"After waiting for four years, what Daisy received was a divorce petition. Looking at the man she had given her heart to standing in front of her, Daisy asked, "Is it really over between us? Were all these years of emotions fake?" Matthew smirked. "You brought it all upon yourself. If you hadn't schemed to drive Jazzie away, this position of Matthew's wife would have been hers." Daisy collapsed in despair, realizing that he had never truly forgotten his first love. All these years, she had been dancing around like a clown. How ironic. "Fine, let's get a divorce." After a moment... Matthew: "Daisy, I know I was wrong. Don't marry someone else, don't leave me. Can we go home?" Daisy: "Home? That home has already been destroyed by you. Matthew, I don't want to reconcile. Just go away."

The Regret Of The Ex-Husband Chapter 1 Let's get divorced!

Inside the dining room of a large villa, I sat staring blankly at a cake and candles, surrounded by all kinds of food that had started to cool down.

Just like my heart and my gaze, it was so cold that my emotions were numb.

I clasped my phone, hesitating before finally making the call.

The phone rang for a long time, and it wasn't until the tenth call that someone answered.

"What's up?"

An impatient male voice echoed.

I pursed my lips a little before asking, "Matthew, are you coming home tonight? Today is..."

"Not coming back."

Beep beep beep...

It was our fourth wedding anniversary and also my birthday.

But it seemed he had forgotten again. Yes, he forgot "again".

We had been married for four years, but Matthew never remembered this anniversary or my birthday.

I should have gotten used to it, but looking at the cake and candles in front of me, I couldn't help but shed tears.

Ring...

At this moment, the phone rang again. It was Matthew calling.

I happily answered, but on the other end was still the impatient male voice.

"Wait, I'll be home in a bit."

"Really?"

I asked happily again, but Matthew had already hung up. This was enough to show how much he despised wasting his time on me, but I was still very excited because Matthew agreed to come home and celebrate my birthday with me.

Embracing this happy feeling, I finally waited for Matthew to return. It was eleven o'clock at night, luckily it wasn't yet a new day.

However, what greeted my hopeful expression was the divorce papers in his hands.

"Sign it, I will give you a house and enough money to live comfortably for the rest of your life."

As the given sentence is already in the active voice, I cannot convert it into the passive voice. However, there are two different ways to rephrase the sentence in the active voice:

"Why... why?" My voice became shaky.

I tried to force out a very awkward smile and asked pitifully, "Are you... joking with me? Ha ha, it's too funny. I don't like jokes like this. I have a gift for you. It's a watch. Let me put it on for you."

With that, I awkwardly grabbed Matthew's hand, wanting to put the watch on for him.

Smack!

Matthew pushed me, and the watch flew far away and hit the corner of the glass wall, shattering it. My mood plummeted to the bottom of a pit.

"That's enough, Daisy. This is the biggest concession I can give you. Best you know this, if you don't, leave empty-handed."

I finally could not hold back my tears. Each drop fell, blurring my face, but there was no way to evoke pity for Matthew.

He still looked at me coldly. No, within that coldness mixed with hatred.

Did he hate me?

For what reason?

I cry and asked, "Why do you want a divorce? At least you should give me a reason, shouldn't you? Is it because I organized the wedding anniversary party and annoyed you? Don't worry, I'll never bother you again. I'll stay at home and wait for you to come back."

At this moment, I was extremely humble and begged Matthew. I should have known not to do things that would make him unhappy. It's all my fault.

As long as he didn't divorce me, I would behave.

However, Matthew's following words sent me straight to hell, becoming an unforgettable obsession in my mind.

"Jazzie has returned."

I burst into a bitter laugh.

So that was it.

Jazzie was back, and he wanted to divorce this troublesome wife and return the position of Mrs. Wilson to the girl he loved.

My heart was in so much pain that I couldn't breathe.

Jazzie had criticized him before as a poor young man with no future, so she had gone abroad with the rich young master to live a comfortable life.

I had been the one to stand by him, encourage him, and keep him from falling into the dark abyss.

I had given up my dreams and focused entirely on my role as a stay-at-home parent so that he could build his career.

I knew he didn't love me, but could he have no affection for me?

I stared at Matthew intently, wanting to see just how callous the man I loved was. Suddenly, my stomach churned, and I vomited in the bathroom.

In the bathroom, my mind darkened.

Due to my improper and excessive eating habits, my stomach condition has worsened. However, after emptying everything out of my stomach, my spirit felt much better.

Knock, knock, knock.

"Daisy, open the door."

Outside, Matthew was knocking, calling for me.

I propped myself up and went to open the door.

Before I could even explain that I was just experiencing stomach pain, he dragged me to the car parked outside his yard.

"Where are you taking me at this hour? Even people who reconcile divorce don't work this late," I asked.

I thought Matthew was so eager to get a divorce that he rushed me to the agency to process the paperwork.

My heart ached at the thought. Was he in such a hurry to be divorced from me?

"To the hospital," he said.

I was even more surprised, but then I felt happy. He saw that I was unwell, so...

"To get an abortion," he added.

These words were like sharp knives that stabbed straight into my heart.

My entire body froze, numb and cold, every inch of my flesh and blood tingling with sensation.

Did he want to kill our child?

"Matthew, do you want to kill our child?" I asked.

Matthew scowled and snapped, "Isn't it your fault?"

"Every time we had sex, I always used a condom, but you resorted to despicable means to get yourself pregnant. Now this baby died because of your greed and cruelty." Matthew said.

My heart skipped a beat. I wanted to laugh but couldn't.

"Do you want to clean up the road to welcome Jazzie back?"

"Not even necessary. We'll break up completely. Don't drag it out any longer," he said.

Finally, my perseverance was shattered.

I hugged my face and burst into tears. In the car, the only sound was my sobbing.

We arrived at the hospital.

Matthew pulled me inside, but I grabbed his hand and said, "I'm not pregnant. There's no need to go in there."

Matthew thought I was lying to keep the baby and tried to force me inside.

Despite my explanations, he insisted on getting me checked.

Inside the hospital, the smell of disinfectant filled my nose.

My heart felt like ashes.

I had picked the wrong man.

Today is October 14th, my birthday. I returned to New York after months away, dragging my suitcase through the biting wind, but the VIP pickup zone where my husband’s Maybach usually idled was empty. When I finally let myself into our Upper East Side penthouse, I didn’t find a cake or a "welcome home" banner. Instead, I found my husband, Caden, kneeling on the floor, helping our five-year-old daughter wrap a massive gift for my half-sister, Adalynn. Caden didn’t even look up when I walked in; he was too busy laughing with the girl who had already stolen my father’s legacy and was now moving in on my family. "Auntie Addie is a million times better than Mommy," my daughter Elara chirped, clutching a plush toy Caden had once forbidden me from buying for her. "Mommy is mean," she whispered loudly, while Caden just smirked, calling me a "drill sergeant" before whisking her off to Adalynn’s party without a second glance. Later that night, I saw a video Adalynn posted online where my husband and child laughed while mocking my "sensitive" nature, treating me like an inconvenient ghost in my own home. I had spent five years researching nutrition for Elara’s health and managing every detail of Caden’s empire, only to be discarded the moment I wasn't in the room. How could the man who set his safe combination to my birthday completely forget I even existed? The realization didn't break me; it turned me into ice. I didn't scream or beg for an explanation. I simply walked into the study, pulled out the divorce papers I’d drafted months ago, and took a black marker to the terms. I crossed out the alimony, the mansion, and even the custody clause—if they wanted a life without me, I would give them exactly what they asked for. I left my four-carat diamond ring on the console table and walked out into the rain with nothing but a heavily encrypted hard drive. The submissive Mrs. Holloway was gone, and "Ghost," the most lethal architect in the tech world, was finally back online to take back everything they thought I’d forgotten.

The heavy iron gates of the Wilderness Correction Camp groaned as they released me after three years of state-sponsored hell. I stood on the dirt road, clutching a plastic bag that held my entire life, waiting for the family that claimed they sent me there for "rehab." My brother, Brady, picked me up in a luxury SUV only to throw me out onto a deserted highway in the middle of a brewing storm. He told me I was a "public relations nightmare" and that the rain might finally wash the "stink" of the camp off me. He drove away, leaving me to limp miles through the mud on a snapped ankle. When I finally dragged myself to our family estate, my mother didn't offer a hug; she gasped in horror because my muddy clothes were ruining her Italian marble. They didn't give me my old room back. Instead, they banished me to a moldy gardener’s shack and hired a "babysitter" to make sure I didn't embarrass them further. My sister, Kaleigh, stood there in white cashmere, pretending to cry while clinging to her fiancé, Ambrose—the man who had once been mine. They all treated me like a volatile junkie, refusing to acknowledge that Kaleigh was the one who planted the drugs in my bag three years ago. They wanted to believe I was broken so they wouldn't have to feel guilty about the "wellness retreat" that was actually a torture chamber. I sat in the dark of that shed, feeling the cooling gel on the cigarette burns that covered my arms, and realized they had made a fatal mistake. They thought they had erased me, but I had returned with a roadmap of scars and a hidden satellite phone. At dinner, I didn't beg for their love. I simply rolled up my sleeves and showed them the price of their silence. As the wine spilled and the lies crumbled, I sent a single text to the only person I trusted: "I'm in. Let them simmer." The hunt was finally on.
