"My lady, your hair is just so lovely" one of Emily's lady-in-waiting commented. Emily Garheé, the daughter of the lowly but popular Baron Garheé. The Baron became popular because people found a deep interest in him because of his humble nature and was able to be gifted one of the many daughters of the king in his time, and that was Emily's mother, who died due to an illness, not too long after childbirth.
Her mother was one of the loveliest women in her days, having long golden hair and beautiful blue eyes, Emily was the spitting image of her mother except that she had golden eyes, which her father always told her were from her grandmother. Baron Garheé had brown hair although it was now mixed with some grey with dark eyes, he wasn't exceptionally handsome but he had a charming character.
"Emily, father is calling for you" Natasha, Emily's half-sister the daughter of Lady Natalia, Emily's stepmother and Baron Garheé's second wife after Emily's mother had called to her.
All the servants present at Emily's chamber were displeased by her presence. Natasha was younger than Emily by two years she was seventeen years of age, she had red hair with dark blue eyes and her mother also had red hair but had brown eyes instead, Natasha took nothing after her father, and word went out between the servants that she was not the child of the Baron.
The Baron despite being a lowly noble was also a businessman and even though he didn't have a high rank in nobility he was still wealthy and always had to go on trips and decided that he would have to be married and married Natalia who was a waitress at a local bar.
The present baroness was rude to the servants but didn't do anything to offend lady Emily, but also did not show any maternal concern towards her, so marrying her was somewhat a waste. But not once did Emily ever show any concerns.
She was still very young at the time her father decided to get remarried so she had gotten used to not seeing her and living with the companion of her head maid madame Lucinda, who was her mother's lady-in-waiting.
As time began to pass Emily had convinced herself that her father was feeling lonely and needed another.
"But for what reason" Emily responded to Natasha to ease the tension between her and The maids.
"He didn't say" Natasha replied walking out.
"I see vipers everywhere" one of the maids spoke.
Natasha was even worse than her mother, she was too rude to the servants and had a terrible character.
Emily had known about Natasha's rude behavior but decided to overlook it. Emily just assumed that maybe her reason for being rude to her was because she was fairly smaller than Natasha, and Natasha had a very good height and burst, Emily wasn't short but compared to Natasha she would look like a small child because she wasn't blessed with burst either.
Emily was now headed to her father's study and noticed that Natasha was following her.
"Is Father calling for you too?"
"No just want to ask some questions"
"Like what?"
"Well Lord George's ball is near, how does it feel knowing that you will soon be married".
George Malyah was Emily's soon-to-be husband, they were to be wed in 3 months from now.
"I haven't thought of such things".
If Emily were, to be honest, she didn't have much interest in George, she hadn't seen him all that much, she was mostly indoors. The only time she had to socialize was when the other nobles would want to see the daughter of baron Garheé and beautiful Elizabeth and use their children as an excuse to see her. But in all Truth, she preferred to be indoors reading a book or two.
"Are you serious right now, you are about to be the viscountess of souveth, how could you not think about it"?
"Those things do not seem to interest me". They were already in front of the Baron's study, and Emily went in alone.
"Yes father, you called".
"Oh, my love I have unforeseen places to be so I might not be having dinner with you".
"Ok" Emily replied.
"And lord George requested to see you so he plans to see you today, I kept on forgetting to tell you, I'm sorry".
"It's ok father, I shall see him when he comes".
"Ok my love", the Baron said giving her a peck on the forehead.
later on ...
It wasn't long after the Baron had left, that George came to visit his bride. It has been up to an hour since his arrival.
George was tall but a slender Man and had meek and trusting eyes, he had long brown hair with brown eyes he was fairly handsome. But he never seemed to catch the eye of the lady.
But to the lady, marriage had always seemed to be like a compulsory thing that a woman must accomplish. Madam Lucinda always told her that women were always expected to be married before clocking 21 years of age so that they don't look like spinsters or too old for marriage so Emily had no right to complain about it.
"How has your preparation been to become my wife"
"Nothing really, I've mostly been reading books but my ladies in waiting have decided to bring in a seamstress by next month".
