"Save me all your firsts, they're mine to take" I shouldn't be in love with my Bestfriend, I shouldn't attach value to whatever he says at least but it was difficult. He left when he was thirteen without a word to me. I tried contacting him but couldn't reach him, I asked his mum about him - she said he'd gone to be with his dad. He returned five years later, different from the boy I knew.. He came for revenge but what I did, I never knew. He hated me, all of a sudden. My Bestfriend became my bully....

Ex Bestfriend Chapter 1 CHARLOTTE

"Have you seen the new forum?" Anna gushed clapping her hands together excited. I sucked in a deep breath. I couldn't help but think about how my senior year would look like. I have a strange twang in my guts that I wouldn't be as invisible as I was. It was a feeling. My whole life in Summerfield, I'd managed to be the girl no one looks at twice - that's so great.

I never wanted to be the center of attention in a school like Summerfield, it was more like a dream come true. Though my freakish glasses and skirts weren't helping matters. Imagine how I feel knowing this year was gonna change my life -hope it's for the better though.

A snap of the finger dragged me out of my thoughts, I blinked. Anna had a frown on her face - yeah, she was talking about something.

I stared down at the book in front of me and then back to Anna who tilted her head.

"Fine, I heard nothing -What were you saying?" I asked and her lips curved downwards. She does that whenever she's pissed. I just managed to make the only friend I had pissed off. How good is that on a scale of one to ten?

"Reggie is joining us for Senior year" she said simply but a thousand bells went off in my head.

Reggie!

Reg -fucking - gie!

"What?!" the shriek left my lips before I could shut it in. It didn't sound like my voice at all. It sounded like a wounded animal waiting for rescue - thanks for that imagery, mind.

Anna had a satisfied grin on her lips, I sat upright pinning her with my eyes.

"You were kidding right?" I asked, she dipped her hand into the candy jar throwing a candy into her mouth and crushing noisily.

"Unfortunately, no Charlie. It's on the forum and the students are excited Reggie would be coming back" she paused, staring back at me with accusation in her eyes "- don't tell me you haven't gone online" she asked and I rolled my eyes.

"If I had gone online, I wouldn't be this 'surprised' " I said right before burying my face into my hands.

Not Reggie.. Why my heart was drumming so fast I felt like dipping my hands inside my chest and pull it out. Five years. How is one supposed to feel on hearing that your best friend crush who didn't contact you for five years is back? Rage right? Why do i feel different?

"- Uh-huh, you're thinking again. You still love him right?" Anna asked and i shook my head. I couldn't give an answer to that question now. I'd gotten something to bug herself with till Monday when school resumes.

Aargh... I had the feeling.

I peered up at Anna from my glasses, she was munching another candy while she gathered her books. Study period over, I guess.

"Got a date to catch up" she gave a candy filled toothy grin and a pang of loneliness shot through my body.

I managed a smile at Anna.

"Yeah, don't keep Liam waiting" I added and she stared at me with bored eyes.

"Not Liam, Aiden" she said and I nodded. She'd broken up with Liam, a week ago. Guess, that escaped my mind too.

Several seconds after Anna was gone, I still sat in the position I'd been.

Anna was pretty, like very pretty. With brown eyes and that contrasted with her blonde hair. She was the kind of change, guys went for. Let's not talk about her long legs and breasts, she was beautiful but me?

I shook my head and stood up, gathering my books in my hands and taking them to the shelf. I refuse to engage in any self depressing and self deprecating talk.

I'm beautiful, I'm perfect, I'm what the world needs, I..

I closed my eyes, I don't feel like any of it right now. I feel like the hairless cat that everyone looks with pity and disgust.

I walked out of my room shutting the door behind me, I raked a finger through my hair, trying to tame my wild black curls. Mum doesn't like it when I look unkept, in fact, she doesn't like me.

I felt that loneliness seep into my bones, I took a deep breath.

No self deprecating and depressing thoughts, Charlie.

The house was awfully quiet and it meant one thing, Jessica wasn't home. Jessica was my - Uh, junior sister. Well, we don't look alike. Jessica took after my mum, in terms of beauty and all.. And me, I'm just me.. The different child.

Mum wasn't home either.. Everyone goes out without telling me anything. I checked the fridge, I could probably get something to eat. Yeah, like peanut butter and bread classify as food but nonetheless, I took it and returned to my room. Settling on the bed, I brought out my laptop, logged in on facebook. I typed in 'Reggie Whitlock', I took a huge bite of my bread mixed with peanut butter.

Let's see how far you'd grown Reg..

I stood in the darkest corner of the Pierre Hotel’s ballroom, my cheap polyester dress itching against my skin while my wristband buzzed with a DARPA Priority Red alert. In front of the city’s elite, my fiancé Bryce Calloway took the stage, not to toast our future, but to publicly end our engagement and announce he was with my sister, Chloe. The room turned on me instantly, a hundred pairs of eyes pinning me down with pity and disgust as they physically backed away like I was contagious. When I returned home, my mother shattered a crystal vase at my feet, screaming that I was a humiliation and a "dropout" who didn't deserve a cent of the family fortune. Chloe and Bryce mocked me, laughing when I told them I had a mission with the National Security Agency, convinced I was either a pathological liar or a low-level criminal. They watched in horror as a black, unmarked military helicopter descended on our backyard to extract me, yet they still chose to believe I was being arrested for drug trafficking. They saw a pathetic girl who couldn't even parallel park, never realizing I was Dr. Nova Vance, the lead physicist behind the world's first successful fusion reactor. To secure funding for my research and gain a "fortress" of a name, I signed a thirty-day marriage contract with the arrogant billionaire Roman Knight. He treats me like a fraud, convinced I’m a gold-digger who failed out of college, while I quietly run global energy simulations from his guest bedroom. He has no idea that the "loser" he’s forced to live with is the same anonymous grandmaster who has been ruthlessly crushing him in online strategy games for months. "The contract is active," I told him, looking past his expensive suit. "But don't expect me to be your maid."

For seven years, I drank the bitter tonic my fiancé, Alpha Adrian, gave me, believing it would cure my "wolfless" defect. I was wrong. It was poison. He wasn't trying to heal me; he was keeping me weak so he could replace me with my foster sister, Ariel. When the fire consumed the Alpha's Wing, I was trapped under a burning beam, my legs crushed. Adrian kicked down the door. I reached out to him, screaming for help. But he didn't look at me. He looked at Ariel, who was lying on the floor in a silk nightgown. He scooped her up, cradling her like she was the only thing that mattered. I begged him not to leave me. Instead of helping, he used his Alpha Command on me, his voice booming with supernatural weight. "Stay put! I'll be back for you!" It was a lie. He used his power to freeze me in the inferno and left me to burn alive. I survived, only to watch him publicly reject me for her the next day, with my own father's blessing. They called me a "genetic dead end." They thought I would crawl away and die in shame. I didn't. I limped up the mountain to the Neutral Lands to find the one man everyone fears-the exiled Alpha, Garth Morgan. "I have the Gamma Bloodline Scroll," I told the massive figure emerging from the shadows. "I don't want your gratitude," Garth growled, his eyes like storm clouds. "I'm not here for gratitude," I replied, staring him down. "I'm here to make a deal with the devil."
