Sherry Ella was an orphanage child who was adopted by the Ella family when she was ten years old. Everyone thinks she is a beloved one. Instead, she has been suffering humiliation and torture from the Ella Family. A person with such experiences should be coward, world-weary, dark and heartless. However, Sherry still has a kind heart and an optimistic attitude toward life. In order to protect the guest who she doesn't know in her working hotel, she is willing to be bound by kidnappers, and even almost lost her lives. Maybe it is such kind of character that makes Allen Cook bear in mind constantly. His pride and prejudice all vanishes when he meets Sherry. For Allen, he has never been attracted by a woman except for Sherry. For Sherry, she never meets a man who protects her all the time except for Allen. Allen: "I want our relationship to be protected by law. So will you marry me?" Sherry: "Mr. Cook, I would like to spend the rest of my life with you."

Gem of Love Chapter 1 The Mysterious Woman of the Cook's

It was summer. The night encompassed the city gradually.

SenWell International Hotel in South City was a distinctive landmark building, which was a transparent glass building, where you can see the clouds from afar. The hotel was located in the central business district in South City. And the people who came to the hotel were celebrities in South City.

On the 13th floor of the hotel building, SenWell's biennial wine tasting took place.

This time, famous vineyards from the UK and Italy were also participating in the event, hoping to showcase the strengths of their respective wineries, and ultimately to secure a partnership with SenWell Hotel. By supplying the top SenWell Hotel with a wide range of expensive wines, they could gain mutual benefits and also implement the promotion of their respective brands.

Sherry Ella sat on a high chair in the lobby, who was wearing a black backless dress and a pair of nude stilettos with a ten-centimeter heel.

She cupped the rim of the glass with her white fingers, wobbling it slightly. The red wine then hit the wall of the glass. Her eyes were gorgeous. She was gazing at the red wine in her hand.

The black backless dress outlined her exquisite slender body; her soft long hair was casually made into a bun in the back of the head. Her face was gorgeous and extremely seductive. It would be hard to find another woman in the entire South City who was as gorgeous and flamboyant as her!

But Sherry didn't know that everyone in the room was watching her from time to time.

Men looked at her possessively like a hungry wolf, while women looked at her with jealousy, envy, and contempt.

Taking a sip of red wine, Sherry lost her appetite.

She took the shiny diamond handbag from the round table, got up, and headed for the bathroom in the gallery of the hotel.

"She is the sluttiest woman in South City. Shameless bitch!"

"Keep it down!"

"Am I wrong? Sherry Ella wants to have an affair with all the rich men in South City. She's a shameless bitch!"

"Well, she has a pretty face. All the men in the world would love to get under her skirt right away when they see her!"

Two women in gorgeous gowns entered the bathroom together, who were angry as they touched up their foundation in the mirror.

Sherry was sitting on the toilet seat in the bathroom stall. It looked like she didn't care about them.

Suddenly, the cellphone in her bag vibrated violently.

Running a thin index finger across the cellphone screen, she raised her thin eyebrows, "Mr. Green, why do you ask me to go to Scenery Garden this late?"

"Miss Ella, I've heard you're interested in that land at Prosperity Plaza. Is that true?"

Sherry's beautiful eyes darkened a bit as the person on the phone said, "Mr. Green, it'll take a few minutes to arrive. I'm on my way!"

"Don't hurry. I'll send someone to pick you up!"

"Mr. Green, thank you. But I have a car!"

The sound of Sherry answering the phone came from the cubicle, and the two women standing by the sink immediately froze.

"She's...in there?"

"Wouldn't what we just said..."

"Move, move, move!" They whispered conversations in their mouths, not daring to speak any louder. They hurriedly pushed open the bathroom door and fled out.

...

A black Bentley sedan was turning quickly around the corner on the wide street of South City, heading toward Flower Avenue ahead.

"Mr. Cook, that looks like Missy's car!" Jim Morrison, sitting in the driver's seat, glanced inadvertently at the open-air parking lot outside the SenWell Hotel.

A white Polo was quietly parked in the parking lot at the moment, which was very inconspicuous.

The only thing that was immediately recognizable and completely inconsistent with the Polo's price was the car's license plate number...QS8888. People in South City with a bit of status would know that this license plate number had once fetched a rare and high price of 2 million yuan in South City.

In the back seat of the Bentley sat two handsome and tall men.

"What Missy? "Armand King raised his handsome eyebrows.

"It's a secret." The indifferent man next to him replied softly as he scanned the white Polo indifferently, "A mysterious woman of the Cook's."

I sat on the edge of the examination table, the crinkle of the sanitary paper sounding like thunder in the sterile room. The doctor didn't even look at me as he confirmed the news: the pregnancy was over. My husband, Keyon, didn't answer my call. He just sent an automated text: "In a meeting." When I returned to our cold mansion, I found his iPad glowing with a message from his "muse," Katina. He was throwing her a secret gala tonight-on our third wedding anniversary. He told her he couldn't wait to escape the "boring" and "draining" atmosphere I created at home. Keyon didn't stumble in until 3 AM, smelling of Katina's perfume with a smear of red on his collar. When I handed him the divorce papers, he laughed in my face. He called me a "glorified housekeeper" with no skills and no future, promising I'd be back in three days begging for a subway ticket. He even bet his friends ten thousand dollars that I wouldn't survive a week without his name. He had his assistant cancel my credit cards and block my gate access before I even reached the end of the driveway. He wanted me to starve. He wanted me to crawl. He sat in his office, mocking the "desperate" woman who pawned her three-million-dollar wedding ring for scrap metal just to pay for a meal. I stood on the rainy curb, watching the man I had protected for three years treat my life like trash. He didn't know about the ultrasound I just threw in the bin. He didn't know that while he was calling me "dull," I was the one secretly writing the code that kept his billion-dollar empire from collapsing. As I slid into a cheap Uber, I opened a hidden, encrypted app on my phone. The screen refreshed to a dashboard for an account Keyon didn't know existed. The balance was ten figures long-the accumulated wealth of "Solaris," the world's most elusive tech genius. Keyon thinks he just evicted a parasite, but he's about to find out he just declared war on the only person who can hit "delete" on his entire life.

I was at my own engagement party at the Sterling estate when the world started tilting. Victoria Sterling, my future mother-in-law, smiled coldly as she watched me struggle with a cup of tea that had been drugged to ruin me. Before I could find my fiancé, Ryan, a waiter dragged me into the forbidden West Wing and locked me in a room with Julian Sterling, the family’s "fallen titan" who had been confined to a wheelchair for years. The door burst open to a frenzy of camera flashes and theatrical screams. Victoria framed me as a seductress caught in the act, and Ryan didn't even try to listen to my pleas, calling me "cheap leftovers" before walking away with his pregnant mistress. When I turned to my own family for help, my father signed a document severing our relationship for a five-million-dollar payout from Julian. They traded me like a commodity without a second thought. I didn't understand why my own parents were so eager to sell me, or how Ryan could look at me with such disgust after promising me forever. I was a sacrifice, a pawn used to protect the family's offshore accounts, and I couldn't fathom how every person I loved had a price tag for my destruction. With nowhere left to go, I married Julian in a bleak ceremony at City Hall. He slid a heavy diamond onto my finger and whispered, "We have a war to start." That night, inside his secret penthouse, I watched the paralyzed man stand up from his wheelchair and activate a screen filled with the Sterling family's darkest secrets. The execution had officially begun.

I stood at my mother’s open grave in the freezing rain, my heels sinking into the mud. The space beside me was empty. My husband, Hilliard Holloway, had promised to cherish me in bad times, but apparently, burying my mother didn't fit into his busy schedule. While the priest’s voice droned on, a news alert lit up my phone. It was a livestream of the Metropolitan Charity Gala. There was Hilliard, looking impeccable in a custom tuxedo, with his ex-girlfriend Charla English draped over his arm. The headline read: "Holloway & English: A Power Couple Reunited?" When he finally returned to our penthouse at 2 AM, he didn't come alone—he brought Charla with him. He claimed she’d had a "medical emergency" at the gala and couldn't be left alone. I found a Tiffany diamond necklace on our coffee table meant for her birthday, and a smudge of her signature red lipstick on his collar. When I confronted him, he simply told me to stop being "hysterical" and "acting like a child." He had no idea I was seven months pregnant with his child. He thought so little of my grief that he didn't even bother to craft a convincing lie, laughing with his mistress in our home while I sat in the dark with a shattered heart and a secret life growing inside me. "He doesn't deserve us," I whispered to the darkness. I didn't scream or beg. I simply left a folder on his desk containing signed divorce papers and a forged medical report for a terminated pregnancy. I disappeared into the night, letting him believe he had successfully killed his own legacy through his neglect. Five years later, Hilliard walked into "The Vault," the city's most exclusive underground auction, looking for a broker to manage his estate. He didn't recognize me behind my Venetian mask, but he couldn't ignore the neon pink graffiti on his armored Maybach that read "DEADBEAT." He had no clue that the three brilliant triplets currently hacking his security system were the very children he thought had been erased years ago. This time, I wasn't just a wife in the way; I was the one holding all the cards.

The sterile white of the operating room blurred, then sharpened, as Skye Sterling felt the cold clawing its way up her body. The heart monitor flatlined, a steady, high-pitched whine announcing her end. Her uterus had been removed, a desperate attempt to stop the bleeding, but the blood wouldn't clot. It just kept flowing, warm and sticky, pooling beneath her. Through heavy eyes, she saw a trembling nurse holding a phone on speaker. "Mr. Kensington," the nurse's voice cracked, "your wife... she's critical." A pause, then a sweet, poisonous giggle. Seraphina Miller. "Liam is in the shower," Seraphina's voice purred. "Stop calling, Skye. It's pathetic. Faking a medical emergency on our anniversary? Even for you, that's low." Then, Liam's bored voice: "If she dies, call the funeral home. I have a meeting in the morning." Click. The line went dead. A second later, so did Skye. The darkness that followed was absolute, suffocating, a black ocean crushing her lungs. She screamed into the void, a silent, agonizing wail of regret for loving a man who saw her as a nuisance, for dying without ever truly living. Until she died, she didn't understand. Why was her life so tragically wasted? Why did her husband, the man she loved, abandon her so cruelly? The injustice of it all burned hotter than the fever in her body. Then, the air rushed back in. Skye gasped, her body convulsing violently on the mattress. Her eyes flew open, wide and terrified, staring blindly into the darkness. Her trembling hand reached for her phone. May 12th. Five years ago. She was back.
