Chapter 1 Thunderstorm

The thunderstorm screaming through the clouds worried him.

It was a sunny afternoon... Where did the thunderstorm come from?

Calvin could tell it was a bad Omen.

He needed to see his son Immediately, cause only his son was ill.

But all he gets is a shock!

His eyes sees as his clothes and belongings were being destroyed and thrown outside.

He suspected a robbery but the mansion he and his family occupied had too much security Available to protect his wife and son.

Although by the look of things... It seems like a meeting was being held in his home, but destroying his properties was something he could not understand clearly till he reached.

"Why are you destroying my things?" Calvin asked as he looked at the security man who didn't speak a word to him.

"Pow!" He grabs one, slamming him to the ground before rooting the second and punching the third causing the men to fear.

"Are you mad! Who gave you the order to raid my things!?" Calvin fires at the injured man.

"Your wife gave the order!" The man answered before Calvin heard a loud cry from the house.

"I need my inhaler!" He heard faintly from the house before he rushed in to find his son over the staircase, struggling for his life.

Calvin's heart began to pound so hard as he grabbed his son to himself before he immediately searched through the stairs for his inhaler, as panic hit him hard.

"Austin, where is your inhaler?" He asked his child who was convulsing for his life as his tears began to rush out from his eyes.

He leaves son and immediately begins to scatter through the room to find the inhaler but he couldn't find it and this made him more worried as he knew he was running out of time, since Austin's life was at stake.

"Sunil, our son!" Calvin screamed for the help of his wife as he carried his child over his arms rushing through the stairs till he reached downstairs searching for the inhaler and his wife who was nowhere to be found.

"Sunil!" He shouted out his wife's name over and over again, only for him to see her, walking out to him, so calming in a crop show-Back top, acting uneven to his panicked reactions to save his son.

She looked at her husband and all she wanted was for him to Disappear from her life.

"I couldn't find his inhaler, it seems he has been choking, let's rush him to the hospital." Calvin said to her as he rushed towards his car.

"Why should I care?" His wife fired at him.

"What!?" Calvin asked, shocked.

"Can't you see he is dying! Hold him, I need your car keys!" Calvin said to his wife as she turned to walk away from him and Austin.

"I need you to get out for good! Or you will hate what I will do to you!" Sunil threatened as Calvin stared at his wife shaking.

"Sunil! It's our son, I am talking about!" Calvin said as he forcefully removed the keys from her hand, collecting Austin which she held like her child had become a luggage, then she followed him out, yelling for him to return the car keys he took from her.

"Allow me to take my son for treatment!" Calvin said as he placed his son in the back seat, with Sunil entering the car as well as Calvin drove straight to the hospital.

Immediately they reached, he got out of his wife's car and handed her back her key as tears filled his eyes seeing how much his wife was disappointing him right before his face.

"You better keep breathing son! I can't lose you now." Calvin begged his son over the patient bed that was brought to rush him into the patient room, as Calvin followed the attendants watching through the glass wall.

Calvin watches as the doctor places an inhaler over Austin before falling to his knees molding his hand into a hard punch as tries to control his fear whilst holding onto his long sleeve so hard that the buttons flew off its holds.

The doctor attending to his son walks out to meet Calvin, taking him where to sit.

"Doctor, my son's asthma has never been as serious as it looks now... I could see the veins over his chest region turning green." Calvin tells the doctor as the doctor calms him down.

"What's happening to my son?" Calvin asked as he held the doctor's hand so closely.

"I am so sorry to tell you that due to his discontinued treatment, his lung airways were inflamed and it resulted in cancer and it needs to be surgically removed." The doctor said to him and Calvin turned to look at Sunil, the person he had always given money for Austin's continuous treatment.

Calvin was trying to keep himself in order, he wanted to focus on ensuring his son was okay before he walked a step closer to the doctor.

"I can't believe my little boy will have such an illness Doctor, no wonder he complained of his hair falling off." Calvin said before he looked at his wife again, not trying to think that she actually didn't take Austin for regular checkups all through the monies he gave.

"Well, the surgical operation would cost the sum of one million dollars, this is because we would need to replace his inflamed lungs with a healthy one." The doctor replies.

"Wow! Where would I get such an amount?" Calvin said before he recalled he had emergency savings kept for his family.

"A million dollars just for cancer, like that's too much to waste." She shamelessly said.

"Are you insinuating that our son's life is a waste? Can't you see how important he is in our lives?" Calvin asked his wife, shocked.

Calvin not wasting a second, called the bank manager in charge of their emergency account and the news he heard shoke him as he slowly dropped his phone back to his side.

"Why?" He asked his wife.

"Why! Don't you dare look away! Where's our one point five million dollar emergency savings?" He asked her, holding his hurt.

"He said you had withdrawn all our emergency money for what!?" He yelled at her while she stayed silent before bashing back at him.

"You better shut it! I used the money!" She said to Calvin who was running mad.

"To buy what!?" He asked back.

"I added over $50,000 dollars to the money to get myself this bag." Sunil said as Calvin looked at the little bag she held to herself.

"Hahaha! So you even added over fifty thousand dollars to our emergency savings of one point five million to get this little bag." Calvin said as he grabbed his hair.

He wasn't sure if he was running mad or if he was only upset and losing his mind as his legs felt weak, almost fainting before the doctor held him, placing him over a seat.

"You're so heartless... You had treats over my sweat, used money I saved for our family to buy one bag." Calvin began to cry as he sat down, with his tears dropping to the floor as the doctor excused himself from them, irritated by his wife's ridiculous act.

"You knew very well that I come from a rich family and filthy rich spoiled daughters like me."

"Can buy anything I please... Unlike you who has to beg to drive my car!" She mocked him.

"Do you think I don't know how poor you are!?" She insulted him and he got to his feet furious.

"No Sunil! I worked hard, I saved and I had one point five million dollars of my sweat! And if there's any cause on why I am broke now... the heartless reason would be you!" Calvin fires as he collects her bag and tore it into two.

"Pow!" Sunil lands him a hot slap!

"Our son can go to hell!" She yelled at him.

"Boom!" She lands him another slap before pushing him away as she rushes to carry her bag and as soon as she did that... She removes her sharp eye pencil inside and slams her bag hardly to his face, forcing Calvin to cover his face.

Then she stabs the eye pencil into his arm, causing him to bleed out blood.

He couldn't help but be disappointed.

He expected better of his wife... He always thought their love was strong, but with what he was seeing... He knew for sure that her behavior was a result of something he had not seen coming before.

I lay paralyzed on stiff white sheets, a prisoner in my own skin, listening to the rain lash against the window like nails on a coffin. My father, Elmore Franco, didn't even look at my face as he checked his clipboard. He just listened to the steady, monotonous beep of the heart monitor-the only thing proving I was still alive. Without a hint of remorse, he pulled a pen from his pocket and signed the Do Not Resuscitate order. My stepmother, Ophelia, stepped out from behind him, wearing my favorite pearl necklace and smelling of cloying perfume. She leaned close to my ear to whisper the truth that turned my blood to ice. "It was the tea, darling. Just like your mother. A slow, tasteless poison." She chuckled as she revealed that my fiancé, Bryce, had a two-year-old son with my sister, Daniela. My inheritance had been funding their secret life for years, and now that the money was secure, I was an inconvenience they were finally scrubbing away. As my father yanked the power cord from the wall, the beeping died, and the darkness swallowed me whole. I was being murdered by my own flesh and blood, used as a bank account until I was no longer needed. I died in that sterile room, drowning in the realization that every person I ever loved was a monster who had been waiting for me to take my last breath. Then, I gasped. I woke up in a luxury hotel suite surrounded by silk sheets, five years in the past-the very morning of my wedding. Next to me lay Basile Delgado, the "Wolf of Wall Street" and my family's most dangerous enemy. In my first life, I ran from this room in a panic and lost everything. This time, I looked at the man who would eventually destroy my father's empire and decided to join him. "I'm not leaving, Basile. Marry me. Right now. Today."

I sat in the gray, airless room of the New York State Department of Corrections, my knuckles white as the Warden delivered the news. "Parole denied." My father, Howard Sterling, had forged new evidence of financial crimes to keep me behind bars. He walked into the room, smelling of expensive cologne, and tossed a black folder onto the steel table. It was a marriage contract for Lucas Kensington, a billionaire currently lying in a vegetative state in the ICU. "Sign it. You walk out today." I laughed at the idea of being sold to a "corpse" until Howard slid a grainy photo toward me. It showed a toddler with a crescent-moon birthmark—the son Howard told me had died in an incubator five years ago. He smiled and told me the boy's safety depended entirely on my cooperation. I was thrust into the Kensington estate, where the family treated me like a "drowned rat." They dressed me in mothball-scented rags and mocked my status, unaware that I was monitoring their every move. I watched the cousin, Julian, openly waiting for Lucas to die to inherit the empire, while the doctors prepared to sign the death certificate. I didn't understand why my father would lie about my son’s death for years, or what kind of monsters would use a child as a bargaining chip. The injustice of it burned in my chest as I realized I was just a pawn in a game of old money and blood. As the monitors began to flatline and the family started to celebrate their inheritance, I locked the door and reached into the hem of my dress. I pulled out the sharpened silver wires I’d fashioned in the prison workshop. They thought they bought a submissive convict, but they actually invited "The Saint"—the world’s most dangerous underground surgeon—into their home. "Wake up, Lucas. You owe me a life." I wasn't there to be a bride; I was there to wake the dead and burn their empire to the ground.

I woke up on silk sheets that smelled of expensive cedar and cold sandalwood, a world away from my cramped apartment in Brooklyn. Beside me lay Ezra Gardner—my boss, the billionaire CEO of Gardner Holdings, and the man who could end my career with a snap of his fingers. He didn’t offer an apology for the night before; instead, he looked at me with terrifying clarity and proposed a cold, calculated business arrangement. "Marriage. It stabilizes the board and solves the PR crisis before it begins." He dressed me in archival Chanel and sent me home in his Maybach, but my life was already falling apart. My boyfriend, Irving, claimed he had passed out early, yet his location data placed him at my best friend’s apartment until three in the morning. When I tried to run, I realized Ezra was already ten steps ahead, tracking my movements and uncovering the secret I’d spent twenty years hiding: my connection to the powerful Senator Grimes. I was trapped between a CEO who treated me like a line item on a quarterly report and a boyfriend who had been using me while sleeping with my closest friend. I felt like a pawn in a game I didn't understand, wondering why a man like Ezra would walk up forty flights of stairs on a broken leg just to make sure I was safe. "Showtime, Mrs. Gardner." Standing on the red carpet in a gown that cost more than my life, I watched my cheating ex-boyfriend’s face turn pale as Ezra claimed me in front of the world. I wasn't just an assistant anymore; I was a weapon, and it was time to burn their world down.
