Second Chance With My Disabled Boyfriend Chapter 1 1

For four years, I served as Caleb's assistant, and for three years, his companion.

I never imagined I could walk out of that villa that once imprisoned me.

Years ago, Nathan, the impoverished school heartthrob with disabled legs, went abroad. Six years later, he returned, staging a remarkable comeback and single-handedly bringing down the Griffin Group.

Caleb went bankrupt and became destitute.

Nathan carried me out of that villa, treating me like a princess for a year.

On my 26th birthday, Caleb killed me in that villa.

Nathan, covered in blood, held me in his arms, his expression eerily calm: "Scarlett, you go first. I'll follow soon."

As I gazed into his eyes, filled with tears of blood, I fervently prayed to the heavens to save him, to let him live.

My prayers were answered.

When I opened my eyes again, I was back at 18.

Nathan, this time, it's my turn to save you.

"Hey, I heard you're completely paralyzed from the waist down?"

"Oh, oh, oh, did your manhood break too?"

"Isn't that right, Nathan? Say something!"

"What's the point of talking? Strip him down and see, I've never seen a castrated guy before!"

"Heh heh, he used to be the most popular guy in school. A single photo of him could sell for hundreds! I wonder how much a naked photo of the heartthrob is worth..."

In the depths of the alley, a few shadows were tearing at a person on the ground.

I pulled out my phone and shouted, "Stop! I've called the police!"

Having just returned to this moment in time, I heard that Nathan was being bullied by some blonde thugs in the alley and rushed over. Thankfully, I made it in time.

In my previous life, Nathan had a car accident during our freshman year, which left his legs paralyzed, and he could only use a wheelchair.

Later, he was bullied by Caleb's thugs outside the school. They took indecent photos of him, spread them online to humiliate him, and spread rumors. He developed severe depression and had to take a break from school for over half a year.

Seven years later, he saved me from Caleb's men and took care of me meticulously. I saw him still taking sertraline for his depression.

This time, I would never let such a thing happen again!

Panting, I held up my phone towards them, "You perverts, how dare you molest a male student right at the school gate! I'm going to expose all of you on the social media confession page!"

The blonde thugs were furious, "Who's molesting a guy!"

"Damn! That's disgusting!"

"Scarlett, don't slander us! Put the phone down!"

"I'm not putting it down!" I said, hands on my hips, filming even more vigorously. "I'm broadcasting live! Soon, the whole school will know you perverts!"

The blonde thugs panicked, "Hey! We were just messing around!"

"Scarlett, be honest, it was Caleb who told us to teach Nathan a lesson!"

"Great, now Caleb's involved too!" I switched the camera to close-up, "Everyone, take a good look! These scumbags are openly bullying a classmate, acting despicably, and looking even more despicable! If you see them, beat them up!"

"Don't worry, my dear viewers! I just called the police, and they'll be here soon! The ones who should be scared are them!"

"And I'll make sure to tell the police all about Caleb, the mastermind behind this!"

"You bitch, you need to be taught a lesson..."

"Stop talking and run! It'll be worse when the police get here!"

The leader of the blonde thugs glared at me fiercely, then led the others, hastily covering their faces, and ran out the other end of the alley.

The phone felt heavy in my hand, a cold, dead weight. It had been a year since I last heard her voice, a year of silence that felt like a lifetime. My doctor' s words echoed in my head: "Glioblastoma, stage four. I' m sorry, Ethan. We' re talking months, maybe less." I called her, my thumb hovering over the button. "Happy wedding day," I said, pushing the words out. "And the second thing… you once promised that you' d carry my coffin after I die." The line went dead. A week after that promise, Olivia had left me. "I never loved you, Ethan," she had said, her face a mask of indifference. Her words broke me more than the illness ever could. That' s why I was in Zurich, in a sterile room, scheduled to end my life tomorrow. But then I saw her, by the lake, skipping stones, just like we used to. As I took a step towards her, a man came up, wrapping his arm around her waist. Liam Stone. "Olivia' s fiancé," he said, extending a hand. "We' re actually getting married tomorrow." My death day would be her wedding day. The universe had a sick sense of humor. I fled, only to stumble into the path of an oncoming tram. Olivia saved me, pulling me back. But as she pulled me up, her sleeve rode up, and I saw it: a silver bracelet, engraved with "L.S." She had been with him while we were still together. My life, my love, my everything, was a lie. "I' m dying," I told her, hoarse. "I have a brain tumor." Her facade cracked. Then, she asked me for a favor. "I need you to take the photos, Ethan. Just for the ceremony." I agreed, on one condition: "I want a photo. Just one. Of you and me. Together." She agreed, then immediately abandoned me for Liam. At the wedding, she used my origami stars, our special date on her new wedding ring. "It never meant anything, Ethan," she said, her eyes cold. "It was never real." I was numb. I left, heading back to the clinic, my fate sealed. Then, a text from Liam: We could use an extra hand with some last-minute wedding preparations. He was trying to buy my compliance, to turn my final day into a transaction. Fine, I replied. I didn' t know why I agreed. Maybe I needed to burn the image of her happiness into my brain so I could finally let go.

The heavy thud of the release stamp was the only goodbye I got from the warden after five years in federal prison. I stepped out into the blinding sun, expecting the same flash of paparazzi bulbs that had seen me dragged away in handcuffs, but there was only a single black limousine idling on the shoulder of the road. Inside sat my mother and sister, clutching champagne and looking at my frayed coat with pure disgust. They didn't offer a welcome home; instead, they tossed a thick legal document onto the table and told me I was dead to the city. "Gavin and I are getting engaged," my sister Mia sneered, flicking a credit card at me like I was a stray dog. "He doesn't need a convict ex-fiancée hanging around." Even after I saved their lives from an armed kidnapping attempt by ramming the attackers off the road, they rewarded me by leaving me stranded in the dirt. When I finally ran into Gavin, the man who had framed me, he pinned me against a wall and threatened to send me back to a cell if I ever dared to show my face at their wedding. They had stolen my biotech research, ruined my name, and let me rot for half a decade while they lived off my brilliance. They thought they had broken me, leaving me with nothing but an expired chapstick and a few old photos in a plastic bag. What they didn't know was that I had spent those five years becoming "Dr. X," a shadow consultant with five hundred million dollars in crypto and a secret that would bring the city to its knees. I wasn't just a victim anymore; I was a weapon, and I was pregnant with the heir they thought they had erased. I walked into the Melton estate and made an offer to the most powerful man in New York. "I'll save your grandfather's life," I told Horatio Melton, staring him down. "But the price is your last name. I'm taking back what's mine, and I'm starting with the man who thinks he's marrying my sister."
