Boss Lady and Her Stupid Husband Chapter 1 Sick Marriage

A mixture of heavy panting and subdued groaning resounded in the bridal chamber.

"Kolton, let go of me..." Elyse Padilla smelled pungent perfume from the man. Her heart broke and hurt like hell.

On the wedding night, she waited till late hours in an impeccable white dress. What she faced was not happiness but a husband who returned from a nightclub.

Elyse was so angry and aggrieved that her eyes reddened. In her rage, she pushed the man away, pulled her clothes back on, sat up, and gnashed her teeth, "Go... wash it off."

Kolton Moody leaned against the head of the bed, indifferently wiped off the lipstick marks on his face, and scorned, "Stop pretending! You racked your brains to marry me. Don't you just want me in bed?"

Elyse had never expected him to think of her this way. Her delicate face turned pale, "The connection through marriage was Ford's decision. If you're unwilling, why didn't you reject it?"

"Stop pretending!" As if his sore spot were poked, Kolton abruptly leaned over and fiercely pinched her chin.

He looked fixedly at her delicate face, glistening eyes, and cherry lips that were bitten out of anger. She looked stunning from every angle. Any man would be enchanted by her beauty.

Who would have thought that a vicious soul was hidden under her gorgeous and proud appearance?

He clasped her jaw heavily till his knuckles turned pale, "Ms. Padilla, Everyone praises you for your wealth, power, innocence, and kind heart. The truth is that you're a scheming woman. If it weren't for you, Janiyah wouldn't have died."

Like poison needles, his words pricked her heart and soul.

"Janiyah Simon had a car accident. What has it got to do with me..." Elyse resisted desperately but could not move a bit. Her eyes were tinted with shocking scarlet, "Besides, I thought that you agreed to our marriage. Ford told me that you broke up with her..."

Kolton and she were childhood sweethearts. Before her feelings for him could see the light, another woman had been in his arms, and she gave up.

Then the patriarch of the Mood Family made a pledge of marriage and advised her sincerely. She thought that Kolton was willing and her love finally saw the light...

"Shut up! You're not worthy to mention Janiyah..." Kolton suddenly bore down on her and warned her ferociously like a beast, "If you didn't wreck our relationship, the car accident wouldn't have befallen Janiyah. You're a murderer!"

"Kolton, I... didn't expect that..." Elyse shook her head desperately. Hatred was seen burning in his eyes. In his mind, she was an unpardonable enemy. Without warning, her tears fell...

Great sorrow ensued great joy. Her mind a mess, she gibbered, "Why did you agree to our marriage in the first place? Since you're dissatisfied, we can... divorce..."

"Don't even think about it! You owe Janiyah your life, and I will avenge her through making your life a living hell."

Elyse trembled in pain. Fear and remorse got the better of her. She didn't want things to go on like this. Kolton hated her to the core.

Regardless of her explanation and groan, he turned her over, pinned her down on the bed, and covered her mouth tightly, "Shut up! Your voice makes me sick..."

Elyse felt a tingling sensation in her eyes and feebly endured the tearing pain. Her heart hurt a million times more than that.

Her dream marriage came to an end before it even began.

The man kept panting. The perfume from his body disgusted and humiliated her. All of a sudden, she felt dizzy and blacked out...

The heavy iron gates of the Wilderness Correction Camp groaned as they released me after three years of state-sponsored hell. I stood on the dirt road, clutching a plastic bag that held my entire life, waiting for the family that claimed they sent me there for "rehab." My brother, Brady, picked me up in a luxury SUV only to throw me out onto a deserted highway in the middle of a brewing storm. He told me I was a "public relations nightmare" and that the rain might finally wash the "stink" of the camp off me. He drove away, leaving me to limp miles through the mud on a snapped ankle. When I finally dragged myself to our family estate, my mother didn't offer a hug; she gasped in horror because my muddy clothes were ruining her Italian marble. They didn't give me my old room back. Instead, they banished me to a moldy gardener’s shack and hired a "babysitter" to make sure I didn't embarrass them further. My sister, Kaleigh, stood there in white cashmere, pretending to cry while clinging to her fiancé, Ambrose—the man who had once been mine. They all treated me like a volatile junkie, refusing to acknowledge that Kaleigh was the one who planted the drugs in my bag three years ago. They wanted to believe I was broken so they wouldn't have to feel guilty about the "wellness retreat" that was actually a torture chamber. I sat in the dark of that shed, feeling the cooling gel on the cigarette burns that covered my arms, and realized they had made a fatal mistake. They thought they had erased me, but I had returned with a roadmap of scars and a hidden satellite phone. At dinner, I didn't beg for their love. I simply rolled up my sleeves and showed them the price of their silence. As the wine spilled and the lies crumbled, I sent a single text to the only person I trusted: "I'm in. Let them simmer." The hunt was finally on.

I was at my own engagement party at the Sterling estate when the world started tilting. Victoria Sterling, my future mother-in-law, smiled coldly as she watched me struggle with a cup of tea that had been drugged to ruin me. Before I could find my fiancé, Ryan, a waiter dragged me into the forbidden West Wing and locked me in a room with Julian Sterling, the family’s "fallen titan" who had been confined to a wheelchair for years. The door burst open to a frenzy of camera flashes and theatrical screams. Victoria framed me as a seductress caught in the act, and Ryan didn't even try to listen to my pleas, calling me "cheap leftovers" before walking away with his pregnant mistress. When I turned to my own family for help, my father signed a document severing our relationship for a five-million-dollar payout from Julian. They traded me like a commodity without a second thought. I didn't understand why my own parents were so eager to sell me, or how Ryan could look at me with such disgust after promising me forever. I was a sacrifice, a pawn used to protect the family's offshore accounts, and I couldn't fathom how every person I loved had a price tag for my destruction. With nowhere left to go, I married Julian in a bleak ceremony at City Hall. He slid a heavy diamond onto my finger and whispered, "We have a war to start." That night, inside his secret penthouse, I watched the paralyzed man stand up from his wheelchair and activate a screen filled with the Sterling family's darkest secrets. The execution had officially begun.

I went to the City Clerk’s office for a routine copy of my marriage license to finalize a trust fund audit. I expected a simple piece of paper, but the clerk’s pitying look told me my entire life was a lie. "The license was never finalized, Ms. Oliver. In the eyes of the state, you are single." The three-hundred-guest wedding at the Plaza and the Vogue features meant nothing. My husband, Gray Cooley, had intentionally filed the documents with a "procedural defect" so he could discard me without a legal divorce. Moments later, an iCloud invite titled "Our Little Secret" popped up on my screen. It was a photo of my best friend, Brylee, holding a positive pregnancy test at our Hamptons estate. Gray’s text to her was the final blow: "Happy anniversary, babe. This baby is the best gift. Once the trust unlocks today, we’re done with the charade." I soon discovered they were even stealing my career, reassigning my architectural masterpiece to Brylee while preparing my eviction notice. Gray's mother called me a "barren mule" in a leaked recording, mocking the infertility I suffered after saving Gray’s life in a construction accident. I wasn't a wife; I was a three-year placeholder used to secure his inheritance. How could the man I bled for treat me like a disposable prop? How could my best friend carry his child while pretending to comfort me through my darkest moments? The betrayal burned until it turned into a cold, hard stone of fury. I didn't cry. Instead, I walked into the penthouse of the Barretts, the Cooleys' most powerful rivals. I signed a marriage contract with Kane Barrett, the man the tabloids called the "Beast of Wall Street." "I want a wedding," I told his father, my voice steady and lethal. "Bigger than the one I had with Gray." If they wanted me gone, they would have to watch me become the woman who owns their world.

I lay paralyzed on stiff white sheets, a prisoner in my own skin, listening to the rain lash against the window like nails on a coffin. My father, Elmore Franco, didn't even look at my face as he checked his clipboard. He just listened to the steady, monotonous beep of the heart monitor-the only thing proving I was still alive. Without a hint of remorse, he pulled a pen from his pocket and signed the Do Not Resuscitate order. My stepmother, Ophelia, stepped out from behind him, wearing my favorite pearl necklace and smelling of cloying perfume. She leaned close to my ear to whisper the truth that turned my blood to ice. "It was the tea, darling. Just like your mother. A slow, tasteless poison." She chuckled as she revealed that my fiancé, Bryce, had a two-year-old son with my sister, Daniela. My inheritance had been funding their secret life for years, and now that the money was secure, I was an inconvenience they were finally scrubbing away. As my father yanked the power cord from the wall, the beeping died, and the darkness swallowed me whole. I was being murdered by my own flesh and blood, used as a bank account until I was no longer needed. I died in that sterile room, drowning in the realization that every person I ever loved was a monster who had been waiting for me to take my last breath. Then, I gasped. I woke up in a luxury hotel suite surrounded by silk sheets, five years in the past-the very morning of my wedding. Next to me lay Basile Delgado, the "Wolf of Wall Street" and my family's most dangerous enemy. In my first life, I ran from this room in a panic and lost everything. This time, I looked at the man who would eventually destroy my father's empire and decided to join him. "I'm not leaving, Basile. Marry me. Right now. Today."
