But Emanuel surprises everyone with his choice, and from then on a love story begins, where the couple will have to fight to stay together and keep their family together.

Chapter 1 1

At a time when marriages were arranged by families, CecĂlia tried to get rid of all the suitors arranged by her parents, her sister Madeleine, in turn, grew up being prepared to become the wife of her cousin Prince Emanuel, families had this agreement since they were children. CecĂlia, had already been offered to two suitors, but as soon as they met her, they gave up at the same time.

Ceci, as she was known, was a woman ahead of her time, that's why she was considered crazy, she liked things different from the traditional ones, predetermined for women of her time, Ceci liked to paint, create poetry, run through the countryside, riding and none of that was allowed for his time. Madeleine, in turn, was silent, she was the perfect woman, prepared for marriage as far back as anyone could remember, her mother always defined who was her favorite. CecĂlia's family was of medium size, they didn't have many possessions, so Madeleine's marriage to her cousin was quite a deal, it would greatly favor the family's conditions and their possessions. Prince Emanuel would complete his 21 years and to assume the throne he would have to marry, that was not his wish, but he did not have many choices, either he would marry or lose the throne, in his constant fights with his mothers he made it very clear that marriage was not his desire, but he would do it for the family.

Sophia, the matriarch of the imperial family, had always imposed her decisions and choices and everyone had to accept it and with Emanuel it was no different, she will force him to marry a woman she had chosen for him, her cousin Madeleine. Cecilia, where are you, your new suitor is on his way and you haven't even had a shower yet, you have to comb your hair, I've already sorted out a dress, where are you girl? her mother screams throughout the house and CecĂlia does not appear, she hid in the backyard, this is the third suitor she has sent this month alone, her mother no longer knows what to do with her, and does not understand what world Ceci is in live. While her sister Madeleine, in turn, is being groomed to marry Prince Emanuel, her distant cousin, their families struck a deal and agreed that the marriage would be great for both families. The trip to the kingdom is near where the bride and groom will meet and soon get married, uniting the families, Madeleine knows all the responsibilities that it is to marry a prince and all the obligations that she will carry, in fact being a trophy wife, just so that the prince can assume the throne and calm his people who are a bit euphoric with the approach of a war.

CecĂlia, on the other hand, loves her freedom, loves to write her poems and be totally original, she doesn't accept the rules willingly, as long as she can she will run away from her suitors. And finally the big day of the trip arrived, even though it wasn't necessary Madeleine insisted on CecĂlia's presence, who, despite being dissatisfied, accompanied her mother and sister on this trip and promised to behave at the height of the occasion, even though she found it all boring and unnecessary, she didn't understand how her sister accepted all this, as if it were wonderful, besides the title what else was good about being a decoration wife, where the husband would only look for her from time to time or when necessary. She went all the way writing her poems that she loved so much and each new landscape a new drawing, she lost herself in this world and her sister admired her courage in putting out everything she felt and liked, she didn't have such courage as CecĂlia, that everything was too much for Madeleine and for her mother it was called madness, how could a woman want to live in a world where she wasn't married, at a time when not being married was living on the margins of society. After a few days of travel, they finally arrived in the kingdom, where they would meet the future groom and the queen, Emanuel's mother, the matriarch of the family, the severe Sophia and Emanuel's brother, Maximus and the other brother who is still a child.

I woke up in a blindingly white hotel penthouse with a throbbing headache and the taste of betrayal in my mouth. The last thing I remembered was my stepsister, Cathie, handing me a flute of champagne at the charity gala with a smile that didn't reach her eyes. Now, a tall, dangerously handsome man walked out of the bathroom with a towel around his hips. On the nightstand sat a stack of hundred-dollar bills. My stepmother had finally done it—she drugged me and staged a scandal with a hired escort to destroy my reputation and my future. "Aisha! Is it true you spent the night with a gigolo?" The shouts of a dozen reporters echoed through the heavy oak door as camera flashes exploded through the peephole. My phone lit up with messages showing my bank accounts were already frozen. My father was invoking the 'morality clause' in my mother’s trust fund, and my fiancĂ© had already released a statement dumping me to marry my stepsister instead. I was trapped, penniless, and being hunted by the press for a scandal I hadn't even participated in. My own family had sold me out for a payday, and the man standing in front of me was the only witness who could prove I was innocent—or finish me off for good. I didn't have time to cry. According to the fine print of the trust, I had thirty days to prove my "rehabilitation" through a legal marriage or I would lose everything. I tracked the man down to a coffee shop the next morning, watching him take a thick envelope of cash from a wealthy older woman. I sat across from him and slid a napkin with a $50,000 figure written on it. "I need a husband. Legal, paper-signed, and convincing." He looked at the number, then at me, a slow, crooked smile spreading across his face. I thought I was hiring a desperate gigolo to save my inheritance. I had no idea I was actually proposing to Dominic Fields, the reclusive billionaire shark who was currently planning a hostile takeover of my father’s entire empire.

For seventeen years, I was the pride of the Carlisle family, the perfect daughter destined to inherit an empire. But that life ended the moment a DNA report slid across my father’s mahogany desk. The paper proved I was a stranger. Vanessa, the girl sobbing in the corner, was the real biological daughter they had been searching for. "You need to leave. Tonight. Before the press gets wind of this. Before the stock prices dip." My father’s voice was as cold as flint. My mother wouldn't even look at me, staring out the window at the gardens as if I were already a ghost. Just like that, I was erased. I left behind the Birkin bags and the diamonds, throwing my Centurion Card into a crystal bowl with a clatter that echoed like a gunshot. I walked out into the cold night and climbed into a rusted Ford Taurus driven by a man I had never met—my biological father. I went from a mansion to a fourth-floor walk-up in Queens that smelled of laundry detergent and struggle. My new siblings looked at me with a mix of fear and disgust, waiting for the "fallen princess" to break. They expected me to beg for my old life back, to crumble without the luxury I’d known since birth. But they didn't know the truth. I had spent years training in a shark tank, honing survival skills they couldn't imagine. While Richard Carlisle froze my trust funds to starve me out, my net worth was climbing by millions on an encrypted trading app. They thought they were throwing me to the wolves. They didn't realize they were just letting me off my leash. As the Carlisles prepared to debut Vanessa at the Manhattan Arts Gala, I was already making my move. "Get dressed. We're going to a party."
