When CEOs Meet Chapter 1 The Beginning

Slamming the file in my hand I groan out loud in frustration, what exactly do I have to do before this people get the memo

The fact I haven't constantly been on their trail doesn't mean am disinterested or the fact that am a female makes them think am too easy

I scoff within myself, I will show them that no one messes with Zara Jiselle Beckett and goes scot free

"What did they say again??" I ask Devan my assistant whose head is currently bent, not wanting to be the at the receiving end of my anger

"We should come for a second review Jiselle" he said

Taking a deep breath I drew my chair closer and sat on it thinking hard on how to get them to sign.

A second review is what I don't have time for, for whatever reason sake. I do not have time for that right now

I need that space within a month so what in actual living daylights is all this second meeting and review

As the CEO of Beckett B&G empire am entitled to as much as seeing to the opening of our new hotel

As much as I do not want to be in this business, I do not have a choice as my father Mr. Gianni Beckett who has been running this company recently got himself in a sickly position and I have to take over

Been in this business for almost 2 years before the official takeover I know exactly how this thing work

Alot of people think been 25 and a female CEO means I have not nothing else to offer but my body

But then I have remarkable proven to them that I am more than they think me to be time without number

For Mr. Adams to ask for a second review means his asking for trouble and he knows it

Facing Devian whose face is still on the ground I said

"Make sure you gather every freaking information on Mr. Adams, am going to go through this in a way he doesn't expect me to"

He nodded bowed and left the office

Closing my eyes I took a deep breath trying not to clench my teeth.

The Hotel and suits industry still didn't get the memo did they? They seriously think i'm going to sit down and be one of those minions that know nothing

They've got another thing coming then.

My phone rang and I opened my eyes instantly, staring at it. My father splashed on the screen and I took a deep breath before answering

"Hello father"

"What is this, am I hearing Jiselle?" really holy cow. Standing up from my seat I started pacing around. I might as well be up and doing if am going to get a piece from father

"It's nothing we can't handle" I assured him

"Of course I know you can handle it but do you think the other competitors will let this slide? Second review takes months Jiselle and you know it, sort this out" he said in a stern voice that always made me flinch as a child

Well even right now I just flinch so the effects are still there

I bowed my head slowly trying not to ram it into something

"Sure I will" I said with a grunted voice

"I know you will" he ended the call like we just didn't start talking

It is always business, always has been as soon as I was able to walk my life has been decided for me

Not wanting to reminisce on all the things I hate thinking about I went back to my seat picking up the file and examining it

The proposal we had set up is one of the best I have been told. Then why the hell is this taking forever to get reviewed

Rolling the sleeve of my shirt up I picked up a pen and cross out the words that shouldn't be used in the presentation

Who the actual hell wrote this anyways, after minutes I am seeing so many errors. I do not pay this minions to write me a proposal with stupid errors

Picking up the landline I called my secretary

"Get yo ass here right now" I drop the phone back

The door to my office open and he scooted inside

"You called" he said

Still sitting I flung the paper to him with anger filling me to the brim

He bent picking it up

"Who for the love of Christ wrote that? And who the heck approved that?" I ask him knowing he had approved it himself

"This was written by umm..... The development team Jiselle and I reviewed it myself"

I hate lashing out to anyone, especially to him. Trying to calm myself down I look at him

"Take that thing away from here then make sure you note where all the errors are, meanwhile what are the remaining of my schedule for the day"

"You have a meeting with the Arts center for the commissioning of some of their artifacts in the second B&G building and that is in 30 minutes"

Noting that I sent him away. Been here and been in the kind of business that I am in, there is no room for mistake as you can easily get crushed out as there are so many competitors

Getting ready for my meeting I took everything that was needed for it and headed out

As I and Devan passed through the other block to get down to the parking lot everywhere was silent.

I know a lot of them call me evil witch or whatever they deem it fit to be called an insult

I need to get my head up high if I still want to be here, no sentiment about my gender as I have been trained to be nothing but strong and ruthless

There are so many weaknesses that can be bestowed upon someone who has no time for all that keeps my head in the game.

I only need one thing right now, to get the freaking Adams Company

I stood at my mother’s open grave in the freezing rain, my heels sinking into the mud. The space beside me was empty. My husband, Hilliard Holloway, had promised to cherish me in bad times, but apparently, burying my mother didn't fit into his busy schedule. While the priest’s voice droned on, a news alert lit up my phone. It was a livestream of the Metropolitan Charity Gala. There was Hilliard, looking impeccable in a custom tuxedo, with his ex-girlfriend Charla English draped over his arm. The headline read: "Holloway & English: A Power Couple Reunited?" When he finally returned to our penthouse at 2 AM, he didn't come alone—he brought Charla with him. He claimed she’d had a "medical emergency" at the gala and couldn't be left alone. I found a Tiffany diamond necklace on our coffee table meant for her birthday, and a smudge of her signature red lipstick on his collar. When I confronted him, he simply told me to stop being "hysterical" and "acting like a child." He had no idea I was seven months pregnant with his child. He thought so little of my grief that he didn't even bother to craft a convincing lie, laughing with his mistress in our home while I sat in the dark with a shattered heart and a secret life growing inside me. "He doesn't deserve us," I whispered to the darkness. I didn't scream or beg. I simply left a folder on his desk containing signed divorce papers and a forged medical report for a terminated pregnancy. I disappeared into the night, letting him believe he had successfully killed his own legacy through his neglect. Five years later, Hilliard walked into "The Vault," the city's most exclusive underground auction, looking for a broker to manage his estate. He didn't recognize me behind my Venetian mask, but he couldn't ignore the neon pink graffiti on his armored Maybach that read "DEADBEAT." He had no clue that the three brilliant triplets currently hacking his security system were the very children he thought had been erased years ago. This time, I wasn't just a wife in the way; I was the one holding all the cards.

I went to the City Clerk’s office for a routine copy of my marriage license to finalize a trust fund audit. I expected a simple piece of paper, but the clerk’s pitying look told me my entire life was a lie. "The license was never finalized, Ms. Oliver. In the eyes of the state, you are single." The three-hundred-guest wedding at the Plaza and the Vogue features meant nothing. My husband, Gray Cooley, had intentionally filed the documents with a "procedural defect" so he could discard me without a legal divorce. Moments later, an iCloud invite titled "Our Little Secret" popped up on my screen. It was a photo of my best friend, Brylee, holding a positive pregnancy test at our Hamptons estate. Gray’s text to her was the final blow: "Happy anniversary, babe. This baby is the best gift. Once the trust unlocks today, we’re done with the charade." I soon discovered they were even stealing my career, reassigning my architectural masterpiece to Brylee while preparing my eviction notice. Gray's mother called me a "barren mule" in a leaked recording, mocking the infertility I suffered after saving Gray’s life in a construction accident. I wasn't a wife; I was a three-year placeholder used to secure his inheritance. How could the man I bled for treat me like a disposable prop? How could my best friend carry his child while pretending to comfort me through my darkest moments? The betrayal burned until it turned into a cold, hard stone of fury. I didn't cry. Instead, I walked into the penthouse of the Barretts, the Cooleys' most powerful rivals. I signed a marriage contract with Kane Barrett, the man the tabloids called the "Beast of Wall Street." "I want a wedding," I told his father, my voice steady and lethal. "Bigger than the one I had with Gray." If they wanted me gone, they would have to watch me become the woman who owns their world.

The heavy thud of the release stamp was the only goodbye I got from the warden after five years in federal prison. I stepped out into the blinding sun, expecting the same flash of paparazzi bulbs that had seen me dragged away in handcuffs, but there was only a single black limousine idling on the shoulder of the road. Inside sat my mother and sister, clutching champagne and looking at my frayed coat with pure disgust. They didn't offer a welcome home; instead, they tossed a thick legal document onto the table and told me I was dead to the city. "Gavin and I are getting engaged," my sister Mia sneered, flicking a credit card at me like I was a stray dog. "He doesn't need a convict ex-fiancée hanging around." Even after I saved their lives from an armed kidnapping attempt by ramming the attackers off the road, they rewarded me by leaving me stranded in the dirt. When I finally ran into Gavin, the man who had framed me, he pinned me against a wall and threatened to send me back to a cell if I ever dared to show my face at their wedding. They had stolen my biotech research, ruined my name, and let me rot for half a decade while they lived off my brilliance. They thought they had broken me, leaving me with nothing but an expired chapstick and a few old photos in a plastic bag. What they didn't know was that I had spent those five years becoming "Dr. X," a shadow consultant with five hundred million dollars in crypto and a secret that would bring the city to its knees. I wasn't just a victim anymore; I was a weapon, and I was pregnant with the heir they thought they had erased. I walked into the Melton estate and made an offer to the most powerful man in New York. "I'll save your grandfather's life," I told Horatio Melton, staring him down. "But the price is your last name. I'm taking back what's mine, and I'm starting with the man who thinks he's marrying my sister."
