His Broken Sigma Mate Chapter 1 Introduction

I was certain nothing else was making the whole of my body trembling this way except for one thing called fear.

My eyes were empty of other emotions except for FEAR, it was filled with so much panic.

The kind of fear that makes your skin crawl, the kind of fear that makes your bones shake..

I straddled behind an oak tree, panting extremely hard. Eyes darting everywhere in the premises to confirm the people I was running away from were still behind me. Or maybe I had finally escaped from them.

I was sobbing lowly, and every sound of my voice could be heard because of the heavy wind, so I pressed my palms against my mouth.

But I couldn't stop myself from crying, I pressed my hands so hard against her mouth when I noticed some sounds trying to leak out. please where is Jessica, she cannot die please..

" Where is the girl?" a man with a little broad shoulder sneered, his eyes scanning everywhere in the wood. god, I heard and smelled the anger in his voice, I felt like I wanted to immediately pee on my pants.

" I don't know where she is hiding , Boss." another man behind the first one said.

" And you have the gut to say it, find her!" he yelled out.

There were less than six men and certainly five men chasing me.

" Spread out and look for her!" a voice lashed out.

I was seeing all of them, I dug myself deep other the tree. Lowly crying, I wasn't just crying because I was being chased. What I saw happened in front of me, breaks my whole soul. I couldn't bring myself to stop crying..

None of the men where suddenly around maybe they had ran to a different direction to find me, I began running out, I have to look for Jessica..

I went deep into the snow, running , holding branches of trees for support..

"Where the heck do you think you are going to, girl?" dang, chills ran down my spine. The weather was bloody cold but when I heard the voice, sweat dotted on my forehead immediately..

" Pleas..." one grabbed me from behind, landing a tight slap on my face. My head and shoulder twist at the unexpected slap on my cheek. A pain shooting up on my shoulder as they gripped me.

" You foolish girl! Do you think you can hide from us?" he grinned.

"Please let me go, I beg you.." hot tears trickling down on my cheek.

" Boss , what do you think we should do to her? " a man asked.

" We will take her back to the pack. Then a punishment would be decided for her." he ordered. My terrified eyes widened to the extreme. NO! I can't go back to the pack, I can't go please..

'' No, I'm not going! Don't take me there please!" I began begging, tears streaming down on my cheek. The whole of my hair was messy, everything about me was completely messy at this point.

" You don't tell us what to do. Bring her!" the man ordered. They began dragging me, I was struggling with the little strength that I had. No I cannot go back there no way!

Strangely, someone jumped out of the forest from a tree, precisely. Because of the gloom I couldn't see his face but I could tell his shoulder was very broad and his voice was very thick and deep.

I suddenly trembled when his aura filled my senses, the tension I had suddenly doubled. I was more terrified of the man who came out from the tree, than these men... His aura and the way he spoke was intimidating.

" Let her go." he said a little calmly.

The man holding me tightly on his grasp, shrugged. " Who are you to give us such orders?"

" Let her go right now!" he yelled, and I gasped.

" Or Wh-"

" Holy Shit!!!" I screamed, before the guy completed his question the strange man slit his damn throat immediately. No! I was scared than ever now...

" Run!!" the other men letting go of me as they ran for their lives. They dropped me roughly on the ground. I began crawling back slowly away from the man in front of me... oh shit I was cursing under my heavy breathe.

The heavy thud of the release stamp was the only goodbye I got from the warden after five years in federal prison. I stepped out into the blinding sun, expecting the same flash of paparazzi bulbs that had seen me dragged away in handcuffs, but there was only a single black limousine idling on the shoulder of the road. Inside sat my mother and sister, clutching champagne and looking at my frayed coat with pure disgust. They didn't offer a welcome home; instead, they tossed a thick legal document onto the table and told me I was dead to the city. "Gavin and I are getting engaged," my sister Mia sneered, flicking a credit card at me like I was a stray dog. "He doesn't need a convict ex-fiancée hanging around." Even after I saved their lives from an armed kidnapping attempt by ramming the attackers off the road, they rewarded me by leaving me stranded in the dirt. When I finally ran into Gavin, the man who had framed me, he pinned me against a wall and threatened to send me back to a cell if I ever dared to show my face at their wedding. They had stolen my biotech research, ruined my name, and let me rot for half a decade while they lived off my brilliance. They thought they had broken me, leaving me with nothing but an expired chapstick and a few old photos in a plastic bag. What they didn't know was that I had spent those five years becoming "Dr. X," a shadow consultant with five hundred million dollars in crypto and a secret that would bring the city to its knees. I wasn't just a victim anymore; I was a weapon, and I was pregnant with the heir they thought they had erased. I walked into the Melton estate and made an offer to the most powerful man in New York. "I'll save your grandfather's life," I told Horatio Melton, staring him down. "But the price is your last name. I'm taking back what's mine, and I'm starting with the man who thinks he's marrying my sister."

The rain in Detroit was slick with grime when my family finally came to fetch me. They didn't want a reunion; they wanted a sacrificial lamb to marry into the Kaufman empire to save their failing business. I thought I was just being sold off, but the limo ride ended under a dark overpass where six hired thugs were waiting with chains. My own sister had ordered them to "break my spirit" so I’d be a shaking, pathetic mess by the time I reached the altar. They called me "Detroit trash" and sprayed air freshener when I sat on their leather seats. My stepmother wanted a video of me begging for my life, and my father was ready to trade me like a used car to a man everyone called a "vegetable." They expected a submissive country girl, unaware that I was a high-level "cleaner" who could snap a radius bone before they could even scream. When I finally reached the Kaufman estate, I found my fiancé, Barron, slumped in a wheelchair, drooling and silent. But as soon as the doors closed, the "invalid" grabbed my wrist with a grip of iron and whispered a command that changed everything. I didn't understand why my own blood was so desperate to see me destroyed. What had I ever done to deserve a hit squad and a forced marriage to a man they thought was a corpse? But Barron isn't a vegetable, and I'm not a victim. We just touched down at the Moon family gala in a matte-black helicopter, and as the doors slide open, the "broken" bride is about to show them exactly what happens when you throw away the wrong daughter. "If we're going to crash a party," Barron whispered, his eyes burning with lethal clarity, "we should make an entrance."

I went to the City Clerk’s office for a routine copy of my marriage license to finalize a trust fund audit. I expected a simple piece of paper, but the clerk’s pitying look told me my entire life was a lie. "The license was never finalized, Ms. Oliver. In the eyes of the state, you are single." The three-hundred-guest wedding at the Plaza and the Vogue features meant nothing. My husband, Gray Cooley, had intentionally filed the documents with a "procedural defect" so he could discard me without a legal divorce. Moments later, an iCloud invite titled "Our Little Secret" popped up on my screen. It was a photo of my best friend, Brylee, holding a positive pregnancy test at our Hamptons estate. Gray’s text to her was the final blow: "Happy anniversary, babe. This baby is the best gift. Once the trust unlocks today, we’re done with the charade." I soon discovered they were even stealing my career, reassigning my architectural masterpiece to Brylee while preparing my eviction notice. Gray's mother called me a "barren mule" in a leaked recording, mocking the infertility I suffered after saving Gray’s life in a construction accident. I wasn't a wife; I was a three-year placeholder used to secure his inheritance. How could the man I bled for treat me like a disposable prop? How could my best friend carry his child while pretending to comfort me through my darkest moments? The betrayal burned until it turned into a cold, hard stone of fury. I didn't cry. Instead, I walked into the penthouse of the Barretts, the Cooleys' most powerful rivals. I signed a marriage contract with Kane Barrett, the man the tabloids called the "Beast of Wall Street." "I want a wedding," I told his father, my voice steady and lethal. "Bigger than the one I had with Gray." If they wanted me gone, they would have to watch me become the woman who owns their world.
