In a previous life, Maeve had loved an unworthy man unconditionally, but sadly, she met a tragic end, drowning in the sea. Reborn, she decided to live a completely different life, joyful and unburdened by commitments. It just so happened that the despicable woman who was her rival in love in her past life released a song in the hopes of becoming a pop star. Unfortunately for her, her wish would never come true. As soon as Maeve released her first song, she rose in popularity rapidly, topping the charts consistently. Every time the despicable woman put on a pitiful face and pretended to be the victim, Maeve would play along with her little act before finally giving her a sharp slap across the face. At the end of the day, Maeve's skills and talents were unparalleled. Learning from her mistakes in her previous life, she gradually climbed to the top. Decisive and ruthless as she was, she couldn't help but be tender and gentle towards that man she once loved... "Darling, I'm ready! Come and join me!" She called to him. She was seductive and alluring. The man, unable to resist her charm, whispered to her, "Take the day off tomorrow because you won't be able to leave bed!"

We Will Never Part Again Chapter 1 The Bitter Truth

"Fuck you, Grace!"

Maeve Wright yelled, the veins in her forehead throbbing. She badly wanted to strangle the woman in front of her and send her to hell.

However, there was nothing she could do as two strong men had already tied her up.

Grace Wright flipped her hair back and folded her arms. With a look of disdain, she uttered, "Shout all you want, bitch. No one will come to save you. Why? Because the only person who loved you is dead. And it's all your fault!"

These words pierced Maeve's heart like a thousand sharp knives.

Some time ago, she was forced to marry Dominic Mason for the good of her family. She didn't love him, so she couldn't bring herself to allow him to touch her or get anywhere near her. She even did all kinds of things to hurt him.

Even if he died trying to save her from a burning house, she felt he deserved it.

All that changed today. Today, Maeve finally realized that Dominic who always seemed so cold and ruthless was actually deeply in love with her.

Regret tore her from the inside. She regretted doing all the terrible things she did and also failing to see Dominic's kindness.

"Dominic can't die. He must still be alive." Although Maeve had seen Dominic dart into the raging fire with her own eyes, she still held out hope that he had somehow made it out alive and would show up in time to save her yet again.

"Is Dominic Superman to you? Do you seriously believe he's still alive after walking into a fire that big?"

Grace's eyes narrowed to slits and a sinister smile appeared on her mouth as she added, "Well, Dominic did survive the fire. By the time he was brought out of the house, his entire body was burnt and his life was hanging by a thread. It might interest you to know that he was still worried about you in that state. Gosh! What a pity that the most handsome man in Morhurst reduced himself to nothing just for a woman who never loved him."

Maeve's eyes widened in horror. In her mind's eye, she saw how the flames roasted Dominic alive, destroying his handsome face and his skin. And all for what? Just to save her!

This made her heart ached like never before.

She wished she could turn back the hands of time now. If she could see him, she would apologize profusely.

She wouldn't care even if he was a top gun in the world of criminals.

"Anyways, he's gone. But you know what? What killed Dominic wasn't exactly the fourth-degree burns. It's actually you!"

"No way! That's not true!" Maeve shook her head repeatedly. "Dominic can't die. He's still alive! He must be!"

"Ha-ha-ha!" Grace laughed out loud and pointed as if Maeve was the biggest idiot she had ever seen. "Dominic's blood type is very rare. It has the Rh-negative trait. The blood bank he prepared for himself was emptied just to save you.

You don't believe me? Think about it! How do you think you were able to survive that accident?"

Indeed, the truth was bitter.

This fact left Maeve stunned.

She also had the Rh-negative blood trait.

She remembered she had been in dire need of blood when she got into a car accident not too long ago. The doctor complained that no blood in store matched hers. But strangely, she was able to receive blood supply shortly after.

It wasn't until now that she realized what had happened. Dominic gave the doctor access to his own blood bank.

"So, you see. Dominic is dead." Grace kept talking, causing Maeve to almost go crazy. Her knees buckled and she would have collapsed if not for the men holding her.

"And now, it's your turn! Once you are gone, I'll inherit everything Dominic owns and become the most respected person in Morhurst. People will bow down to me, and me alone!"

Maeve was so hurt and desperate that she paid no mind to Grace's words.

Everything Dominic did for her flashed through her mind.

Although he was a naturally cold man and didn't know how to express himself properly, he did wonderful things to show that he cared.

Unfortunately, his thoughtful actions went unnoticed because Maeve had been in love with someone else. She was so blind that she repaid his kindness with hostility.

It finally dawned on her that she had been so stupid. The only one who loved her used to be right by her side, but she kept pursuing some scumbag who seemed like he was cut out of the same cloth as Grace.

Maeve was gutted now.

She regretted everything.

If she had her way, she'd give up her life just to bring Dominic back to life. He didn't deserve to die!

The sterile white of the operating room blurred, then sharpened, as Skye Sterling felt the cold clawing its way up her body. The heart monitor flatlined, a steady, high-pitched whine announcing her end. Her uterus had been removed, a desperate attempt to stop the bleeding, but the blood wouldn't clot. It just kept flowing, warm and sticky, pooling beneath her. Through heavy eyes, she saw a trembling nurse holding a phone on speaker. "Mr. Kensington," the nurse's voice cracked, "your wife... she's critical." A pause, then a sweet, poisonous giggle. Seraphina Miller. "Liam is in the shower," Seraphina's voice purred. "Stop calling, Skye. It's pathetic. Faking a medical emergency on our anniversary? Even for you, that's low." Then, Liam's bored voice: "If she dies, call the funeral home. I have a meeting in the morning." Click. The line went dead. A second later, so did Skye. The darkness that followed was absolute, suffocating, a black ocean crushing her lungs. She screamed into the void, a silent, agonizing wail of regret for loving a man who saw her as a nuisance, for dying without ever truly living. Until she died, she didn't understand. Why was her life so tragically wasted? Why did her husband, the man she loved, abandon her so cruelly? The injustice of it all burned hotter than the fever in her body. Then, the air rushed back in. Skye gasped, her body convulsing violently on the mattress. Her eyes flew open, wide and terrified, staring blindly into the darkness. Her trembling hand reached for her phone. May 12th. Five years ago. She was back.

Today is October 14th, my birthday. I returned to New York after months away, dragging my suitcase through the biting wind, but the VIP pickup zone where my husband’s Maybach usually idled was empty. When I finally let myself into our Upper East Side penthouse, I didn’t find a cake or a "welcome home" banner. Instead, I found my husband, Caden, kneeling on the floor, helping our five-year-old daughter wrap a massive gift for my half-sister, Adalynn. Caden didn’t even look up when I walked in; he was too busy laughing with the girl who had already stolen my father’s legacy and was now moving in on my family. "Auntie Addie is a million times better than Mommy," my daughter Elara chirped, clutching a plush toy Caden had once forbidden me from buying for her. "Mommy is mean," she whispered loudly, while Caden just smirked, calling me a "drill sergeant" before whisking her off to Adalynn’s party without a second glance. Later that night, I saw a video Adalynn posted online where my husband and child laughed while mocking my "sensitive" nature, treating me like an inconvenient ghost in my own home. I had spent five years researching nutrition for Elara’s health and managing every detail of Caden’s empire, only to be discarded the moment I wasn't in the room. How could the man who set his safe combination to my birthday completely forget I even existed? The realization didn't break me; it turned me into ice. I didn't scream or beg for an explanation. I simply walked into the study, pulled out the divorce papers I’d drafted months ago, and took a black marker to the terms. I crossed out the alimony, the mansion, and even the custody clause—if they wanted a life without me, I would give them exactly what they asked for. I left my four-carat diamond ring on the console table and walked out into the rain with nothing but a heavily encrypted hard drive. The submissive Mrs. Holloway was gone, and "Ghost," the most lethal architect in the tech world, was finally back online to take back everything they thought I’d forgotten.

I was sitting in the Presidential Suite of The Pierre, wearing a Vera Wang gown worth more than most people earn in a decade. It was supposed to be the wedding of the century, the final move to merge two of Manhattan's most powerful empires. Then my phone buzzed. It was an Instagram Story from my fiancé, Jameson. He was at Charles de Gaulle Airport in Paris with a caption that read: "Fuck the chains. Chasing freedom." He hadn't just gotten cold feet; he had abandoned me at the altar to run across the world. My father didn't come in to comfort me. He burst through the door roaring about a lost acquisition deal, telling me the Holland Group would strip our family for parts if the ceremony didn't happen by noon. My stepmother wailed about us becoming the laughingstock of the Upper East Side. The Holland PR director even suggested I fake a "panic attack" to make myself look weak and sympathetic to save their stock price. Then Jameson’s sleazy cousin, Pierce, walked in with a lopsided grin, offering to "step in" and marry me just to get his hands on my assets. I looked at them and realized I wasn't a daughter or a bride to anyone in that room. I was a failed asset, a bouncing check, a girl whose own father told her to go to Paris and "beg" the man who had just publicly humiliated her. The girl who wanted to be loved died in that mirror. I realized that if I was going to be sold to save a merger, I was going to sell myself to the one who actually controlled the money. I marched past my parents and walked straight into the VIP holding room. I looked the most powerful man in the room—Jameson’s cold, ruthless uncle, Fletcher Holland—dead in the eye and threw the iPad on the table. "Jameson is gone," I said, my voice as hard as stone. "Marry me instead."
