The Alpha's Golden Warrior Chapter 1 PROLOGUE

Dimah Qazi; 12 years old

"Listen to me darling," Moms voice wavered, "run, run as far as you can, away from these grounds-"

Black smoke swarmed the night skies and enveloped us in a serene silence, away from the breaking branches and bellowing fires. All I could see were those green eyes staring back at me, glossy and tired.

"Go south, past the dungeons-" A scream sliced through night, befalling a strange uncertainty within my soul, "and just keep running, ok habibti?"

My eyes followed the door knob that began jiggling, my heart accelerating in its beats. My mother grabbed my slim arms, shaking me to consciousness I was barely grasping onto. The smoke was blinding me, it was slithering up my veins and clogging every pathway I opted for a way out, but mom didn't stand for that.

"Wake up, Dimah! Don't deprive me of those eyes I gave you, not now," I blinked hard at her words, opening my eyes as wide as I could, "good girl, just how I raised you,"

The sound of our door being banged echoed within the four walls of our home.

"Once you turn 18, run to the castle and become the golden warrior your father raised you to be. Understood?" I nodded urgently, trying my best to find a way to get us both out of here, alive and well.

Mother looked behind her, at the door knob that was jiggling with such valency it's screws were unwinding. Her grip on my arms tightened, eliciting tears to my eyes, not at the pain, but at the thought of having to run out of her embrace, at the thought of having to look into her eyes for the last time.

"Mama, I can't," I shook my head at her, traitorous tears escaping the sockets of my eyes, "I can't-"

Mother pulled me into her arms, her shoulders shaking as she sobbed into my own. It was her attempt at silencing me, and it had worked. There was no time, the screws began falling out of the knob, the screams grew louder and the fires outside our home bloomed. I could have only hoped that father and Slaiman made it out alive.

"I love you, habiti," She whispered into my hair, caressing my quivering back.

"I love you too, mama," As I uttered my last words, mother let go of me, her eyes sparkling with a force I'd never witnessed before. She inched her head to the direction of my closet and placed a hand on her lip, forcing me into further silence.

It was the first time I'd seen her so enthralled in sadness. In melancholic rage so robust it had scared me into the closet out of fear I did not understand it.

I listened to her. What else could I have done? The darkness of my closet was suffocating; space non existent and air concentrated in tar. Though something caught my eyes. Throughout the voice of blackness, something called out for me. A glint, a reflection, I didn't know, but it was something, something out of the darkness.

Silently, I knocked onto the back of my wardrobe, only to hear a hollow sound that echoed back at me. There was something behind the closet.

As I went to break it down, the sound of wood shattering and soldiers screaming sprung into our home. I screamed into my hands and dug my head into my knees, unable to control the quivering of my body.

I peaked through the gap of the doors, watching as mother grabbed her sword, the sound of its metal threatening, and growled so loudly the grounds shook. My wolf whimpered, itching for us to make a move, one that may or may not have us killed.

And so I sat there, watching as mother fought off tens of soldiers, eliminating each one with such feral force doubt grew in their eyes.

All until one soldier.

Until one coward crawled behind her, rose his sword, and plunged it into her back.

I screamed.

So loudly the stars wavered and the clouds parted.

With glass eyes I watched her body grow limp, I heard her sword clink onto the ground and her eyes turn dull.

Without a second thought, I sprung out of the closet, growling so menacingly the walls rumbled. I couldn't see properly, I couldn't see anything but red. With elongated claws I sliced the murdering soldiers neck and kneed him in the head.

The soldier behind him grabbed me by the waist with one hand and slapped his other onto my mouth. I bit it till I felt his bone crunch. With a guttural growl he dropped me to the ground. My eyes scattered to find one weapon when they landed on mothers sword.

I saw my green eyes in them. I saw her in my reflection.

Was I going to die today or make it out alive?

I grabbed the sword and plunged it into his stomach, no more screams left in me.

That day, I crawled through the passage father had dug for me, my ears ringing in the sound of my pack members shouting, calling for help. I ran south and didn't look back.

I ran till mothers dull eyes left my thoughts.

Till I dropped, nothing left in me anymore.

I had just survived a private jet crash, my body a map of violet bruises and my lungs still burning from the smoke. I woke up in a sterile hospital room, gasping for my husband's name, only to realize I was completely alone. While I was bleeding in a ditch, my husband, Adam, was on the news smiling at a ribbon-cutting ceremony. When I tracked him down at the hospital's VIP wing, I didn't find a grieving husband. I found him tenderly cradling his ex-girlfriend, Casie, in his arms, his face lit with a protective warmth he had never shown me as he carried her into the maternity ward. The betrayal went deeper than I could have imagined. Adam admitted the affair started on our third anniversary-the night he claimed he was stuck in London for a merger. Back at the manor, his mother had already filled our planned nursery with pink boutique bags for Casie's "little princess." When I demanded a divorce, Adam didn't flinch. He sneered that I was "gutter trash" from a foster home and that I'd be begging on the streets within a week. To trap me, he froze my bank accounts, cancelled my flight, and even called the police to report me for "theft" of company property. I realized then that I wasn't his partner; I was a charity case he had plucked from obscurity to manage his life. To the Hortons, I was just a servant who happened to sleep in the master bedroom, a "resilient" woman meant to endure his abuse in silence while the whole world laughed at the joke that was my marriage. Adam thought stripping me of his money would make me crawl back to him. He was wrong. I walked into his executive suite during his biggest deal of the year and poured a mug of sludge over his original ten-million-dollar contracts. Then, right in front of his board and his mistress, I stripped off every designer thread he had ever paid for until I was standing in nothing but my own silk camisole. "You can keep the clothes, Adam. They're as hollow as you are." I grabbed my passport, turned my back on his billions, and walked out of that glass tower barefoot, bleeding, and finally free.

I sat on the edge of the examination table, the crinkle of the sanitary paper sounding like thunder in the sterile room. The doctor didn't even look at me as he confirmed the news: the pregnancy was over. My husband, Keyon, didn't answer my call. He just sent an automated text: "In a meeting." When I returned to our cold mansion, I found his iPad glowing with a message from his "muse," Katina. He was throwing her a secret gala tonight-on our third wedding anniversary. He told her he couldn't wait to escape the "boring" and "draining" atmosphere I created at home. Keyon didn't stumble in until 3 AM, smelling of Katina's perfume with a smear of red on his collar. When I handed him the divorce papers, he laughed in my face. He called me a "glorified housekeeper" with no skills and no future, promising I'd be back in three days begging for a subway ticket. He even bet his friends ten thousand dollars that I wouldn't survive a week without his name. He had his assistant cancel my credit cards and block my gate access before I even reached the end of the driveway. He wanted me to starve. He wanted me to crawl. He sat in his office, mocking the "desperate" woman who pawned her three-million-dollar wedding ring for scrap metal just to pay for a meal. I stood on the rainy curb, watching the man I had protected for three years treat my life like trash. He didn't know about the ultrasound I just threw in the bin. He didn't know that while he was calling me "dull," I was the one secretly writing the code that kept his billion-dollar empire from collapsing. As I slid into a cheap Uber, I opened a hidden, encrypted app on my phone. The screen refreshed to a dashboard for an account Keyon didn't know existed. The balance was ten figures long-the accumulated wealth of "Solaris," the world's most elusive tech genius. Keyon thinks he just evicted a parasite, but he's about to find out he just declared war on the only person who can hit "delete" on his entire life.

I stood at my mother’s open grave in the freezing rain, my heels sinking into the mud. The space beside me was empty. My husband, Hilliard Holloway, had promised to cherish me in bad times, but apparently, burying my mother didn't fit into his busy schedule. While the priest’s voice droned on, a news alert lit up my phone. It was a livestream of the Metropolitan Charity Gala. There was Hilliard, looking impeccable in a custom tuxedo, with his ex-girlfriend Charla English draped over his arm. The headline read: "Holloway & English: A Power Couple Reunited?" When he finally returned to our penthouse at 2 AM, he didn't come alone—he brought Charla with him. He claimed she’d had a "medical emergency" at the gala and couldn't be left alone. I found a Tiffany diamond necklace on our coffee table meant for her birthday, and a smudge of her signature red lipstick on his collar. When I confronted him, he simply told me to stop being "hysterical" and "acting like a child." He had no idea I was seven months pregnant with his child. He thought so little of my grief that he didn't even bother to craft a convincing lie, laughing with his mistress in our home while I sat in the dark with a shattered heart and a secret life growing inside me. "He doesn't deserve us," I whispered to the darkness. I didn't scream or beg. I simply left a folder on his desk containing signed divorce papers and a forged medical report for a terminated pregnancy. I disappeared into the night, letting him believe he had successfully killed his own legacy through his neglect. Five years later, Hilliard walked into "The Vault," the city's most exclusive underground auction, looking for a broker to manage his estate. He didn't recognize me behind my Venetian mask, but he couldn't ignore the neon pink graffiti on his armored Maybach that read "DEADBEAT." He had no clue that the three brilliant triplets currently hacking his security system were the very children he thought had been erased years ago. This time, I wasn't just a wife in the way; I was the one holding all the cards.
