Chapter 1 Magic Closet
"It hurts, Mom!" Shouted a 22-year-old girl who was currently being beaten by her stepmother.
Since the death of her biological mother, her father had married a woman not too far away from her. Only 8 years apart in age. For some reason, when her father went out of town to work, her mother turned into a very mean stepmother. It was different when his father was at home. She was like an angel who was always kind to her!
Like this time, Clara Beatrice was severely beaten just for breaking a plate while washing dishes.
Her body was helpless, as her stepmother beat her with a rattan. It was so painful!
"Tonight, you can't eat!" Even worse, she was locked up in a room that even her deceased mother forbade anyone to enter. For whatever reason.
And now, her stepmother locked her up in that room.
While crying and enduring the pain in her body, Clara could only curl up on the floor.
Today, it's snowing. Imagine how cold it is today!
Unable to bear the cold, her eyes glanced at the closet, the only thing in the room.
Clara smiled bitterly. At least, she still had hope to warm up her body. She hoped there were warm clothes in the closet.
Even though her legs were difficult to move, because they hurt too much, Clara still tried. She walked to the closet and opened it.
As it turned out, the closet was very wide. "Or should I just sleep in the closet?"
Maybe it was one of God's instructions. She did what her heart told her to do. She smiled again and again when she saw the warm clothes hanging in the closet. She put them on immediately. And walked little by little into the closet.
Until unknowingly, something made her fall.
"Aaa!"
Do you know what surprised her? Like a dream, Clara was suddenly in the wild, where it was snowing.
Lots of trees were covered in snow. That made her even more confused!
"Oh my gosh, where am I?" Out of curiosity, Clara stood up. She began to look around in various directions.
The scenery was so beautiful, even more beautiful than where she lived! Clara was willing to bet!
"God, if this is just a dream, please don't wake me up too soon from this dream," she said, hoping God would listen to what she had to say.
Feeling intrigued by the place, Clara's feet started walking eastward without her realizing it. Because in her mind, she was in a dream.
There was no way she would get lost. After all, soon she would wake up from her sleep!
"Who are you?"
The voice from behind made Clara startled. She immediately turned her body 180 degrees out of curiosity.
The person who spoke earlier turned out to be a girl who was probably not too far from her age. The girl had a tall posture, exceeding Clara's height. Her face was very cute!
"Hm ... I'm Clara. Are you the friend in my dream that God sent to interact with me?" Clara guessed. She still thought she was dreaming.
"Hold on ... A dream? What dream?" The girl asked back.
"Aren't we dreaming?" Clara asked again.
Both their faces showed confusion.
"I'm not dreaming. I mean, I'm real."
"Real?" Clara was quite surprised to hear that. She shook her head.
No, this can't be real! Clara asked again.
"So, where is this place?"
"We are in the middle of the forest. Which direction did you enter the forest from?"
"The forest?" What the hell, this was getting absurd!
Clara had told the girl to come with her, to show her the way when she first came to this place!
"From here," she pointed, pointing towards a closet filled with plants.
"Don't tell me, you came from the magic closet?"
"Magic closet?"
Just as Clara was about to ask, there was a sudden sound of a woodpecker beckoning the girl.
"My name is Jasmine. Now, you must return to the closet immediately, before Alpha finds out where you are!" Jasmine's face suddenly turned into panic as she heard the woodpecker's voice!
"Hurry up, Clara! If you want to survive, you can't come back here!"
Clara got carried away. She nodded her head and ran back towards the closet. Before she got into the closet, she said something to Jasmine.
"Can you be my friend?"
"I want to. But, maybe I can't. Because the Alpha won't allow it," Jasmine replied, with a disappointed face, "quick, Clara, come in. I don't want your whereabouts to be known by Alpha." Jasmine told her again.
"Alright." Clara nodded her head and she began to step into the closet again.
The atmosphere was back to the way it was before. There was no more beautiful scenery.
It felt empty again. Clara let out a long breath. Was what she had just seen real?
Then, there was the sound of a door from outside. Clara immediately opened the closet door.
She saw her stepmother who was looking at her with a face full of hatred! She doesn't even know why she hated her so much!
"Tonight, your father will suddenly come home! Take a quick shower and change into something nice!" said the stepmother in a loud voice.
"Alright, Mom," replied Clara, who could only obey. She didn't want to feel the pain of being constantly beaten with the rattan.
"And remember, you must never complain about anything to your father. If you do, you will suffer the consequences!" she warned again.
Honestly, Clara felt hurt, it would be a lie if Clara wasn't hurt by being treated like an animal by her stepmother!
She walked to her room and cried in her room. Lamenting the bitter fate she had to live with.
Night fell, but there was no sign of her father. Clara and her stepmother, who was already seated in the dining room for dinner with her father, were anxious as to why he had not arrived.
Then, a few minutes later, the doorbell rang outside. Her stepmother, thinking it was her husband, immediately walked excitedly to the door.
Clara followed her stepmother's lead.
When the door was opened by her stepmother, it turned out that what was seen in front of her was not her husband. Instead, it was a friend of her father whom Clara knew very well.
"Good evening Mrs. Steven, I have an assignment from the office, if I have to deliver news about Mr. Steven. Mr. Steven was in a car accident and is now in the operating room because his condition is very critical."
Like a thunderbolt in the daytime, how shocked Clara was to hear that news!
It was like deja vu. When her mother died in a car accident.
Would her father's fate end the same way as her mother's?
