Chapter 1 Very thing starts changing

The jarring sound of my alarm clock, bing, bing, echoed through the room, instantly igniting a wave of irritation within me. I despised that noisy intrusion into my peaceful slumber. With a begrudging sigh, I sluggishly pulled myself out of bed and embarked on a hurried morning routine, indulging in a quick bath.

As I descended the stairs, the aroma of breakfast wafted through the air, signaling that my mom was already in the kitchen. Taking my seat at the dining table, I observed her deftly preparing a meal. However, my attention was abruptly diverted by the familiar beep of my phone.

"Hey, Miriam, you're not in school yet. You're going to be late again."

"On my way," I hastily replied before she abruptly ended the call. I sensed her frustration; I must have tested her patience once too often. The truth was, ever since the peculiar recurring dreams began haunting my nights, I found myself consistently running behind schedule.

While contemplating this, an eerie feeling crept over me, as if unseen eyes were watching my every move. I turned around swiftly, scanning the room, but there was no one there. Just as my paranoia peaked, my mom emerged from the kitchen, setting the table for our morning meal.

"Miriam, are you okay?" she inquired, her concern evident in her gaze.

"Yeah, Mom, just tired," I responded with a forced smile, unwilling to burden her with the unsettling thoughts that occupied my mind.

Unconvinced, she took a seat beside me. "Miriam, dear, I know you're not fine. So, what is it? Remember, you can always share with me."

A wave of sadness washed over me, but I hesitated to divulge the haunting dreams and the feeling of being constantly observed. Instead, I maintained my facade of well-being.

"Mom, I'm fine. It's nothing," I assured her, my smile now more genuine.

"Okay, but remember, you can always share," she insisted, her motherly concern unwavering.

In that moment, I appreciated my mom's unwavering support. Though I concealed the turmoil within me, the realization dawned that I couldn't keep my troubles hidden for much longer. With a nod, I focused on devouring my breakfast, eager to distract myself from the unsettling thoughts.

"Finish your meal quickly and grab a cap. I can't drive you to school today; I have a business meeting to attend, and I'm already running late," my mom explained, breaking the brief silence.

As I hurriedly finished my meal, the urgency of the morning became palpable. Despite my mom's responsibilities, her willingness to make me breakfast emphasized the unconditional love and care she showered upon me. With a quick nod, I headed towards the door, hoping the day outside would dissipate the lingering unease that clung to make
