Vekra
Glasses clink against each other.
“To Marina!” My friends and I yell at the top of our lungs. We are young, wanton and completely oblivious that our lives will soon be turned upside down.
We down the shots in one go and it burns all the way down.
“I’m wasted.” Marina says with a giggle, staggering and I catch her.
“Get your shit together babygirl! The night is just beginning.” I say and pour her and Alec another shot of Vodken.
My favourite music comes on and I start gyrating to the beat.
“I want to get laid tonight.” Alec says and I snicker.
“You want to get laid all the time.”
“Hard to debate fact.” She says and downs the shot, moving to the music with me.
“Stop.” Marina staggers forward. “I have a good one, and it’s for you Vekra.” She says with a wiggle of her brows.
I groan. “Oh no.”
“Hell yes.” She says with a wicked grin. Tonight, she’s the boss. It’s her reward for going through her Shifting and becoming a full wolf. The last time was Alec and she dared us to do unthinkable things that I still cringe to remember. I’m the only one that hasn’t gone through my Shifting yet, a late bloomer as always.
I straighten. “Get it over with.”
Alec is far more wicked than Marina is so I have my fingers crossed.
“Give us some moves with pole.” She squeals excitedly.
“That’s it?” I say with a smirk.
Alec groans. “Marina, why are you going easy on her?”
“Not everyone has wicked blood like you Alec.” I say and she sticks out her tongue at me. “This is going to be an easy one.”
Last year, I became obsessed with how the body moves with the pole. I learned to twist and curl around it, to crook an ankle and have males drooling, to make them wish they were the pole gripped between my thighs. And I did it all with a mask. What would people say if they heard that Alpha Din’s only daughter was in the bowels of a questionable house entertaining men? My father is not popularly known by Folkland as The Saint for no reason.
This will be my first show without a mask, I think with excitement. The night feels dangerous and filled with possibilities.
“Go on.” Alec says and folds her hands in front of her.
I sashay forward a step and then he comes in.
The entire room freezes and everyone turns to the door where new power just entered the room.
He looks the room over with a hard face, a killer’s face and my heart hammers against my chest loudly. He is so powerful! An alpha no doubt.
His aura expands to fill the room, like a roaring animal, deadly and so fucking commanding no one can look away. Within this room and out, I have never met anyone that packs as much sheer power as this alpha before me.
“Bloody hell!” Alec whispers furiously behind me.
My breath punches out of my chest. I didn’t know I was holding it. I sniff at the air delicately, my primitive nose picking up the most delicious scent I’ve ever smelled. It’s coming from him.
Suddenly, his eyes fixes on me from across the room and I gasp and take a step back. Looking into those soulless eyes is like staring death itself in its eyes and yet... my body shocks me by the scent of my desire in the air. I want to do wicked things with this man while those eyes watch me.
Two more men follow him into the club and he looks away and moves with them towards a table. The entire room relaxes collectively, and people continue stealing uneasy glances at him while Alec grabs my arm.
“Oh goddess do you know who just walked in here?” She whispers furiously.
“I have no idea who but I know I never want to cross him.” Marina says nervously. “Maybe we should leave.”
She is right, with them here, the room suddenly feels dangerous, explosive. But the last thing I want to do is leave.
“Who is he?” I grab Alec’s arm.
“Those two men that came in after him are for sure from the Red Moon pack. I would bet my left arm that was the alpha of Red Moon pack.” She whispers.
Marina gasps and I gape.
“Red Moon?” I whisper, awed.
Everyone knows of the Red Moon pack, the most powerful pack in all of Folkland. But not much is known of the alpha, nothing but the horrible whispers in the dead of night.
Alpha Zaden is the alpha that nearly went rogue many years ago, when his power nearly sent him to madness. His mother was killed by a cult of the most powerful Folk, to keep a deadly secret and he nearly tasted madness in his thirst for vengeance. The most powerful of the Folk; werewolves and vampires, sorcerers and witches, moved to stop his annihilation but not a single one could stop the deadly killing machine that he was, not until the last member of the cult lay dead at his feet, along with their families.
“Goddess. Yeah we should leave. We don’t want trouble.” Marina says, immediately sober.
The club is quickly emptying out, males and females sneaking out before they catch his attention.
“No.” I say, searching for him in the club. I find his eyes on me from the depths of the club and my breath seizes with an insane combination of fear and desire. I’ve always had one toxic trait, I can’t stay away from my thrills.
Alec grabs my arm and shakes me.
“Not this time Vekra. Marina is right, that male is trouble.” She says. I’m surprised even she is backing down.
I snatch my arm back. “Why should we leave? I’ve not even danced yet.” I say with a smile. “Watch me, sweethearts.”
Before they can say another word, I sashay away, signalling the DJ as I grip the pole.
