"Psalm is a good friend. He is nice to me, he didn't do anything to me." Finally. I didn't stutter. I saw how his eyebrows shot up. "Oh, really? Humans are never nice to anyone Klea. You know that, they just come and go. Meet you and hurt you. Just like what your mother did." He said sternly.

He's My Protection Chapter 1 1

Chapter 1

I heard a series of knocks coming from outside my room so I immediately adjusted my uniform and looked in the mirror before opening it.

And my suspicion is correct, it's Saint. I looked at him with my bored eyes.

"Listen Klea, you won't use your name the whole school year if you still want to be alive. Don't call me Saint, Angelous or even my surname in public. Do you understand?" He said with authority. I am really afraid of him. Even when we were young he was never kind to me.

I know I'm just a hindrance to his life but he can't do anything because his Daddy ordered me to be with him.

"This will be you new name. New identity to be exact." He said again and gave me an ID. I accepted that.

Danica Sy? That's a nice name. "Don't you ever talk to anyone about our relationship, just say we are childhood friends. Got that?"

I nodded. "Don't make friends. Tell me who's introducing you. I'm not being hilarious to you or what I'm just protecting you got that?"

I had nothing more to say to him so I just nodded. "Use a mask when you go outside."

That was his last reminder before he left in front of me. Today is my first day in school. All my life I've been homeschooled for safety purposes.

Many people hunt me down because I committed murder of my own father, i just killed the most high person in the underworld organization and they are hunting me to shut me down. And to make me the heiress of that organization.

But Grandfather Santino won't agree to that, Saint's father. Grandfather Santi is my Dad's friend. And Dad told Grandfather Santi that he would never hand me over to the mafia bosses. And he agreed even though he was one of them.

Grandfather Santi guaranteed everything's going to be alright. That I'll have a normal life just what my Daddy wanted.

"Klea! We're getting late. Hurry up!"

I grabbed my things and immediately followed Saint who was waiting for me and leaning on his car.

He's not going to use his Porsche? And he's going to settle at a low quality car? An Chevrolet.

"Just to keep you safe we need to lay down at school. We can't be a show off to everybody. Everyone will suspect." I nodded and entered the shotgun seat.

He started the engine and maneuvered to the school.

While in the car I can't help but think that maybe it's not bad if I have a friend right? Saint will have friends too right? He's a catch.

He's handsome. Clever. Talented. I think he can do it all and it is unlikely that he will have many friends here.

"If you're thinking about having friends. No." I immediately looked at Saint because he suddenly spoke.

He adjusted the eyepatch he was wearing and looked at me with his brown eyes.

"Don't call me by my name. I have new identity too, I'm Rozen Alcantara from now on. Do you get it?" He asked and I nodded.

I got out of his car first and I also went inside the school first. Many are staring at me now, because I am a new student.

'I heard he came from a chinese family...'

'Her white...'

'Bro that's nice!'

I heard whispers from people around me. But it also stopped immediately for reasons I don't know.

I looked at the gate and I could clearly see that Saint was simply walking and looking at me as well. He told me to walk so I did it right away.

A few hours passed and I was so thankful that no one tried to come and talk to me.

It's lunch time and I don't know where I'm going. So after I bought food I just went straight to the classroom and ate there.

But I was shocked when suddenly someone entered our classroom and I looked at him. It's my seatmate, he's sitting behind me.

What's its name again? Ah! Psalm right.

"Hi Danica, why are you eating alone?" He suddenly asked me and smiled as he walked closer to me.

What Saint said suddenly came to my mind. 'No making friends.' But he's not here, is he? Maybe it's okay

"Ah, I don't know anyone here..." I replied shyly, this was the first time I talked to someone outside Saint's mansion.

"Well, I'm Psalm Axel Sudalga. And you're Danica Sy, now you know someone." he said smiling.

This guy has a bright aura, i can tell. He's curly hair and bright round eyes tells that he's a bright and jolly person. I love meeting this kind of people.

All my life I've been surrounded by negativity.

"Ah, thanks for talking to me. I appreciate it." I said while smiling.

He nodded at me and smiled again. He's cute.

I was surprised when he suddenly took a handkerchief from his pocket and wiped the edge of my lip.

"I'm sorry, there's ketchup."he said smiling.

I just shook my head and resumed eating.

Atleast I made a friend today.

When we got home Saint was speechless. He just went straight into his mansion. But he also stopped immediately as if he saw something he did not expect.

"Sis?" I immediately smiled. Sister Mary is back! I missed her so much.

I immediately ran into the house and saw her smiling and waiting for me. I immediately greeted her with a hug.

"How are you doing? Sab?" Sister Mary asked me with a smile.

I noticed Saint going up to his room so I smiled.

"I made a friend today!" I exclaimed silently because Saint might hear.

"Really? Is it a she or he?" She smiled at the question as she combed my long hair.

"A he. Sis Mary, actually he's cute and I like him as a friend because his aura is bright!" I said smiling. I told sister Mary how he introduced herself to me earlier.

And he smiled at me. "My baby girl has a crush." She was teasing me.

"No Sister Mary, I just like him as a friend. He's a good friend because." I said smiling.

"Really? Why are your eyes blinking while you're talking?" I immediately covered my eyes and Sister Mary just laughed at me

"It's normal, Sat. You're twenty. It's normal for you to like someone." I nodded that Sister Mary was right.

Of the two of them, Saint, I really prefer Sister Mary because she's smart. While Saint is always rude to me. As-in, always.

"But Saint might get angry if he finds out so I should probably end it." I said sadly.

"Why would he be?" Sister Mary asked confused.

"Because he said I shouldn't talk to anyone. And I shouldn't make friends unless he agreed." I said and scratched my nape.

"Oh c'mon. You two are already in college. Just don't mind him okay? He's just being a lunatic and over protective. That's like his brother too." I just nodded. Right. Saint is just protecting me

"Besides, he won't know if no one says, right?" Sister Mary asked and winked at me. I smiled at her widely.

"Thank you, sister Mary!" I said and hugged her.

Sister Mary brought me a cellphone from the U.S. It's my first one, because Saint never gave me one because people who want to take me might trace me.

But now I have it! I am so happy. Sister Mary helped me create an instafaca account, it's a social media. And because I can't use my real name. I used danica.sy as my username.

Sister Mary even helped me to take a photo and made me beautiful. Some of my classmates follow me, most of them are my school mates

Even Psalm followed me. I smiled and I followed him back. And after that he directly message me immediately.

psalm.axe: Wow. Is there social media now? You said earlier that your parente are strict?

I smiled I replied.

danica.sy: they realized that they were too strict so they gave in to me.

And he replied immediately.

psalm.axe: Nice to know! Have to go nice talking to you for a short time. G'night

My face burned when I saw the heart emoticon at the end of his message. I immediately typed back.

danica.sy: goodnight:)

I would have had a full day when suddenly a notification appeared on my phone.

r.ozen just followed you.

the f*ck?!

I stood at my mother’s open grave in the freezing rain, my heels sinking into the mud. The space beside me was empty. My husband, Hilliard Holloway, had promised to cherish me in bad times, but apparently, burying my mother didn't fit into his busy schedule. While the priest’s voice droned on, a news alert lit up my phone. It was a livestream of the Metropolitan Charity Gala. There was Hilliard, looking impeccable in a custom tuxedo, with his ex-girlfriend Charla English draped over his arm. The headline read: "Holloway & English: A Power Couple Reunited?" When he finally returned to our penthouse at 2 AM, he didn't come alone—he brought Charla with him. He claimed she’d had a "medical emergency" at the gala and couldn't be left alone. I found a Tiffany diamond necklace on our coffee table meant for her birthday, and a smudge of her signature red lipstick on his collar. When I confronted him, he simply told me to stop being "hysterical" and "acting like a child." He had no idea I was seven months pregnant with his child. He thought so little of my grief that he didn't even bother to craft a convincing lie, laughing with his mistress in our home while I sat in the dark with a shattered heart and a secret life growing inside me. "He doesn't deserve us," I whispered to the darkness. I didn't scream or beg. I simply left a folder on his desk containing signed divorce papers and a forged medical report for a terminated pregnancy. I disappeared into the night, letting him believe he had successfully killed his own legacy through his neglect. Five years later, Hilliard walked into "The Vault," the city's most exclusive underground auction, looking for a broker to manage his estate. He didn't recognize me behind my Venetian mask, but he couldn't ignore the neon pink graffiti on his armored Maybach that read "DEADBEAT." He had no clue that the three brilliant triplets currently hacking his security system were the very children he thought had been erased years ago. This time, I wasn't just a wife in the way; I was the one holding all the cards.

The rain in Detroit was slick with grime when my family finally came to fetch me. They didn't want a reunion; they wanted a sacrificial lamb to marry into the Kaufman empire to save their failing business. I thought I was just being sold off, but the limo ride ended under a dark overpass where six hired thugs were waiting with chains. My own sister had ordered them to "break my spirit" so I’d be a shaking, pathetic mess by the time I reached the altar. They called me "Detroit trash" and sprayed air freshener when I sat on their leather seats. My stepmother wanted a video of me begging for my life, and my father was ready to trade me like a used car to a man everyone called a "vegetable." They expected a submissive country girl, unaware that I was a high-level "cleaner" who could snap a radius bone before they could even scream. When I finally reached the Kaufman estate, I found my fiancé, Barron, slumped in a wheelchair, drooling and silent. But as soon as the doors closed, the "invalid" grabbed my wrist with a grip of iron and whispered a command that changed everything. I didn't understand why my own blood was so desperate to see me destroyed. What had I ever done to deserve a hit squad and a forced marriage to a man they thought was a corpse? But Barron isn't a vegetable, and I'm not a victim. We just touched down at the Moon family gala in a matte-black helicopter, and as the doors slide open, the "broken" bride is about to show them exactly what happens when you throw away the wrong daughter. "If we're going to crash a party," Barron whispered, his eyes burning with lethal clarity, "we should make an entrance."

The heavy iron gates of the Wilderness Correction Camp groaned as they released me after three years of state-sponsored hell. I stood on the dirt road, clutching a plastic bag that held my entire life, waiting for the family that claimed they sent me there for "rehab." My brother, Brady, picked me up in a luxury SUV only to throw me out onto a deserted highway in the middle of a brewing storm. He told me I was a "public relations nightmare" and that the rain might finally wash the "stink" of the camp off me. He drove away, leaving me to limp miles through the mud on a snapped ankle. When I finally dragged myself to our family estate, my mother didn't offer a hug; she gasped in horror because my muddy clothes were ruining her Italian marble. They didn't give me my old room back. Instead, they banished me to a moldy gardener’s shack and hired a "babysitter" to make sure I didn't embarrass them further. My sister, Kaleigh, stood there in white cashmere, pretending to cry while clinging to her fiancé, Ambrose—the man who had once been mine. They all treated me like a volatile junkie, refusing to acknowledge that Kaleigh was the one who planted the drugs in my bag three years ago. They wanted to believe I was broken so they wouldn't have to feel guilty about the "wellness retreat" that was actually a torture chamber. I sat in the dark of that shed, feeling the cooling gel on the cigarette burns that covered my arms, and realized they had made a fatal mistake. They thought they had erased me, but I had returned with a roadmap of scars and a hidden satellite phone. At dinner, I didn't beg for their love. I simply rolled up my sleeves and showed them the price of their silence. As the wine spilled and the lies crumbled, I sent a single text to the only person I trusted: "I'm in. Let them simmer." The hunt was finally on.
