Chapter 1 Mr. Vikram's Party

Today is Wednesday as Monalisa couldn't contain the joy and happiness that kept flushing down her veins. For she waited patiently for this day to finally come through for her and now is the day.

Monalisa is a smart woman and hardworking lady who owns one of the biggest ushering companies in town. Her and her team are very good when it comes to delivering quality ushering services.

Monalisa had gotten an exclusive contract with one of the biggest moguls in town to bring her and her team as ushers in the party.

Mr. Vikram who is throwing a heart warming party at his mansion,as he celebrates his sons while he steps down for them to manage it in his name. Mr. Vikram is a man in his late Sixties who has enjoyed every bit of what life has to offer.

He is a philanthropist who is popularly known for his extravagant lifestyle. He is also a man of his words who God has blessed with two great sons; Dakota and Leon.

The morning top hour from Cool FM was faintly heard from the living room. As they played Heal the world by M.J . Those songs reminded Monalisa of her late best friend whom she lost to the cold hands of death.

Now is not the time to grieve over the past as she whispers slowly to herself. Without any hesitation she grabbed her mobile phone and did a short Zoom call meeting with her girls and her team members.

Hello! Girls

Everyone responded to her greetings with a beautiful smile on their faces. They can't wait to show Mr. Vikram what they are capable of doing.

"I hope you all have ironed your blues dress and polished your black shoes. Today is going to be great for us girls and I can feel it, in fact I can see it."

They all responded in chorus "Yes ma'am"

Remember our slogan girls.

"It's about progress not perfection, so put on your smiling cap and let's get this done once and for all."

They all smiled happily and ended the call in unison

After the call, Monalisa was filled with joy in her hearts as she joyfully flinged her wardrobe wide open to pick a perfect dress for a perfect day like today.

She was proud of herself and her brand. This was the fruit of her sowing the seed she loves to do without a force. She has been running this brand all by herself since she lost her friend. Her ushers were young girls who were helpless and lacked the basic need of life.

Monalisa brought them to light and gave them a better life by allowing them to work for her and getting paid. Those girls are who they are today because of the help of Monalisa, a queen and more as she was lost in the thought of how she started a brand, a call came in.

Riiiing, Riinggg... .

"Lucien, let's get a divorce," I said in a peremptory tone that was long overdue, the most decisive farewell to this absurd marriage. We had been married for exactly three years-three years that, for me, were filled with nothing but endless loneliness and torment. For three years, the husband who should have stood by my side through every storm, Lucien Sullivan, had completely disappeared from my life as if he had never existed. He vanished without a trace, leaving me alone to endure this empty, desolate marriage. Today, I finally received his message: "I'm back. Come pick me up at the airport." When I read his words, my heart leapt with joy, and I raced to the airport, thinking that he finally understood my love and was coming back to me. But his cruelty was far worse than I could have ever imagined-he was accompanied by a pregnant woman, and that woman was Carla, my closest and most trusted friend. In that moment, all of my previous excitement, all my hope, and all of our shared laughter and tears turned into the sharpest of daggers, stabbing into my heart and leaving me gasping for air. Now, all I want is to escape from this place that has left me so broken-to lick my wounds in solitude. Even if these wounds will remain with me for the rest of my life, I refuse to have anything to do with him ever again. He should know that it was his own hand that trampled our love underfoot, that his coldness and betrayal created this irreparable situation. But when he heard those words, he desperately clung to this broken, crumbling marriage, unwilling to let it end-almost as though doing so could rewind time and return everything to how it used to be. "Aurora, come back. I regret everything!" Regret? Those simple words stirred no emotion in me-only endless sadness and fury. My heart let out a frantic, desperate scream: It's too late for any of this!
