Chapter 1 Heavenly encounter

The land was shaking, people started to scatter all around. Someone was coming, it was the king's chariot. This is something very common, people panics whenever someone from the royal palace goes through the town. I live in the royal capital of Abaddon. This is the land where the vampire overlord lives, he is called "Amon Abaddon." He is one of the five ancient beings who rules one of the five great kingdoms of the world. Most of the peasants like me sees him as a monster who sucks human blood, but in reality, he is not that bad.

I remember about that one time when my father shared his story about meeting the king, he only spoke nice things about the king. It wasn't really that deep of a deal. His majesty has always been the friendliest man. He even gave out free food to all those beggars and vagrants that lived in the street and on the roads. He never asked for anything in return from any of the villagers and he always treated us all with compassion. I was not born in this kingdom though, that is what my parents told me. I was actually born on the land of the fairies. My entire family was attacked and exiled into this land where we were welcomed gently. Currently I am just an orphan girl who sells handmade shoes on the streets to make a living. Both my parents died some years ago on an accident that happened on the farm. I do not know exactly what happened, they never explained anything. I was very young at the time, so i did not know what to do. I miss them but there is nothing i can do to bring the dead back to life. There is a little cottage on the outskirts of the village, and i spend most of my time there. That way my family would be happy and I could stay away from the village. The cottage is a bit small for my liking, but the place is cozy nonetheless. It looks quite abandoned right now. The door has rusted completely shut and no light shines out from under it. My heart breaks each time i see the door, it reminds me of how many times my parents had to suffer in this horrible place. At least here we didn't have to worry about being eaten alive by the evil spirits. The house isn' t really furnished either, the table and chair are just scraps of wood from the forest, they have no furniture inside. My mother used to keep the house tidy, she knew every inch of her kitchen and every corner of the house. Everything was clean and orderly. Now it feels empty, lonely...empty. I want to scream; I want to break everything down until it becomes whole again. The room is filled with memories of her, but the walls are bare. She used to put beautiful flowers everywhere but now she is long gone. The house is full of sadness...my sadness. The house feels cold, dark...cold. So cold. I should not be standing here looking at this miserable place, I should be running far away somewhere else. But that is not possible anymore. I have nowhere else to go, no one left to take care of me or love me. There is nothing but darkness ahead of me, so i will just try to get through it. I don' t think there is a point in crying anyways, so instead I will focus my efforts on making myself better than I am right now. Even if I die trying to survive, I'll still be better off at the end then here. If I die then my suffering would end too, so that's why I'm not giving up yet. Every day when i get to the local market to sell shoes, i am greeted by my old friend Emily. She is a very nice girl who always helps me out, especially when it comes down to handling the royal palace guards. They are all vampires, so they see humans as lowly beings. We were just peasants, so they always badly behave with us. " Do not look at us directly, just give us the shoes we asked. " One of the royal guards tells me. " But you have not paid me yet, it costs me a lot time and materials to make them. " I talked back to them for the first time and got them mad at me. They started cursing me and one of them even got out of the horse to attack me. I was so scared that it felt like everything froze around me and i just waited for the guard to come close and end my miserable life. I closed my eyes tight and waited. When the guard finally came closer and started kicking the ground next to me. I opened my eyes slowly, expecting to find the guard looking at me with hate. Instead, i found him staring at the ground, he did not move nor did he say anything. As soon as the thought crossed my mind, I saw him slowly lift his head and look at me, i saw his red eyes staring right through me and into my soul. I knew this was the end but then the guard suddenly got in his knees. " What is our young lord doing in such a busy place which is full of peasants?" He was looking at someone who was standing behind me. I wondered who it was and what might make such a strong vampire get afraid and get in his knees. Then i looked behind and saw who it was. A tall handsome man was standing there. " Who is he?" I asked myself. He was giving a divine vibe to me, i felt something very strong when i looked at the man. He did not look that old, maybe in his early twenties. He had red eyes and a very shiny black hair. " Are you okay miss? " He asked me politely. I was shocked and did not know how to to react. " It is okay, nobody is going to hurt you anymore. " He looked very attractive. I immediately had a crush on him. I finally saw the badge he was wearing and the two elite guards behind him. This man is no ordinary royal royal member. He was a prince, one of the three prince of our kingdom who will become the future king. " Hi, i am prince William. I am sorry for the trouble my guards have caused you. Who you might be? " He asked me while staring at me with those shiny eyes. " I am Anna, thank you for saving me. "

I died on a Tuesday. It wasn't a quick death. It was slow, cold, and meticulously planned by the man who called himself my father. I was twenty years old. He needed my kidney to save my sister. The spare part for the golden child. I remember the blinding lights of the operating theater, the sterile smell of betrayal, and the phantom pain of a surgeon's scalpel carving into my flesh while my screams echoed unheard. I remember looking through the observation glass and seeing him-my father, Giovanni Vitiello, the Don of the Chicago Outfit-watching me die with the same detached expression he used when signing a death warrant. He chose her. He always chose her. And then, I woke up. Not in heaven. Not in hell. But in my own bed, a year before my scheduled execution. My body was whole, unscarred. The timeline had reset, a glitch in the cruel matrix of my existence, giving me a second chance I never asked for. This time, when my father handed me a one-way ticket to London-an exile disguised as a severance package-I didn't cry. I didn't beg. My heart, once a bleeding wound, was now a block of ice. He didn't know he was talking to a ghost. He didn't know I had already lived through his ultimate betrayal. He also didn't know that six months ago, during the city's brutal territory wars, I was the one who saved his most valuable asset. In a secret safe house, I stitched up the wounds of a blinded soldier, a man whose life hung by a thread. He never saw my face. He only knew my voice, the scent of vanilla, and the steady touch of my hands. He called me Sette. Seven. For the seven stitches I put in his shoulder. That man was Dante Moretti. The Ruthless Capo. The man my sister, Isabella, is now set to marry. She stole my story. She claimed my actions, my voice, my scent. And Dante, the man who could spot a lie from a mile away, believed the beautiful deception because he wanted it to be true. He wanted the golden girl to be his savior, not the invisible sister who was only ever good for her spare parts. So I took the ticket. In my past life, I fought them, and they silenced me on an operating table. This time, I will let them have their perfect, gilded lie. I will go to London. I will disappear. I will let Seraphina Vitiello die on that plane. But I will not be a victim. This time, I will not be the lamb led to slaughter. This time, from the shadows of my exile, I will be the one holding the match. And I will wait, with the patience of the dead, to watch their entire world burn. Because a ghost has nothing to lose, and a queen of ashes has an empire to gain.
