Let Me Go, Mr Zillionaire Chapter 1 A picture from the past

DIANA'S POV

I let my tears flow without bothering to wipe my face as I sat in the car. My family sold me off to a man that I haven't met before, and I have heard many dreadful things about.

How could they do that to me? Why would my parents watch my grandparents sell out their only child just to save their company? Was it my fault that the company was going bankrupt? So they mean that the company is worth more than me? Their only child!

"I fucking hate my life right now!" I deliberately kicked the driver's side of the car from the back even though I knew it wouldn't affect the driver since a barrier separated the backseat from the driver's side.

There were two men in the car. The driver and a guard, all dressed in black like the devil they are. They were so mean to me when they came to take me. I wasn't going to just enter a car and let an unknown driver take me to an unknown place, probably the devil's castle, but they forcibly took me.

My dreams have been cut short by my parents who were supposed to stand up for me and support me as other parents do. I was going to grad school, move to New York and become an actress, and my parents were very much aware that I had plans regarding my education and life afterwards.

Now they let money and reputation rule over everything else, even the life of their only child. In the end, money comes first for them even to the extent of ruining my life.

I would be the property of a billionaire that people give bad reviews about. I am doomed.

I was awed when the car drove into the estate's gates. Many armed guards stood lined up at each side of the drive path. There were about nine beautiful buildings on the estate, but the outstanding one was the mansion which is probably the main house.

I presumed that was where the boss himself lives while his domestic workers and other people live in the others. I don't even know the name of the man who owns all these things and who has bought me without my consent.

Does he know me? Would he be as dreadful as people claim he is? If all that I have heard about him was true, can I stand him? Why exactly did he buy me?

My parents indeed put me out for sale and there had been other wealthy families who had wanted to have me, but he came out of the blue to purchase me with a deal that my parents couldn't resist and had to let others down. He used one of his men, who told me afterwards that he bought me for his boss.

So I am curious to know why he would give up a huge sum of money and bring great deals to claim me as his possession.

I was still infuriated, but the mansion caught my attention because I didn't know what lay in there for me. Would the man that lives in there be as beautiful as the mansion or is he a devil with horns?

I hesitated before coming down from the car when a guard opened the door for me. He stepped aside and closed it when I moved to stand beside the driver who had come down from the car as well.

I was lost in thought that I didn't know when a woman came forward until she tapped my chin and I was forced to meet her eyes.

"You are as beautiful as I heard. Your big blue eyes are real and your shiny, dark long hair meets the description. I am happy to meet you, Diana. I am your assistant and you can call me Jessica." The woman said with a smile.

"Oh, well... nice to know," I mumbled as I took her profile in, she's pretty.

"You do not need those bags anymore, Miss. Everything you would need is already in your room, so I am sorry to say that your belongings would be disposed of," Jessica snapped her fingers to the servants who brought my bags out of the car. That was a way of signaling them to take the bags away and not inside the house.

"I would need my things in there. I have some precious things that..." I tried to protest but she shushed me with a wave of her hand.

"Don't worry, if there is anything you don't find in your room, then let me know and I will take care of it. This way, please," she stepped back and waved towards the door.

"This is unbelievable," I muttered as I clutched my phone and walked past her. I hope they don't take my phone away as well.

I was drawn to tears but I couldn't even release it because nobody would care or understand me. I just have to accept my fate and be prepared for thorns to be fixed under my feet. Life isn't as easy as I was raised to believe.

When she led me into the house, I expected to see the man that I would live the rest of my life with, not as a wedded wife, but as a claimed price since it didn't even seem like anything for him to give out that amount of money to have me.

Could it be that he is a disabled person? Or maybe an old man who wants a trophy wife to show off and boast about? My imagination ran wild as I followed Jessica, hoping that I would see at least a picture of the man.

I saw none and met no one else apart from uniformed servants who went about doing their jobs as if no one had intruded on their boss's home.

She led me through the foyer, I was knocked off by the grand spaces and the interior design. Everything's sparkling clean as if they had never been touched, even the stairs looked like no one had ever walked up them before.

The round couches and center table were huge. One of the couches could make up my bed at home. Just when I had thought my parents were wealthy enough and had the most beautiful house and largest properties, now here I am looking at times ten what my family owns and it doesn't even seem like I have seen half of it.

Jessica led me on through the stairs to my room. Showing me to my room, she opened the door for me and watched me go in first before she entered.

"Mr. Rodriguez will meet you tonight and he instructed that you would be properly prepared in readiness for him." She said matter-of-factly as she watched me inspect the room.

I can't believe that one room would be so spacious. Even though the big bed in the room wouldn't make room for any other thing if it were to be taken to my parent's bedroom at home, the space and neatness of the whole place stunned me.

Now what did she say again? Oh, so now I get to know the name of the man that I am going to be with and in this manner. And what was it she said about getting me ready for him?

"What do you mean preparing me for him?" I asked curiously, searching her blank face for an explanation.

She clapped her hands twice and the door opened immediately. I looked up to see three of the uniformed servants as they marched into the room. I slant Jessica a questioning look.

"They would get you ready for him. You will get lunch and dinner in your room. You're not allowed to leave your room until he meets you." Jessica said whimsically.

"I still need to process all of this and get used to all of it. How am I supposed to just..."

"Ladies, get to work. I guess Miss Diana understands. Excuse me," Jessica cut me off and walked out of the room, making sure to lock it securely behind her.

"Hey, you can't do this to me! Who the fuck is he? Who are you to give me instructions like my opinion doesn't matter?" I shouted as I broke down again.

That didn't stop the ladies from taking me to the bathroom. It was the first time someone had seen my nudity. I haven't even had to change in front of my best friend or my parents.

I get uncomfortable no matter who it is, but I was undressed, bathed, and dressed up again by three damn girls who stayed mute all through. They washed me thoroughly, touching every part of me and shaving off the little hairs sprinkling from my private parts.

They had watched me cry to my heart's full before they went ahead to do their job. They left afterwards and a male servant brought in lunch when the time was due.

I didn't know what else to do while I waited for the great moment that I would meet the man for the first time. I spent time wondering who and what he was like. I forgot about my phone and I could only remember when suddenly my mind went to my best friend, Gina.

I picked up my phone and dialed her number, but a voice note replied to say she wasn't available at the moment. Then I realized she would probably be with her new boyfriend.

We had weirdly interesting dreams, and part of that dream was to date as many boys as we could in grad school before we finally settled for Mr. Right. Now she's the only one living that dream while I am stuck in a room for life.

I hissed and threw my phone aside. I felt bored, especially since I couldn't even get my belongings. I could have read a book or something, but no, I just have to maybe check some e-books on my phone.

I didn't know how much time passed as I tried to take my mind off what would come that night by reading e-books until I heard a tap on my door. I hesitantly stood up from the bed to open the door, expecting to see one of the servants or Jessica with dinner as she had said.

I opened the door to stare open-mouthed into golden eyes. I was more shocked when familiarity hit me.

"You?" I stuttered.

Today is October 14th, my birthday. I returned to New York after months away, dragging my suitcase through the biting wind, but the VIP pickup zone where my husband’s Maybach usually idled was empty. When I finally let myself into our Upper East Side penthouse, I didn’t find a cake or a "welcome home" banner. Instead, I found my husband, Caden, kneeling on the floor, helping our five-year-old daughter wrap a massive gift for my half-sister, Adalynn. Caden didn’t even look up when I walked in; he was too busy laughing with the girl who had already stolen my father’s legacy and was now moving in on my family. "Auntie Addie is a million times better than Mommy," my daughter Elara chirped, clutching a plush toy Caden had once forbidden me from buying for her. "Mommy is mean," she whispered loudly, while Caden just smirked, calling me a "drill sergeant" before whisking her off to Adalynn’s party without a second glance. Later that night, I saw a video Adalynn posted online where my husband and child laughed while mocking my "sensitive" nature, treating me like an inconvenient ghost in my own home. I had spent five years researching nutrition for Elara’s health and managing every detail of Caden’s empire, only to be discarded the moment I wasn't in the room. How could the man who set his safe combination to my birthday completely forget I even existed? The realization didn't break me; it turned me into ice. I didn't scream or beg for an explanation. I simply walked into the study, pulled out the divorce papers I’d drafted months ago, and took a black marker to the terms. I crossed out the alimony, the mansion, and even the custody clause—if they wanted a life without me, I would give them exactly what they asked for. I left my four-carat diamond ring on the console table and walked out into the rain with nothing but a heavily encrypted hard drive. The submissive Mrs. Holloway was gone, and "Ghost," the most lethal architect in the tech world, was finally back online to take back everything they thought I’d forgotten.

I sat on the edge of the examination table, the crinkle of the sanitary paper sounding like thunder in the sterile room. The doctor didn't even look at me as he confirmed the news: the pregnancy was over. My husband, Keyon, didn't answer my call. He just sent an automated text: "In a meeting." When I returned to our cold mansion, I found his iPad glowing with a message from his "muse," Katina. He was throwing her a secret gala tonight-on our third wedding anniversary. He told her he couldn't wait to escape the "boring" and "draining" atmosphere I created at home. Keyon didn't stumble in until 3 AM, smelling of Katina's perfume with a smear of red on his collar. When I handed him the divorce papers, he laughed in my face. He called me a "glorified housekeeper" with no skills and no future, promising I'd be back in three days begging for a subway ticket. He even bet his friends ten thousand dollars that I wouldn't survive a week without his name. He had his assistant cancel my credit cards and block my gate access before I even reached the end of the driveway. He wanted me to starve. He wanted me to crawl. He sat in his office, mocking the "desperate" woman who pawned her three-million-dollar wedding ring for scrap metal just to pay for a meal. I stood on the rainy curb, watching the man I had protected for three years treat my life like trash. He didn't know about the ultrasound I just threw in the bin. He didn't know that while he was calling me "dull," I was the one secretly writing the code that kept his billion-dollar empire from collapsing. As I slid into a cheap Uber, I opened a hidden, encrypted app on my phone. The screen refreshed to a dashboard for an account Keyon didn't know existed. The balance was ten figures long-the accumulated wealth of "Solaris," the world's most elusive tech genius. Keyon thinks he just evicted a parasite, but he's about to find out he just declared war on the only person who can hit "delete" on his entire life.
