad wasn't looking, and he got visibly irritated.

"I have a business trip to Thailand tomorrow, so they'll be with you here," Dad continued.

I barely listened to Dad because I was enjoying teasing Seiji so much.

"Your room is next to Ayato's, and he doesn't like noise," Dad added.

"Can we sleep in the same bed?" Yujin asked, raising an eyebrow.

"He will sleep in my room tonight!" Seiji declared.

"How?" Ayato asked.

"Just wait and let me teach this one a lesson," Seiji said.

"Then after that, Dad will kill you," Yujin retorted.

I could see how annoyed Seiji was with me, so I made the most of it by grinning and teasing him while Dad wasn't looking.

"Make yourself at home. If you need to ask anything, just ask Yujin since he looks like a pet dog staring at you," Dad said.

"Dad! I wasn't staring at him at all, and I'm not a pet dog!" Yujin protested.

Dad and I laughed while Yujin fumed. One brother was glaring at me silently, and the other seemed to be drowning me with his eyes.

"If we're done here, may I excuse myself?" Ayato asked.

"Sure," Dad replied.

Ayato stood up and walked away. He was cold, but still handsome and tall like Seiji.

"Maki, you can go to your room now. Yujin, lead Maki and don't do any nonsense," Dad said.

"Sure, Dad," Yujin replied with a smile, grabbing some of my bags.

Yujin walked ahead, and I glanced back at Dad's seat. I saw Seiji smirk, making me feel something bad was about to happen. I ran up to Yujin, who was surprised but then smiled.

"If you need anything, brother, you can call me," Yujin said.

"Just call me Maki, not brother," I replied.

"Don't you want me to call you brother?" he asked playfully, pouting.

I glanced at his lips for a moment, and he noticed. I quickly pinched his cheek.

"I'm just used to being called Maki," I said with a smile, letting go of his cheek, which I had been holding for a while.

"Are you two flirting in front of my room?" Ayato said grumpily.

"What the-" I started, but Yujin pulled me into the room.

"Why did you pull me? I was about to teach that arrogant guy a lesson. He was so quiet and angelic in front of Dad," I complained.

"You don't know him at all, so don't mess with him," Yujin warned.

"But-" I started again, but he cut me off.

"We respect him even with that attitude. Without him, my brother and I would be dead," Yujin said.

"Dead?" I looked into his eyes, but he avoided my gaze.

"If you need anything, just call me. I have some important things to do. See you around, Maki," he said with a smile, leaving me to ponder what he had said.

Someone's POV

"Really?" I asked.

"Yes, son, he left around one o'clock," said Aling Lourdes.

"Do you know where Maki went?"

"No, son. Are you related to him?" Aling Lourdes asked.

"Ah, we're friends. We lost contact when I went back to the US. I'll be going now." I didn't wait for her to respond because it seemed pointless.

I got back in the car and saw my sister pouting at me.

"How is it, Brother? Did you find him? Did you ask him? Did you-"

"Stop it, Cindy! Can you ask one question at a time?" I said, irritated.

"Fine, sorry. But I'm not you. So, did you find him?" Cindy asked, smiling.

"He doesn't live there anymore. He left earlier today," I said.

I started driving us home. After a few minutes of silence, she spoke again.

"Brother, I really want to see him. I badly want to," she said sadly.

I didn't respond immediately, feeling my sister's sadness. I didn't want her to feel this way.

"Okay, just this once, I will help you find him, even if you don't tell me what your relationship with that guy is," I said, not looking at her.

"YAY!!! Thank you so much, Brother! You're the best!" Cindy said, hugging and shaking me in her excitement.

"Hey, I'm driving!"

I braked, and she stopped, sitting properly and smiling at me. I resumed driving, unable to help smiling back, seeing the happiness in her eyes and on her lips.

Who are you, Maki, in my sister's life? That question always lingered in my mind whenever I was with my sister.

"Brother?" Cindy called.

"Hmm?"

"You got a text," Cindy pointed to my phone on the side. I grabbed it and read the text.

"Seiji: Are you free tonight, bro?"

"Yeah, why?" I replied.

"Seiji: Just join us tonight at the same club."

"Okay, count me in," I texted back and turned off my phone.

There must be a problem again. Whenever we go to the club and he's the one who invites us, we know he's stressed.

"Was that Kuya Seiji?" Cindy asked.

"You know, even if you don't ask, you already know the answer," I said, shaking my head.

"brother, why is brother Seiji still single? He's handsome. Do you think he plans to be an old bachelor?" Cindy asked.

I didn't know, but I laughed at what she said. It would indeed be a waste of his good looks if Seiji grew old alone.

Ayato's POV

Dad asked me to bring Maki a bag he left downstairs, and out of everyone, he chose me.

I stood in front of his room and knocked twice, but there was no answer. I decided to enter and found him asleep, his shirt slightly lifted, exposing part of his stomach. I closed the door and approached him.

You just arrived, and the house is already noisy. What more if... I trailed off when he moved but remained asleep.

I sat on the edge of his bed and touched his cheek. So, this is what it's like to touch the cheek of a noisy person. I didn't know why, but I smiled at my thoughts. I kissed his forehead and adjusted his blanket. He had smooth, fair skin, smoother than a woman's. I stood up, leaving the bag by the bed, and exited the room, still smiling.

I went back to my room, trying to stop myself from smiling. Why am I smiling? It's just Maki.

I grinned widely as I revealed my winning cards, and my friends immediately voiced their complaints. "Sorry, guys. This one's mine!" I scooped up the bets from the table. "Come on, May-may! You always win!" "Are you cheating?" I flipped Fillan off for his comment. "You're just salty because you lost. Loser!" I taunted. "One more round, May!" Elmo challenged. "Nah, it's late," I said, glancing at my broken watch, which I only wore for style. "The dead aren't going anywhere! This place never closes anyway!" I glanced toward the house where our friend's coffin lay. Sam had been stabbed in the lung by his enemies. "You can help keep watch over Sam, too. It's tough staying up all night. Why don't you take his spot instead?" I smacked Elmo on the head. "How about I put you next to Sam instead?!" "Stay a little longer, May! Free snacks!" Fillan gestured toward the coffee and bread. I narrowed my eyes. They looked good. "Fine, I'll eat, then I'm leaving." "Stayyyy!" --- I ate the sandwich I took from Sam's wake as I walked through the dim alleyways toward home. "Out late again, May?" called out Tatay Gurong, drinking outside his house. "I was at Sam's." "That boyfriend of yours? Haven't seen him around lately." "He's dead," I replied casually, passing by. "Oh? What a waste." Hearing about deaths was normal here. A week without a killing was rare. This place was full of thugs, and honestly, I wouldn't even be surprised if someone got murdered in front of me. I was confident no one could intimidate me here-until I saw the man standing in front of my rented room. I instantly looked for a hiding spot. My sandwich slipped from my hand as I ducked behind a nearby post. Just as I was about to peek, a dog barked at me. My eyes widened in horror-it had definitely caught the man's attention. "Shut up, Choco!" I hissed at the dog. "You know me, damn it!" "Maria Zia Salazar?" I shrieked in shock at the man's voice. "Is that you?" "Look, dude, I swear, even though I was Sam's girlfriend, I had nothing to do with his debts. I don't have any money!" I pleaded, pulling out my pockets, which were full of candy. The man, dressed in a tuxedo, looked at my pockets, then at me, confused. "Even if you kidnap me, you'll get nothing. So just don't, okay?" I begged. He cleared his throat and stood straight. "Ms. Maria Zia Salazar Alaister." I froze at the mention of my full name. "I'm here to take you." I raised an eyebrow and laughed. "You've got the wrong person, dude." I walked past him. Before I could reach my rented room, two men blocked my way. "This is a direct order from your father, Giovanni Alaister," the man behind me said. I glared at him and turned around. "And what if I refuse?" I challenged. "We will use force," he said, pointing a gun at me. I met his gaze, my expression darkening. What does Giovanni want with me this time?!

"Lucien, let's get a divorce," I said in a peremptory tone that was long overdue, the most decisive farewell to this absurd marriage. We had been married for exactly three years-three years that, for me, were filled with nothing but endless loneliness and torment. For three years, the husband who should have stood by my side through every storm, Lucien Sullivan, had completely disappeared from my life as if he had never existed. He vanished without a trace, leaving me alone to endure this empty, desolate marriage. Today, I finally received his message: "I'm back. Come pick me up at the airport." When I read his words, my heart leapt with joy, and I raced to the airport, thinking that he finally understood my love and was coming back to me. But his cruelty was far worse than I could have ever imagined-he was accompanied by a pregnant woman, and that woman was Carla, my closest and most trusted friend. In that moment, all of my previous excitement, all my hope, and all of our shared laughter and tears turned into the sharpest of daggers, stabbing into my heart and leaving me gasping for air. Now, all I want is to escape from this place that has left me so broken-to lick my wounds in solitude. Even if these wounds will remain with me for the rest of my life, I refuse to have anything to do with him ever again. He should know that it was his own hand that trampled our love underfoot, that his coldness and betrayal created this irreparable situation. But when he heard those words, he desperately clung to this broken, crumbling marriage, unwilling to let it end-almost as though doing so could rewind time and return everything to how it used to be. "Aurora, come back. I regret everything!" Regret? Those simple words stirred no emotion in me-only endless sadness and fury. My heart let out a frantic, desperate scream: It's too late for any of this!

I Slapped My Fiancé-Then Married His Billionaire Nemesis

Being second best is practically in my DNA. My sister got the love, the attention, the spotlight. And now, even her damn fiancé. Technically, Rhys Granger was my fiancé now-billionaire, devastatingly hot, and a walking Wall Street wet dream. My parents shoved me into the engagement after Catherine disappeared, and honestly? I didn't mind. I'd crushed on Rhys for years. This was my chance, right? My turn to be the chosen one? Wrong. One night, he slapped me. Over a mug. A stupid, chipped, ugly mug my sister gave him years ago. That's when it hit me-he didn't love me. He didn't even see me. I was just a warm-bodied placeholder for the woman he actually wanted. And apparently, I wasn't even worth as much as a glorified coffee cup. So I slapped him right back, dumped his ass, and prepared for disaster-my parents losing their minds, Rhys throwing a billionaire tantrum, his terrifying family plotting my untimely demise. Obviously, I needed alcohol. A lot of alcohol. Enter him. Tall, dangerous, unfairly hot. The kind of man who makes you want to sin just by existing. I'd met him only once before, and that night, he just happened to be at the same bar as my drunk, self-pitying self. So I did the only logical thing: I dragged him into a hotel room and ripped off his clothes. It was reckless. It was stupid. It was completely ill-advised. But it was also: Best. Sex. Of. My. Life. And, as it turned out, the best decision I'd ever made. Because my one-night stand isn't just some random guy. He's richer than Rhys, more powerful than my entire family, and definitely more dangerous than I should be playing with. And now, he's not letting me go.
