His stare gave her the creeps and she ended up fleeing away from him. The situation soon spiraled out of their control. Two months later, the family doctor became Weldon's new wife. Everyone around wanted to know how she managed to make him move on from grief and also marry her. "Well, it's simple. I promised to give him two more kids as long as he put a ring on my finger." The new bride showed up with two kids who were carbon copies of Weldon. It caused a buzz in town and also generated more questions. Who was this woman? And how did she end up with his children?

Spoiled Ex-Wife: Daddy, Mommy Ran Away Again Chapter 1 Great Love

"Weldon is returning home?"

Everleigh Lewis was pregnant for over eight months. She was in the children's room, neatly folding the new clothes she had recently purchased, when she heard the servants talking about Weldon Harris.

Her eyes widened in surprise.

She wondered if he was returning home because of her pregnancy.

Her insides bubbled with happiness, and her hands trembled. She was ecstatic.

Weldon was the father of her babies.

However, she had only met him once since they got married. He left that night and never returned. Everleigh never saw him again.

"Babies, I know your daddy doesn't like me, but it doesn't matter. All that matters is for him to see you step into this world. I'll be the happiest woman in the world."

Tears trickled down her cheeks as she touched her bulging stomach. Her beautiful face beamed with joy.

Two days later, as expected, the eldest son of the Harris family, who had disappeared after his marriage, finally returned.

Everleigh clutched her belly and ran downstairs when she heard the voices.

However, the blood on her face drained when she reached the stairway. Her gaze fell on the woman, standing beside the man she longed to meet.

"What's this, Weldon? I asked you to accompany your wife during the delivery. Why have you brought this woman with you?"

"Don't you know what it means? I've clearly told you this marriage has nothing to do with me and that I'm going to marry Raelynn Griffiths. She is standing right by my side."

Weldon was wearing a thin black windbreaker. His chiseled, handsome face looked cold as his deep eyes stared at his father. He looked like he was covered in a layer of ice.

Weldon's father, Trevor Harris, grew furious when he heard that.

"You bastard! Don't you know Everleigh is getting close to labor? How could you make such an insensitive remark?"

"So what? I'm merely stating the truth. If you hadn't drugged me on the night of my wedding, she wouldn't have gotten pregnant in the first place. Her babies don't deserve to step into this world!"

The room fell silent in an instant.

But his words continued to echo in Everleigh's ears.

She felt a sharp pain in her chest as if someone had stabbed her heart. Her vision grew blurry as she heard the muffled argument downstairs.

However, none of it mattered. She couldn't think of anything else but Weldon saying her children didn't deserve to step into this world.

The words shattered her heart.

"Ah! Mrs. Harris! Look at her! She is bleeding!"

"What?"

Everyone in the Harris family turned to look at her.

The father and son ceased arguing and looked at her in horror.

They saw Everleigh standing at the stairway, blood streaming down her legs.

Her dress had turned red. She had lost a lot of blood.

Weldon's face tightened.

"Weldon, your love is great. I see you find happiness by trampling on your own children. Do you think you can live with that?" Everleigh said, staring into Weldon's eyes as she tumbled down the stairs.

Those were the first words she uttered before him since she married him.

Weldon was taken aback.

Before he could speak, Everleigh fell to the floor with a loud thud.

"Take her to the hospital! Hurry up!" Trevor shouted his order.

Soon, Everleigh was admitted to the hospital.

"Weldon, don't beat yourself up about it. It's not your fault. How could your family get you married to a random woman without your approval? And how dare that woman curse you? Weldon..."

Raelynn Griffiths tried comforting Weldon.

However, before she could finish speaking, the man who had never lost his cool before her glared at her.

"That's enough! Shut up! It's none of your business!" Weldon bellowed, anger blazing in his eyes.

Raelynn shuddered and dared not utter another word. She gritted her teeth and cursed Everleigh in her heart.

Raelynn wished for Everleigh to die along with her babies. That would be the best for her.

An hour passed after Everleigh was sent to the hospital.

The obstetrician walked out of the operating room with a baby in his arms. Seeing Trevor and the others looking at him with expectant eyes, he took a deep breath and said, "I'm sorry, Mr. Harris. We couldn't save the mother. She had a hemorrhage during the delivery, but we managed to save one of the triplets."

Trevor was stunned. He couldn't believe Everleigh was no more.

Of his three grandkids and daughter-in-law, only one baby survived. He couldn't take it anymore.

Trevor clutched his chest and fell backward.

"Mr. Harris! Mr. Harris!"

By the time Weldon heard the news, he had already left the house with Raelynn. He was heading to his private apartment downtown.

His hands on the steering wheel froze when he received the news from his assistant.

"What? She is dead?"

"Yeah, she was in poor health. The doctor couldn't save her after the hemorrhage. But one of the triplets is alive. It's a boy, and your father has taken him home."

The assistant gave a detailed description of the event in the hospital. Fearing Weldon wouldn't believe him, he took a picture of Everleigh and the other two babies' corpses covered in a white cloth.

Weldon's pupils shrank when he saw that.

The next moment, he slammed the brakes. The car screeched to a halt in the middle of the road.

Today is October 14th, my birthday. I returned to New York after months away, dragging my suitcase through the biting wind, but the VIP pickup zone where my husband’s Maybach usually idled was empty. When I finally let myself into our Upper East Side penthouse, I didn’t find a cake or a "welcome home" banner. Instead, I found my husband, Caden, kneeling on the floor, helping our five-year-old daughter wrap a massive gift for my half-sister, Adalynn. Caden didn’t even look up when I walked in; he was too busy laughing with the girl who had already stolen my father’s legacy and was now moving in on my family. "Auntie Addie is a million times better than Mommy," my daughter Elara chirped, clutching a plush toy Caden had once forbidden me from buying for her. "Mommy is mean," she whispered loudly, while Caden just smirked, calling me a "drill sergeant" before whisking her off to Adalynn’s party without a second glance. Later that night, I saw a video Adalynn posted online where my husband and child laughed while mocking my "sensitive" nature, treating me like an inconvenient ghost in my own home. I had spent five years researching nutrition for Elara’s health and managing every detail of Caden’s empire, only to be discarded the moment I wasn't in the room. How could the man who set his safe combination to my birthday completely forget I even existed? The realization didn't break me; it turned me into ice. I didn't scream or beg for an explanation. I simply walked into the study, pulled out the divorce papers I’d drafted months ago, and took a black marker to the terms. I crossed out the alimony, the mansion, and even the custody clause—if they wanted a life without me, I would give them exactly what they asked for. I left my four-carat diamond ring on the console table and walked out into the rain with nothing but a heavily encrypted hard drive. The submissive Mrs. Holloway was gone, and "Ghost," the most lethal architect in the tech world, was finally back online to take back everything they thought I’d forgotten.

I was four months pregnant, weighing over two hundred pounds, and my heart was failing from experimental treatments forced on me as a child. My doctor looked at me with clinical detachment and told me I was in a death sentence: if I kept the baby, I would die, and if I tried to remove it, I would die. Desperate for a lifeline, I called my father, Francis Acosta, to tell him I was sick and pregnant. I expected a father's love, but all I got was a cold, sharp blade of a voice. "Then do it quietly," he said. "Don't embarrass Candi. Her debutante ball is coming up." He didn't just reject me; he erased me. My trust fund was frozen, and I was told I was no longer an Acosta. My fiancĆ©, Auston, had already discarded me, calling me a "bloated whale" while he looked for a thinner, wealthier replacement. I left New York on a Greyhound bus, weeping into a bag of chips, a broken woman the world considered a mistake. I couldn't understand how my own father could tell me to die "quietly" just to save face for a party. I didn't know why I had been a lab rat for my family’s pharmaceutical ambitions, or how they could sleep at night while I was left to rot in the gray drizzle of the city. Five years later, the doors of JFK International Airport slid open. I stepped onto the marble floor in red-soled stilettos, my body lean, lethal, and carved from years of blood and sweat. I wasn't the "whale" anymore; I was a ghost coming back to haunt them. With my daughter by my side and a medical reputation that terrified the global elite, I was ready to dismantle the Acosta empire piece by piece. "Tell Francis to wash his neck," I whispered to the skyline. "I'm home."

I had just survived a private jet crash, my body a map of violet bruises and my lungs still burning from the smoke. I woke up in a sterile hospital room, gasping for my husband's name, only to realize I was completely alone. While I was bleeding in a ditch, my husband, Adam, was on the news smiling at a ribbon-cutting ceremony. When I tracked him down at the hospital's VIP wing, I didn't find a grieving husband. I found him tenderly cradling his ex-girlfriend, Casie, in his arms, his face lit with a protective warmth he had never shown me as he carried her into the maternity ward. The betrayal went deeper than I could have imagined. Adam admitted the affair started on our third anniversary-the night he claimed he was stuck in London for a merger. Back at the manor, his mother had already filled our planned nursery with pink boutique bags for Casie's "little princess." When I demanded a divorce, Adam didn't flinch. He sneered that I was "gutter trash" from a foster home and that I'd be begging on the streets within a week. To trap me, he froze my bank accounts, cancelled my flight, and even called the police to report me for "theft" of company property. I realized then that I wasn't his partner; I was a charity case he had plucked from obscurity to manage his life. To the Hortons, I was just a servant who happened to sleep in the master bedroom, a "resilient" woman meant to endure his abuse in silence while the whole world laughed at the joke that was my marriage. Adam thought stripping me of his money would make me crawl back to him. He was wrong. I walked into his executive suite during his biggest deal of the year and poured a mug of sludge over his original ten-million-dollar contracts. Then, right in front of his board and his mistress, I stripped off every designer thread he had ever paid for until I was standing in nothing but my own silk camisole. "You can keep the clothes, Adam. They're as hollow as you are." I grabbed my passport, turned my back on his billions, and walked out of that glass tower barefoot, bleeding, and finally free.
