Being The Substituent Wife to A Billionaire Chapter 1 No.1

Early in the morning, in the French city of Lyon, a young twenty-three-year-old woman was packing all her things and putting them in a suitcase. When finished, she came out of the room and pulled out his suitcase which felt heavy. With slow steps, she walked down the stairs.

Elyana continued to walk towards the exit with stealth. Her eyes were full of vigilance looking left and right like a thief afraid of being caught by the owner of the house. At the crossroads, there was already a black car waiting for her with two people-a man and a woman-in it.

"Elyana, come on in quickly!" Arani shouted when she saw the slender body highlighted by the golden yellow street lamp walking over while pulling the pink suitcase.

Arani immediately opened the car door for Elyana, then her friend helped put the suitcases in the trunk of the car.

"Are you ready?" asked Arani after they got into the car.

"Yes, I'm ready. We can go now!" Eliana replied slowly. She sat alone in the back seat and leaned her back against it while closing her eyes.

There was a doubt that crossed her heart when she decided to run away from home to avoid an arranged marriage that would be carried out by Y. Louis-her grandfather-tomorrow afternoon. She had no other choice but to leave this city and hide in the place where her best friend-Arani. Because Elyana didn't want to marry the man her grandfather had chosen.

Daniel was heard saying while driving his car, "Okay, let's go now. After arriving at the airport, I have to return home immediately, I can't accompany you anymore. It's okay, right?"

"Okay, no problem! We can wait for the flight, the two of us. Right, El?" asked Arani while looking back. Eliana can be seen closing her eyes while folding her arms in front.

"Hmm, Yes!" Elyana answered without opening her eyes. "When we arrive in the City of Paris, we will immediately contact you!"

Yes, their current destination is the city of Paris. A major city in France, as well as where Arani currently resides.

Because, Arani has been living and working as a waiter in a restaurant in the center of Paris for two years. Elyana plans to live in Arani's rented house and find a job there as well. Elyana had to find a safe job, which Y. Louis's men could not find.

But, what job is not easy to find for a great person like Y. Louis? Elyana should think about it very maturely.

In the morning, the whole house was in an uproar with Y. Louis's anger after learning that his granddaughter had left the house.

Everyone gathered in the family room and received orders from Y. Louis, including his first granddaughter, Rosyana.

"Okay, I'll look for Elyana at her friends' houses! But now, Grandpa must calm down first, don't get emotional. Later, Grandpa's blood pressure will rise again," Rosyana said soothingly. She was worried about the condition of her grandfather who was angry non-stop.

This was because everyone in this house had received the wrath of Y. Louis-from morning to noon. Of course, that would drain the old man's energy and mind.

"Rosyana! Under these circumstances, how could you pray for me to have high blood pressure. Do you want me to die soon, then you can get half of my treasure again?" Y. Louis accused Rosyana, still with emotion.

"Is the half of your father's inheritance that I gave you yesterday, still not enough for your life?" he said again, still not satisfied.

"That's the reason, why this time I want to set Elyana up with the man of my choice. I don't want Elyana to choose the wrong man like you. Just for the sake of fulfilling my requirements, you get a husband with origin. And in the end, you get divorced, right?"

Rosyana didn't speak anymore. She knew that everything his grandfather said was true. She married herself, only for the sake of getting half of his father's inheritance. And now, Rosyana is divorced because her husband has another ideal woman. Her heart ached so much about it.

Hearing it, Y. Louis said to everyone, "Check the CCTV footage outside again. Where did Elyana go last night?"

"Sorry, Sir.! From the CCTV footage, she was left in a black car, assisted by two men and a woman. After we checked the number of the car, it turned out that it belonged to a friend of Elyana," said Judis confidently.

As a personal assistant who has devoted herself for more than twenty years, Judis knows exactly what she has to do. Without waiting for orders from Y. Louis. She had seen the CCTV footage and found out the person who took Elyana away. In fact, she had already given orders to her subordinates to immediately bring the person here.

Sure enough, soon, Daniel came to be brought by two men dressed in black with tall and big bodies. Daniel was forced to kneel in front of Y. Louis and explained what happened yesterday.

"Where did you take Elyana?" asked Y. Louis with fiery eyes. His anger had reached its peak.

Eliana's disappearance today would destroy her image as the number one person in this city. Because previously, he had announced Elyana's engagement party with Dimitriss Fades-a forty-three-year-old rich businessman-and the status of a widower with one child.

If the engagement ceremony were to be suddenly canceled because the woman ran away from home... where would Y. Louis' face be kept?

Dimitris and his family would be furious because they felt they had been played by Y. Louis.

That's so embarrassing!

Not only the name Y. Louis would be embarrassed, but also the entire Louis family.

"Quickly say!" Y. Louis couldn't wait to see Daniel keep silent. "Last night... where did you take Elyana? If you still don't want to answer, I will report this to your parents."

Y. Louis continued, "I wonder what their reaction would be when they found out that their eldest son had kidnapped the second miss of our family? Do they still have the face to stay in the city ?"

His threat this time really scared Daniel.

Daniel knows about the prowess of the Louis family in being able to get rid of one family until it disappears without a trace from the city of Lyon. He didn't want his family to vanish and disappear like the other families because of offending Old Master Y. Louis.

On all fours while touching Y. Louis' feet, Daniel stammered, "L-last night, El-Elyana went to the airport with Arani! T-they went to-to..."

"Where did they go?" shouted Y. Louis as he stamped one foot on the floor.

"They went to the city of Paris!" Finally Daniel said it.

Although from the beginning, he had promised not to say this to anyone, but right now, his family is in danger. Daniel could not remain silent to cover up Elyana's secret to the point of neglecting the safety of his own family. He had to tell Y. Louis for the safety of his family.

"What? The city of Paris?" Y. Loius was surprised to hear Daniel's answer.

"Why did Elyana go there?" he asked curiously.

"I don't know about that, Sir!" Daniel sighed. Afraid that Y. Louis will punish him for helping Elyana escape.

"Forgive me, Sir! I will tell you the address where Arani lives in Paris. As long as you set me free!" Daniel continued to beg. Hoping, Sir Louis freed himself.

"Judis!" Y. Louis called in an echoing voice. "Make a note, of where is the boy's home address. You go there immediately and bring Elyana home before the engagement ceremony begins!"

The heavy iron gates of the Wilderness Correction Camp groaned as they released me after three years of state-sponsored hell. I stood on the dirt road, clutching a plastic bag that held my entire life, waiting for the family that claimed they sent me there for "rehab." My brother, Brady, picked me up in a luxury SUV only to throw me out onto a deserted highway in the middle of a brewing storm. He told me I was a "public relations nightmare" and that the rain might finally wash the "stink" of the camp off me. He drove away, leaving me to limp miles through the mud on a snapped ankle. When I finally dragged myself to our family estate, my mother didn't offer a hug; she gasped in horror because my muddy clothes were ruining her Italian marble. They didn't give me my old room back. Instead, they banished me to a moldy gardener’s shack and hired a "babysitter" to make sure I didn't embarrass them further. My sister, Kaleigh, stood there in white cashmere, pretending to cry while clinging to her fiancé, Ambrose—the man who had once been mine. They all treated me like a volatile junkie, refusing to acknowledge that Kaleigh was the one who planted the drugs in my bag three years ago. They wanted to believe I was broken so they wouldn't have to feel guilty about the "wellness retreat" that was actually a torture chamber. I sat in the dark of that shed, feeling the cooling gel on the cigarette burns that covered my arms, and realized they had made a fatal mistake. They thought they had erased me, but I had returned with a roadmap of scars and a hidden satellite phone. At dinner, I didn't beg for their love. I simply rolled up my sleeves and showed them the price of their silence. As the wine spilled and the lies crumbled, I sent a single text to the only person I trusted: "I'm in. Let them simmer." The hunt was finally on.

I was once the heiress to the Solomon empire, but after it crumbled, I became the "charity case" ward of the wealthy Hyde family. For years, I lived in their shadows, clinging to the promise that Anson Hyde would always be my protector. That promise shattered when Anson walked into the ballroom with Claudine Chapman on his arm. Claudine was the girl who had spent years making my life a living hell, and now Anson was announcing their engagement to the world. The humiliation was instant. Guests sneered at my cheap dress, and a waiter intentionally sloshed champagne over me, knowing I was a nobody. Anson didn't even look my way; he was too busy whispering possessively to his new fiancée. I was a ghost in my own home, watching my protector celebrate with my tormentor. The betrayal burned. I realized I wasn't a ward; I was a pawn Anson had kept on a shelf until he found a better trade. I had no money, no allies, and a legal trust fund that Anson controlled with a flick of his wrist. Fleeing to the library, I stumbled into Dallas Koch—a titan of industry and my best friend’s father. He was a wall of cold, absolute power that even the Hydes feared. "Marry me," I blurted out, desperate to find a shield Anson couldn't climb. Dallas didn't laugh. He pulled out a marriage agreement and a heavy fountain pen. "Sign," he commanded, his voice a low rumble. "But if you walk out that door with me, you never go back." I signed my name, trading my life for the only man dangerous enough to keep me safe.

I went to the City Clerk’s office for a routine copy of my marriage license to finalize a trust fund audit. I expected a simple piece of paper, but the clerk’s pitying look told me my entire life was a lie. "The license was never finalized, Ms. Oliver. In the eyes of the state, you are single." The three-hundred-guest wedding at the Plaza and the Vogue features meant nothing. My husband, Gray Cooley, had intentionally filed the documents with a "procedural defect" so he could discard me without a legal divorce. Moments later, an iCloud invite titled "Our Little Secret" popped up on my screen. It was a photo of my best friend, Brylee, holding a positive pregnancy test at our Hamptons estate. Gray’s text to her was the final blow: "Happy anniversary, babe. This baby is the best gift. Once the trust unlocks today, we’re done with the charade." I soon discovered they were even stealing my career, reassigning my architectural masterpiece to Brylee while preparing my eviction notice. Gray's mother called me a "barren mule" in a leaked recording, mocking the infertility I suffered after saving Gray’s life in a construction accident. I wasn't a wife; I was a three-year placeholder used to secure his inheritance. How could the man I bled for treat me like a disposable prop? How could my best friend carry his child while pretending to comfort me through my darkest moments? The betrayal burned until it turned into a cold, hard stone of fury. I didn't cry. Instead, I walked into the penthouse of the Barretts, the Cooleys' most powerful rivals. I signed a marriage contract with Kane Barrett, the man the tabloids called the "Beast of Wall Street." "I want a wedding," I told his father, my voice steady and lethal. "Bigger than the one I had with Gray." If they wanted me gone, they would have to watch me become the woman who owns their world.
