Chapter 1 Truth

" Come on Miranda it's your turn now,is it a truth or dare." Ava shouted in the loudest of her voice.

The group of four besties were having the night of their life.

Miranda Lambert, CEO of the Lambert group. Ava Adams, The country's top model with the highest fan base. Lucia Mendez, the country's sought after designer and Stacy Carl's,the CEO of Hope group of hospitals and a world wide famous surgeon.

" Dare!" Miranda made the choice she would regret in less than 12 hours.

How could they ask her such a question? they were supposed to be her friends after all.

Dating Carlos? Even she wanted to date him but the guy blatantly rejected her advances saying she's more masculine than him.

That had been a huge blow to her ego.

Yes,she admits that she dresses like a man but that doesn't mean she's a man.

" Kiss the closest man wearing red." Lucia gave the verdict with a smirk on her face.

Their friend was already 26 years old yet she has never kissed anyone.

The two friends erupted into laughter seeing Miranda getting roasted by Lucia. It's her bad luck for choosing dare over truth to Lucia's question.

" I can't do that!" Miranda protested but she knew there's no way Lucia would let her off.

" A deal is a deal Miranda. what? Are you chickening out because you are preserving your first kiss for Carlos? Does he know that? I think I'll call him and break the good news to him" Lucia said tauntingly.

" Okay, okay..I'll do it." How could Miranda allow Lucia to call that hateful Man,he might embarass her till she loses the last thread of dignity she has left.

Turning to look at the crowd across the bar, Miranda spotted a man two seats away clad in a red t-shirt and black jeans. He was handsome or at least that's what she saw.

'it's just a kiss.' Miranda chanted in her mind to gather all the courage she needed for that one action.

Jumping off the seat, she walked confidently towards the man while her friends cheered her up.

She patted his back and just as he turned to look at her,she pulled him to herself and crashed her lips to his.

The man in question stilled in place as if he was glued. Justin felt something cold and soft smash to his lips. It wasn't a peck but the kiss wasn't deep either. He could feel her sweet taste of grapes spread through his mouth but before he could pull her to himself and deepen the kiss, she had already backed out and ran away from the club as if she was burning.

The three friends seeing Miranda run off after kissing the man took that as their cue to leave.

They picked up their clutches and Lucia placed a wad of cash at the table before they followed Miranda out, still giggling.

Justin who was stupefied by their actions came back to his senses.

He was out here to have a few drinks with his friends after pleading with his Manager and now he could not let a scandal appear in the tabloids tomorrow.

He was afterall a top movie star and a model. If a picture of him kissing a woman circulated in the entertainment platforms, then only god knows what will happen to the woman in question.

Picking his phone,he made a call.

"Secure any picture that could have been taken tonight otherwise you will have a lot of explaining to do tomorrow," he instructed.

His manager, June, was sleeping when the call came through.

" What did you do this time?" She asked.

" Who? me? I didn't do anything!" Justin defended himself.

" If you didn't do anything, why do you need me to secure whatever pictures were taken?" June asked back.

Other Managers get to at least rest at night, but she on the other hand works 24/7

" I don't know what happened,a lady just approached me and before I knew it,she kissed me." Justin explained, trying to come clean before his manager misunderstands him again.

" A lady you say? Is she one of your many flings?" June questioned.

" I swear June,I don't have anything to do with her. I don't even know her." Justin continued.

" That's what you tell me everytime." June said uninterested.

" Believe me,I am telling the truth this time."

" Okay, I'll see what I can do about that but I won't promise you anything." said June before dropping the phone.

"Shit, she didn't believe me. But I am innocent this time." Justin said, pouting gaining a pat from his friend.

" Do you want me to look into the identity of that woman?" Ronald offered his help to his friend.

They two have been friends since childhood. While Justin chose to pursue his career in acting, Ronald inherited his father's position as a Mafia Lord.

" You can do that for me?" Justin eagerly asked.

" Of Course I can,I'll owe you one for that favour." Ronald replied. He was a businessman after all and doesn't do anything for free.

" I knew it but I think it's okay, get me all the details about that woman before morning." Justin replied.

" And by any you mean?" Ronald asked cocking a brow at his friend who could be considered as his brother.

" All details, her name, where she lives, where she works, is she married or does she have a boyfriend? if Yes then who's the partner, What she likes eating, her favourite song.... just get everything on her." Justin replied.

" Sure, consider it done." Ronald replied.

" I think we should call it a night." Justin said, preparing to walk out of the club.

" What's the hurry? let's have two more shots." Ronald tried to persuade him but Justin was adamant to leave.

" I have an early shoot tomorrow so I should go and rest." He explained. Truth is he was far from resting tonight. Not with his emotions going haywire and a certain part of his body going in attention.

He cursed softly when he felt his manhood bulging. He couldn't control it after that kiss he shared with that Mysterious woman.

Justin was not new to women throwing themselves to him,but something about that woman felt different. She had an aura of secrecy and mystery surrounding her.

For seventeen years, I was the crown jewel of the Kensington empire, the perfect daughter groomed for a royal future. Then, a cream-colored envelope landed in my lap, bearing a gold crest and a truth that turned my world into ice. The DNA test result was a cold, hard zero percent-I wasn't a Kensington. Before the ink could even dry, my parents invited my replacement, a girl named Alleen, into the drawing room and treated me like a trespasser in my own home. My mother, who once hosted galas in my honor, wouldn't even look me in the eye as she stroked Alleen's arm, whispering that she was finally "safe." My father handed me a one-million-dollar check-a mere tip for a billionaire-and told me to leave immediately to avoid tanking the company's stock price. "You're a thief! You lived my life, you spent my money, and you don't get to keep the loot!" Alleen shrieked, trying to claw the designer jacket off my shoulders while my "parents" watched with clinical detachment. I was dumped on a gritty sidewalk in Queens with nothing but three trunks and the address of a struggling laborer I was now supposed to call "Dad." I traded a marble mansion for a crumbling walk-up where the air smelled of exhaust and my new bedroom was a literal storage closet. My biological family thought I was a broken princess, and the Kensingtons thought they had successfully erased me with a payoff and a non-disclosure agreement. They had no idea that while I was hauling trunks up four flights of stairs, my secret media empire was already preparing to move against them. As I sat on a thin mattress in the dark, I opened my encrypted laptop and sent a single command that would cost my former father ten million dollars by breakfast. They thought they were throwing me to the wolves, but they forgot one thing: I'm the one who leads the pack.

I had just survived a private jet crash, my body a map of violet bruises and my lungs still burning from the smoke. I woke up in a sterile hospital room, gasping for my husband's name, only to realize I was completely alone. While I was bleeding in a ditch, my husband, Adam, was on the news smiling at a ribbon-cutting ceremony. When I tracked him down at the hospital's VIP wing, I didn't find a grieving husband. I found him tenderly cradling his ex-girlfriend, Casie, in his arms, his face lit with a protective warmth he had never shown me as he carried her into the maternity ward. The betrayal went deeper than I could have imagined. Adam admitted the affair started on our third anniversary-the night he claimed he was stuck in London for a merger. Back at the manor, his mother had already filled our planned nursery with pink boutique bags for Casie's "little princess." When I demanded a divorce, Adam didn't flinch. He sneered that I was "gutter trash" from a foster home and that I'd be begging on the streets within a week. To trap me, he froze my bank accounts, cancelled my flight, and even called the police to report me for "theft" of company property. I realized then that I wasn't his partner; I was a charity case he had plucked from obscurity to manage his life. To the Hortons, I was just a servant who happened to sleep in the master bedroom, a "resilient" woman meant to endure his abuse in silence while the whole world laughed at the joke that was my marriage. Adam thought stripping me of his money would make me crawl back to him. He was wrong. I walked into his executive suite during his biggest deal of the year and poured a mug of sludge over his original ten-million-dollar contracts. Then, right in front of his board and his mistress, I stripped off every designer thread he had ever paid for until I was standing in nothing but my own silk camisole. "You can keep the clothes, Adam. They're as hollow as you are." I grabbed my passport, turned my back on his billions, and walked out of that glass tower barefoot, bleeding, and finally free.

For seventeen years, I was the pride of the Carlisle family, the perfect daughter destined to inherit an empire. But that life ended the moment a DNA report slid across my father’s mahogany desk. The paper proved I was a stranger. Vanessa, the girl sobbing in the corner, was the real biological daughter they had been searching for. "You need to leave. Tonight. Before the press gets wind of this. Before the stock prices dip." My father’s voice was as cold as flint. My mother wouldn't even look at me, staring out the window at the gardens as if I were already a ghost. Just like that, I was erased. I left behind the Birkin bags and the diamonds, throwing my Centurion Card into a crystal bowl with a clatter that echoed like a gunshot. I walked out into the cold night and climbed into a rusted Ford Taurus driven by a man I had never met—my biological father. I went from a mansion to a fourth-floor walk-up in Queens that smelled of laundry detergent and struggle. My new siblings looked at me with a mix of fear and disgust, waiting for the "fallen princess" to break. They expected me to beg for my old life back, to crumble without the luxury I’d known since birth. But they didn't know the truth. I had spent years training in a shark tank, honing survival skills they couldn't imagine. While Richard Carlisle froze my trust funds to starve me out, my net worth was climbing by millions on an encrypted trading app. They thought they were throwing me to the wolves. They didn't realize they were just letting me off my leash. As the Carlisles prepared to debut Vanessa at the Manhattan Arts Gala, I was already making my move. "Get dressed. We're going to a party."

Nicole had entered marriage with Walter, a man who never returned her feelings, bound to him through an arrangement made by their families rather than by choice. Even so, she had held onto the quiet belief that time might soften his heart and that one day he would learn to love her. However, that day never came. Instead, he treated her with constant contempt, tearing her down with cruel words and dismissing her as fat and manipulative whenever it suited him. After two years of a cold and distant marriage, Walter demanded a divorce, delivering his decision in the most degrading manner he could manage. Stripped of her dignity and exhausted by the humiliation, Nicole agreed to her friend Brenda's plan to make him see what he had lost. The idea was simple but daring. She would use another man to prove that the woman Walter had mocked and insulted could still be desired by someone else. All they had to do was hire a gigolo. Patrick had endured one romantic disappointment after another. Every woman he had been involved with had been drawn not to him, but to his wealth. As one of the heirs to a powerful and influential family, he had long accepted that this pattern was almost unavoidable. What Patrick wanted was far more difficult to find. He longed to fall in love with a woman who cared for him as a person, not for the name he carried or the fortune attached to it. One night, while he was at a bar, an attractive stranger approached him. Because of his appearance and composed demeanor, she mistook him for a gigolo. She made an unconventional proposal, one that immediately caught his interest and proved impossible for him to refuse.
