The Billionaire's Secret Son. Chapter 1 1

Sophia's POV

At the early hours of Monday morning, as sun starts shining at a warm city of New York, I made my way to my art gallery shop as usual in the heart of city center.

I am Sophia, the gallery shop owner. as I stepped out of the cab that usually took me to my shop every morning, I take a look at the bustling streets with hope for the day.

I opened my gallery shop as usual, customers waiting for me hurried up for their different needs. I stood behind one of my beautiful gallery walls, as customers patronize.

In comes a deep black car, of which I thought it was one of my customers who patronize my shop. I looked at it in curiosity to know who this Billionaire is. The big car's door was ajar, coming out of it was a Billionaire mogul, Oliver Sterling.

His eyes looks over the busy streets of the city shops, taking in the elegant fashionable passersby. He adjusted his tailored suit jacket, his good looking writcwatch catching the light as he made his way towards the gallery shop entrance.

Inside, the gallery, there is a full of activity, filled with the soft murmur of conversations from people within. Took one sip from hi champagne glasses.

The rich paint and the vibrant colors of the artwork gallery were on display, it surprised him as he went through the decorated room, his eyes scanning the walls and the beautiful galleries on display.

Standing on the wall, was me in shock, he looked at me and asked who the gallery shop owner is. It's like he knew who I was, but to satisfy his curiosity, he asked me.

"I'm the shop owner, why do you asked? Do you want to buy one of my gallery, I asked.

I'm Sophia Bennett; I answered.

"What a striking woman with a dark curls and a determined expression, doing in this gallery shop? He asked.

I was standing near a stunning abstract painting gallery, I went closer to him.

I eyes alight with passion as I engaged in animated conversation with a group of art enthusiasts again, but I couldn't tear my looks away from him, I was captivated by his arrogant smile and the fierce energy that seemed to radiate from me was stunning.

As the crowd dispersed from my shop my eyes met his again, and a spark of recognition in my eyes is amazing. I approached him with a polite smile, my voice was full of respect and politeness.

"Can I help you find something, sir?" I asked him.

I looked at his face, like thousand times before he could replied.

"I'm actually here to speak with you, Miss. Bennett. I'm Oliver Sterling."

My eyes widened in surprise, my heart beat stopped a moment as I extended a hand in greeting.

You are welcome sir! I said.

"Oliver Sterling, the billionaire mogul? I asked.

"What brings you to my humble gallery shop this morning?"

His looks lingered on my hands as he hold it tight in his, it was like an electricity passing between us.

"Look, I've been following your work, Miss. Bennett. Your talent is undeniable. I believe we might have some business to discuss." He said.

I raised an eyebrow, my face filled with a mixture of surprised and curiosity.

"Business? What kind of business, Mr. Sterling?" I asked.

His expression remained impassive as he launched into his proposal.

"I have a proposition for you, Miss. Bennett. I understand that your gallery is facing some financial difficulties, and I would like to offer my assistance in exchange for a mutually beneficial arrangement."

I studied his face, searching for any hint of deception in his looks, but none.

"What kind of arrangement are you suggesting, Mr. Sterling?" I asked.

I leaned in slightly, his voice low and persuasive.

"A contract marriage, Miss. Bennett. We would enter into a mutually beneficial agreement where we would pretend to be in a relationship for a specified period of time. In return, you would receive financial support to save your gallery from its current troubles."

My eyes widened in shock, my mind reeling at the unexpected proposal. I had heard of Oliver Sterling's reputation as a powerful figure in the business world, but I never expected him to offer such a proposition. A lot of things have registered in my head already, I have my doubt about what he said.

I was very intrigue, and a flicker of something deeper that I couldn't quite identify.

After a moment of contemplation, I took a step back, my expression guarded.

"A contract marriage, Mr. Sterling? That's quite an unconventional offer. What guarantee do I have that you won't back out of our agreement?"

I met his gaze as I replied with confidence.

"I assure you, Miss. Bennett, my word is my bond. I am a man of my word, I'm a man with integrity and honor I always honor my commitments. He said

This arrangement would benefit us both – your gallery would be saved, and I would gain a partner who understands the differences of my world."

I felt a surge of conflicting emotions surge through my mind, intrigue, of hope that this arrangement could be the solution to my problems. I took a deep breath, my face steady as I made my decision.

"I need some time to think about your proposal, Mr. Sterling. This is a lot to consider." I said.

Oliver nodded, his expression unreadable as he replied.

"Take all the time you need, Miss. Bennett. I will be waiting for your decision. I believe that this arrangement could be the start of something truly remarkable for both of us."

With a nod of acknowledgment, I excused myself, my mind swirling with questions and possibilities. As I disappeared into the crowd, Oliver watched me with a mix of intrigue, knowing that our lives were about to change in ways neither of us could have ever imagined.

And so, the stage was set for an contractual partnership to blossom one that would forge a bond between two of us...

" This would lead us down a path of happiness and the secrets that would definitely be in our lives in such a way we never thought possible."

I had just survived a private jet crash, my body a map of violet bruises and my lungs still burning from the smoke. I woke up in a sterile hospital room, gasping for my husband's name, only to realize I was completely alone. While I was bleeding in a ditch, my husband, Adam, was on the news smiling at a ribbon-cutting ceremony. When I tracked him down at the hospital's VIP wing, I didn't find a grieving husband. I found him tenderly cradling his ex-girlfriend, Casie, in his arms, his face lit with a protective warmth he had never shown me as he carried her into the maternity ward. The betrayal went deeper than I could have imagined. Adam admitted the affair started on our third anniversary-the night he claimed he was stuck in London for a merger. Back at the manor, his mother had already filled our planned nursery with pink boutique bags for Casie's "little princess." When I demanded a divorce, Adam didn't flinch. He sneered that I was "gutter trash" from a foster home and that I'd be begging on the streets within a week. To trap me, he froze my bank accounts, cancelled my flight, and even called the police to report me for "theft" of company property. I realized then that I wasn't his partner; I was a charity case he had plucked from obscurity to manage his life. To the Hortons, I was just a servant who happened to sleep in the master bedroom, a "resilient" woman meant to endure his abuse in silence while the whole world laughed at the joke that was my marriage. Adam thought stripping me of his money would make me crawl back to him. He was wrong. I walked into his executive suite during his biggest deal of the year and poured a mug of sludge over his original ten-million-dollar contracts. Then, right in front of his board and his mistress, I stripped off every designer thread he had ever paid for until I was standing in nothing but my own silk camisole. "You can keep the clothes, Adam. They're as hollow as you are." I grabbed my passport, turned my back on his billions, and walked out of that glass tower barefoot, bleeding, and finally free.

I was sitting in the Presidential Suite of The Pierre, wearing a Vera Wang gown worth more than most people earn in a decade. It was supposed to be the wedding of the century, the final move to merge two of Manhattan's most powerful empires. Then my phone buzzed. It was an Instagram Story from my fiancé, Jameson. He was at Charles de Gaulle Airport in Paris with a caption that read: "Fuck the chains. Chasing freedom." He hadn't just gotten cold feet; he had abandoned me at the altar to run across the world. My father didn't come in to comfort me. He burst through the door roaring about a lost acquisition deal, telling me the Holland Group would strip our family for parts if the ceremony didn't happen by noon. My stepmother wailed about us becoming the laughingstock of the Upper East Side. The Holland PR director even suggested I fake a "panic attack" to make myself look weak and sympathetic to save their stock price. Then Jameson’s sleazy cousin, Pierce, walked in with a lopsided grin, offering to "step in" and marry me just to get his hands on my assets. I looked at them and realized I wasn't a daughter or a bride to anyone in that room. I was a failed asset, a bouncing check, a girl whose own father told her to go to Paris and "beg" the man who had just publicly humiliated her. The girl who wanted to be loved died in that mirror. I realized that if I was going to be sold to save a merger, I was going to sell myself to the one who actually controlled the money. I marched past my parents and walked straight into the VIP holding room. I looked the most powerful man in the room—Jameson’s cold, ruthless uncle, Fletcher Holland—dead in the eye and threw the iPad on the table. "Jameson is gone," I said, my voice as hard as stone. "Marry me instead."

I lived as the "scarred ghost" of the Stephens penthouse, a wife kept in the shadows because my facial burns offended my billionaire husband’s aesthetic. For years, I endured Kason’s coldness and my family's abuse, a submissive puppet who believed she had nowhere else to go. The end came with a blue folder tossed onto my silk sheets. Kason’s mistress was back, and he wanted me out by sunset, offering a five-million-dollar "silence fee" to go hide my face in the countryside. The betrayal cut deep when I discovered my father had already traded my divorce for a corporate bailout. My step-sister mocked my "trashy" appearance at a high-end boutique, while the sales staff treated me like a common thief. At home, my father threatened to cut off my mother's life-saving medicine unless I crawled back to Kason to beg for a better deal. I was the girl who took the blame for a fire she didn't start, the wife who worshipped a man who never looked her in the eye, and the daughter used as a human bargaining chip. I was supposed to be broken, penniless, and desperate. But the woman who stood up wasn't the weak Elease Finch anymore; she was Phoenix, a tactical predator with a $500 million secret. I signed the divorce papers without a single tear, walked past my stunned husband, and wiped the Finch family's bank accounts clean with a few taps on my phone. "Your money is dirty," I told Kason with a cold smile. "I prefer clean hands." The cage is open, the hunt has begun, and I’m starting with the people who thought a scar made me weak.

I married Clive Harrington, the coldest billionaire in Manhattan, under a strict contract that forbade any emotional burdens. When I needed a high-risk surgery to save my sight, I checked into the clinic alone, hiding the procedure from a husband who saw me as nothing more than a legal asset. I thought I could handle the darkness in silence. But while I was blind and bandaged in my hospital bed, my biological mother called, screaming that if I didn't produce a Harrington heir by the end of the fiscal year, she would cut off the life-saving treatments for my disabled sister. I was crawling on the cold hospital floor, desperately feeling for a cane I had dropped, when I touched a pair of expensive leather shoes. It was Clive. He was supposed to be in London closing a multi-million dollar deal, but there he was, watching his "contract wife" groveling in the dark like a beggar. He didn't walk away in disgust. He carried me to a five-thousand-dollar-a-night VIP suite and sat by my bed, listening in chilling silence as another voicemail from my mother filled the room, calling me a "useless broodmare" who was only worth the trust fund disbursements my marriage secured. I expected him to remind me of Clause 34B or hand me divorce papers now that I was "damaged goods." Instead, I felt his thumb brush a stray tear from my cheek, his presence shifting from a statue of ice into a predatory shield. "I thought I was just currency to you," I whispered, my voice trembling behind the gauze. "Just an investment." Clive didn't answer with words. He picked up his phone and called his head of legal with a single, terrifying command: "Kill the Douglas family’s credit lines. Every debt, every lien—trigger them all. If they want a war, I’ll give them a massacre." As he leaned down to kiss my bandaged forehead, I realized the contract was dead. My husband wasn't protecting an asset anymore; he was hunting the people who had dared to touch what belonged to him.
