"Come close" she whispered and I brought myself close to her. "I AM SORRY" she shouted in my ear. "Do you want to make me deaf?" I quickly stopped and gave her some distance. "You said you didn't hear me the first time so I wanted to say it in a manner I would be sure, you heard me" she smiled at me.

Chapter 1 I can't loose Mason

Mara's POV

"So what are we going to do now?" I broke the silence, as it was killing me.

He didn't say anything to me, he was looking out the window of my room.

"There is no way I am going to climb out the window with you" I spoke and he still didn't reply.

"Say something!" I shouted at him and went over to him. I lost so much control of myself that I pounced on him, and we both laid on the bed with me on top of him and my fingers digging into his shirt.

"Rape!! Rape!!!" He started to scream at the top of his lungs and I couldn't help but wonder if he had lost his senses.

"What are you doing? Why are you shouting rape? What the hell is wrong with you?" I asked him, with me trying to get up, but he held onto my hands tightly, pinning me to him.

"I was in the same position and you called it rape?" Now that you are the one in the position now, why can't I call it rape?. Or do you think that girls don't rape boys?" He whispered and I could only shake my head sideways, while still struggling to free myself from his grip.

"It isn't rape when you are the one pinning me" I rolled my eyes, but he wasn't willing to listen.

Instead, he switched sides with me and locked his lips with mine, making me speechless and lost.

"What was that for?" I found myself asking when we broke free from the kiss, even though my lips were still hot and pepperish from the k*ss.

"Still feisty I see" he smirked and repeated the same action, this time making it longer and making it harder for me to catch my breath.

"I love you, Mara, '' he said when we broke free from the kiss and I found myself staring into his eyes and getting lost in them.

What has this guy done to me?

"I..." I wanted to speak but he placed his index finger in between my lips.

"You talk too much" he hushed me and I was quietly looking at him, it was as if I was trapped in some kind of trans.

Rose's POV

I sat next to Mason's bed, as I couldn't stop the tears from flowing. He was going to die and there was nothing I could do to save him. The doctors have refused to lay a finger on him. I can understand why because I am a doctor as well.

What I'm I going to do?How do I even go in search of his family?

"Number 4 St Martha's street" Mia walked in saying.

"What?" I asked her and wiped my tears.

"That is where Mason's mother lives," she smiled at me and handed me a notebook.

"How did you know that?" I asked her with a lost expression. How was she able to track down his mother, when nobody even knows whether he has a family or not?.

Everyone thought that mason was an orphan, I mean why won't they? He never speaks of his family or anybody related to him and that too he doesn't keep friends.

"I went to his house," Mia said, feeling very proud of herself.

"Isn't his house locked or something?" I found myself asking while I continued to look at the piece of paper she handed me earlier.

"Yes, but many humans do leave spare keys outside their house, usually close to the door. Maybe under a foot mat outside, or a statue stuck to the wall" Mia tilted her head towards the right and I used my hand to support her as usual.

"So in simple English, you went into his house and snooped around his things?" I asked her.

"Yes," she didn't even feel like she had done something wrong.

"Mia, that is very wrong, and if someone had caught you, then they would have labeled you a thief which you aren't" I tried to explain things to her while I patted her head.

"I know that but you are always looking so sad, I just wanted to help. Mia looked so innocent, her blue eyes even made it harder for me to blame her.

"Okay let's go find her" I suggested and stood up but Mia just didn't get up.

"We can't," Mia looked at Mason as she adjusted his bed sheets.

"Why?" I requested to know her reason.

"Because we are still in our working hours" Mia replied and I had to smack my forehead with my palm.

"And our lunch break is over," I added, looking at my beeping watch.

"Wait" she drew me back.

"Yes," I responded and walked up to her.

"Stop crying, Mason is going to be fine" she smiled at me, and then just walked away.

What kind of human being is she? One minute, she has no emotion, and then other times, she becomes so emotional that I begin to wonder if I am talking with the same person.

But whatever way she is, I cannot deny the fact that I care about her, so I wiped my face with my handkerchief and looked at Mason one more time before leaving the room.

SHANA GRAY

I died on a Tuesday. It wasn't a quick death. It was slow, cold, and meticulously planned by the man who called himself my father. I was twenty years old. He needed my kidney to save my sister. The spare part for the golden child. I remember the blinding lights of the operating theater, the sterile smell of betrayal, and the phantom pain of a surgeon's scalpel carving into my flesh while my screams echoed unheard. I remember looking through the observation glass and seeing him-my father, Giovanni Vitiello, the Don of the Chicago Outfit-watching me die with the same detached expression he used when signing a death warrant. He chose her. He always chose her. And then, I woke up. Not in heaven. Not in hell. But in my own bed, a year before my scheduled execution. My body was whole, unscarred. The timeline had reset, a glitch in the cruel matrix of my existence, giving me a second chance I never asked for. This time, when my father handed me a one-way ticket to London-an exile disguised as a severance package-I didn't cry. I didn't beg. My heart, once a bleeding wound, was now a block of ice. He didn't know he was talking to a ghost. He didn't know I had already lived through his ultimate betrayal. He also didn't know that six months ago, during the city's brutal territory wars, I was the one who saved his most valuable asset. In a secret safe house, I stitched up the wounds of a blinded soldier, a man whose life hung by a thread. He never saw my face. He only knew my voice, the scent of vanilla, and the steady touch of my hands. He called me Sette. Seven. For the seven stitches I put in his shoulder. That man was Dante Moretti. The Ruthless Capo. The man my sister, Isabella, is now set to marry. She stole my story. She claimed my actions, my voice, my scent. And Dante, the man who could spot a lie from a mile away, believed the beautiful deception because he wanted it to be true. He wanted the golden girl to be his savior, not the invisible sister who was only ever good for her spare parts. So I took the ticket. In my past life, I fought them, and they silenced me on an operating table. This time, I will let them have their perfect, gilded lie. I will go to London. I will disappear. I will let Seraphina Vitiello die on that plane. But I will not be a victim. This time, I will not be the lamb led to slaughter. This time, from the shadows of my exile, I will be the one holding the match. And I will wait, with the patience of the dead, to watch their entire world burn. Because a ghost has nothing to lose, and a queen of ashes has an empire to gain.
