Kira's POV
"I am officially an orphan," I gritted into my phone as I stormed into my apartment. "Today I disown my parents and will live a tumultuous life."
Stella scoffed on the other end. "Yeah right,"
"Can you believe them?!" I asked, kicking off my shoes in anger. "They betrothed me without my consent?! Who the hell does that, Stella?! It's the freakin 21st century, who on earth gets betrothed these days?"
Stella chuckled, obviously enjoying my breakdown. "Girl, I always knew shit was wrong with your parents, I just didn't know it was this bad."
Groaning, I flopped on the sofa in the living room, holding the phone pressed to my ear. Grabbing a handful of my golden blonde hair, I hissed through my teeth. "I still can't believe this! You can't believe this too right? Tell me you can't!"
"Oh, I believe it." My best friend snickered. "Your parents are bat shit crazy. Always knew that anyway. I suppose it's a good thing you're starting to see it."
You're not helping Stella.
She cackled and I could just imagine the wild grin on her face and those dark eyes glinting with glee. Stella loved being right. "You asked for it, woman. Told you being all prim and proper for your folks ain't worth it. Now look who's getting their ass pawned off on some ugly dick!"
"We don't know if he's ugly," I mumbled, taking a deep breath. Was I overreacting? How else was I supposed to react when my parents told me I was engaged to be married to some dude I had never met before?!
And they had told me through text! Text!
Damn, Stella was right. They were crazy!
"Who the hell cares how he looks? Getting you engaged to a man you've never met is flat-ass crazy. You should get revenge!"
I blinked confused. "I should?"
"Of course you should. You need to start living for yourself, girl, Or next thing you know, you're pregnant without your fucking consent!"
My lips curled in disgust. That was true. My parents had a knack for making decisions without involving me at all. They had decided what school, what college to attend, my apartment, my clothes, my future, basically every single thing!
My eyes fell on a framed picture of me and my parents on the wall. A stone-faced blonde girl with brown eyes stared right back at me.
"I don't know what the hell they want from me. I've been a good girl all my life. Lived nineteen good years, focused on my books alone. Hell! I've never even had a boyfriend! Why would they do this to me?!"
Tears stung my eyes and I blinked rapidly.
"See? You lived a boring ass life and now you're getting tossed to some rich boring guy. On the brighter side, you can spend all that Mula. That's enough to give you an orgasm."
I shuddered at the thought. No way. I didn't want to marry someone I didn't know. Or someone my stuck-up parents chose.
"You know what? Revenge sounds perfect." I grumbled, sitting up on the sofa. "I am done being their perfect little princess!"
Stella squealed excitedly. "That's my girl! We could hit the clubs and get some big ol dick to shove into you."
I grimaced. "That sounds horrifying. And it's not my kind of thing."
"Don't you dare chicken out!"
