A Revenge on my ex-husband Chapter 1 CHARLOTTE'S POV

I stood still at the entrance of the hotel. My heart was racing as I followed Brandon to the hotel.

I'd suspected he had an affair but I wanted to be wrong. I was hoping and wishing it wasn't true but there's only one way for me to find out and come to terms with my reality.

Brandon and I have been together for a year and a half and I've always tried my best to put his interests before mine. As long as he was happy I was happy as well.

My father always had his doubts about him, My dad always wanted me to be careful and not to make him influence my life.

After college, Brandon had proposed and I was so excited to get married to him. My dad has always had my best interests at heart, He made sure to always ask if that's what I wanted and if I was under pressure of any kind.

I took a deep breath and I entered the hotel and walked over to the attendant at the reception.

"Ple...please can you tell me if a man named Brandon Coslin is-" With a shaky voice I tried to get the information I needed to clear my doubts and how I hoped and prayed I was overthinking things but I was cut short by the nervous attendant.

"Sorry ma'am, I am not allowed to give such information out" She urged. I knew I had to do whatever it took to get the information.

"Please you are a woman, I need to know if my fiance is with another woman right now, I am pregnant" I blurted out, which was a lie but I needed to get to his room.

I hadn't told anyone about my suspicions. the news to anyone yet, I kept it hidden and pretended as if everything was fine but in reality, I was burning deep inside.

The attendant sighed and looked at me with pity.

"Room C15, but please if anyone gets to know about this I will lose my job" I nodded and gave a reassuring smile before I dashed off and headed straight to the room.

Room C15, I stood by the door, I heard some moans and screams but I didn't want to believe it was Brandon in there. After a minute I took a deep breath and knocked on the door.

"Yeah, who is there?" I heard his masculine voice and tears streamed down my eyes I gathered myself and lowly said "Room service" I hoped he would open the door and let me in, I wanted this nightmare to end.

The door opened and it revealed his face.

I pushed the door and entered the room, I couldn't see the girl under the covers. The shocked expression on his face revealed everything I needed to know.

"Brandon, why?" Those were the only words that could come out of my mouth.

"Charlotte, It is not what it looks like" I can't believe he was lying straight into my face.

"It looks like you buried your cock right into this whore" I shouted and before I could say more things the lady under the covers revealed herself and my stomach twisted.

"Tatiana?" I whimpered, Tears streamed down my eyes as I could not believe he could cheat on me with my sister.

Tatiana grabbed the covers leaped out of bed and stood behind Brandon "Sissy, it's not what it looks like" Tatiana spoke from behind Brandon.

"Charlotte, I love her" Those words that left Brandon's mouth were worse than sharp daggers I staggered and fell on the couch.

"You bastard! " I screamed and rushed to where he stood and grabbed his robe "We have been seeing each other for months now" Brandon revealed.

I thought I couldn't feel worse than I already did, I was wrong.

"I gave you my body, my world, You were my first!" I kept screaming till I felt cold masculine hands pressing down my neck, Brandon held my neck tight and pushed me to the wall.

"Be quiet, Stop your blabbering" Brandon bellowed.

"Le..let go!" I yelled "Let her go brandy," Tatiana insisted and I felt the grip loosen on my neck.

"You should give me space, I need to think, Move into the visitor's room for now." Brandon declared. I got on my knees and pleaded "Please don't leave me, please I love you" I begged and continued weeping till he held the back of my head and picked me up from the floor before throwing me out of the door.

"Don't be in the room when I go back home" Brandon said before he shut the door on my face.

"Please Brandon, You can't do this to me please" I slowly cried and made my way to the entrance of the hotel and cried, I stayed there for over an hour before I got a cab to take me back home.

I thought of the ways I could tell his mother and she could help me reason with him. I was determined to get him back.

I got to his home and I saw his mother getting something from the kitchen, I walked slowly till I reached the kitchen.

When she saw me, She kissed her teeth and looked at me in a demeaning way "Peel some oranges for me" She commanded but I was used to doing things around the house so this wasn't any different.

"Yes ma'am" Monica also requested that I don't call her mom because she said she didn't want a daughter like me in her next life.

When I didn't move, She decided to nudge me to get to it.

"Go on why are you standing guard at the door, silly girl" I tried hard to maintain my composure but I couldn't hide it any longer. I started wailing in the kitchen and Her face was filled with disgust.

"I...I caught Brandon cheating on me with my sister" I worded the words slowly while weeping.

"I wouldn't blame him, You don't perform your wifely duties properly, So he had to go for someone more active and younger, what do you want me to do?" Monica said distastefully.

At this point, the tears kept coming and I didn't know how to stop it.

"I try my best" I tried to defend myself.

"Well clearly your best is not enough" Monica hissed back a reply. Regardless of her reply, my mind was filled with thoughts.

What did I do to make him hate me this much? It wasn't always rosy but we got through difficult times together.

I always do what he tells me to do. I never for once doubted his love for me.

As I held my luggage, I was about to take them to the visitor's room when I heard Brandon's car in the driveway before he parked at the garage.

He opened the door and he was with Tatiana and I saw her bags and box.

"I thought I said I didn't want to meet you here," Brandon said angrily "Why are you doing this to me?" I mumbled "Stop asking me stupid questions and leave" Brandon replied "I think you should listen to him sissy, please leave!" Tatiana said while removing her shoes in the sitting room, Something Brandon hated to see me do. I cast a long glare at her and she shifted her gaze and lowered her head.

"Do you need anything, baby?" Brandon asked Tatiana as she was on her phone.

"Yes, order food and I need a leg massage," Tatiana said, They both completely ignored my existence. It was like I wasn't standing there and they didn't just completely ruin my life.

"Brandon, Please let's talk about this" He rolled his eyes and he blazed with intensity as he looked at me. He walked into the room while holding Tatiana's waist.

I was once the heiress to the Solomon empire, but after it crumbled, I became the "charity case" ward of the wealthy Hyde family. For years, I lived in their shadows, clinging to the promise that Anson Hyde would always be my protector. That promise shattered when Anson walked into the ballroom with Claudine Chapman on his arm. Claudine was the girl who had spent years making my life a living hell, and now Anson was announcing their engagement to the world. The humiliation was instant. Guests sneered at my cheap dress, and a waiter intentionally sloshed champagne over me, knowing I was a nobody. Anson didn't even look my way; he was too busy whispering possessively to his new fiancée. I was a ghost in my own home, watching my protector celebrate with my tormentor. The betrayal burned. I realized I wasn't a ward; I was a pawn Anson had kept on a shelf until he found a better trade. I had no money, no allies, and a legal trust fund that Anson controlled with a flick of his wrist. Fleeing to the library, I stumbled into Dallas Koch-a titan of industry and my best friend's father. He was a wall of cold, absolute power that even the Hydes feared. "Marry me," I blurted out, desperate to find a shield Anson couldn't climb. Dallas didn't laugh. He pulled out a marriage agreement and a heavy fountain pen. "Sign," he commanded, his voice a low rumble. "But if you walk out that door with me, you never go back." I signed my name, trading my life for the only man dangerous enough to keep me safe.

I went to the City Clerk’s office for a routine copy of my marriage license to finalize a trust fund audit. I expected a simple piece of paper, but the clerk’s pitying look told me my entire life was a lie. "The license was never finalized, Ms. Oliver. In the eyes of the state, you are single." The three-hundred-guest wedding at the Plaza and the Vogue features meant nothing. My husband, Gray Cooley, had intentionally filed the documents with a "procedural defect" so he could discard me without a legal divorce. Moments later, an iCloud invite titled "Our Little Secret" popped up on my screen. It was a photo of my best friend, Brylee, holding a positive pregnancy test at our Hamptons estate. Gray’s text to her was the final blow: "Happy anniversary, babe. This baby is the best gift. Once the trust unlocks today, we’re done with the charade." I soon discovered they were even stealing my career, reassigning my architectural masterpiece to Brylee while preparing my eviction notice. Gray's mother called me a "barren mule" in a leaked recording, mocking the infertility I suffered after saving Gray’s life in a construction accident. I wasn't a wife; I was a three-year placeholder used to secure his inheritance. How could the man I bled for treat me like a disposable prop? How could my best friend carry his child while pretending to comfort me through my darkest moments? The betrayal burned until it turned into a cold, hard stone of fury. I didn't cry. Instead, I walked into the penthouse of the Barretts, the Cooleys' most powerful rivals. I signed a marriage contract with Kane Barrett, the man the tabloids called the "Beast of Wall Street." "I want a wedding," I told his father, my voice steady and lethal. "Bigger than the one I had with Gray." If they wanted me gone, they would have to watch me become the woman who owns their world.

I stood at my mother's open grave in the freezing rain, my heels sinking into the mud. The space beside me was empty. My husband, Hilliard Holloway, had promised to cherish me in bad times, but apparently, burying my mother didn't fit into his busy schedule. While the priest's voice droned on, a news alert lit up my phone. It was a livestream of the Metropolitan Charity Gala. There was Hilliard, looking impeccable in a custom tuxedo, with his ex-girlfriend Charla English draped over his arm. The headline read: "Holloway & English: A Power Couple Reunited?" When he finally returned to our penthouse at 2 AM, he didn't come alone-he brought Charla with him. He claimed she'd had a "medical emergency" at the gala and couldn't be left alone. I found a Tiffany diamond necklace on our coffee table meant for her birthday, and a smudge of her signature red lipstick on his collar. When I confronted him, he simply told me to stop being "hysterical" and "acting like a child." He had no idea I was seven months pregnant with his child. He thought so little of my grief that he didn't even bother to craft a convincing lie, laughing with his mistress in our home while I sat in the dark with a shattered heart and a secret life growing inside me. "He doesn't deserve us," I whispered to the darkness. I didn't scream or beg. I simply left a folder on his desk containing signed divorce papers and a forged medical report for a terminated pregnancy. I disappeared into the night, letting him believe he had successfully killed his own legacy through his neglect. Five years later, Hilliard walked into "The Vault," the city's most exclusive underground auction, looking for a broker to manage his estate. He didn't recognize me behind my Venetian mask, but he couldn't ignore the neon pink graffiti on his armored Maybach that read "DEADBEAT." He had no clue that the three brilliant triplets currently hacking his security system were the very children he thought had been erased years ago. This time, I wasn't just a wife in the way; I was the one holding all the cards.

The sterile white of the operating room blurred, then sharpened, as Skye Sterling felt the cold clawing its way up her body. The heart monitor flatlined, a steady, high-pitched whine announcing her end. Her uterus had been removed, a desperate attempt to stop the bleeding, but the blood wouldn't clot. It just kept flowing, warm and sticky, pooling beneath her. Through heavy eyes, she saw a trembling nurse holding a phone on speaker. "Mr. Kensington," the nurse's voice cracked, "your wife... she's critical." A pause, then a sweet, poisonous giggle. Seraphina Miller. "Liam is in the shower," Seraphina's voice purred. "Stop calling, Skye. It's pathetic. Faking a medical emergency on our anniversary? Even for you, that's low." Then, Liam's bored voice: "If she dies, call the funeral home. I have a meeting in the morning." Click. The line went dead. A second later, so did Skye. The darkness that followed was absolute, suffocating, a black ocean crushing her lungs. She screamed into the void, a silent, agonizing wail of regret for loving a man who saw her as a nuisance, for dying without ever truly living. Until she died, she didn't understand. Why was her life so tragically wasted? Why did her husband, the man she loved, abandon her so cruelly? The injustice of it all burned hotter than the fever in her body. Then, the air rushed back in. Skye gasped, her body convulsing violently on the mattress. Her eyes flew open, wide and terrified, staring blindly into the darkness. Her trembling hand reached for her phone. May 12th. Five years ago. She was back.
