After a failed marriage with her husband, Alissa's world became anything but safe for her. She was in danger and she needed to be safe. She needed a new bodyguard. After seven years, it seemed to be the perfect time for her ex lover to make his grand entry. She couldn't deny the security service served on her plate. Not even the danger she was in will stand as an obstacle for a steamy romance yet to play out.

Chapter 1 PROLOGUE

■June 16th, 2019.

"You've got a meeting scheduled by 2pm, Issa." Ava informs as Alissa drops her phone into her bag.

"Cancel it or shift it.

I've got an important meeting with dad in thirty minutes time."

"Do you need me to go with you?" She asked, adjusting the file on her arm.

"No, I'm good." Issa stands upright. "Please tell the driver to get the car ready. I'll be out to leave soon."

"Ok. I'll do that." With that, Ava walked out of the office.

Issa gathered her things and made some touches on her appearance before walking out of the building to her car directly at the entrance, where her driver was waiting. She got in and the driver drove off to her father's company.

Issa checked her wrist watch for the time as she got down from her car into the large building. Greetings come from different directions as she gracefully walked past the workers to the elevator.

"The meeting is about to begin." Her father's young brunette secretary, Sarah, informed Issa as she approached the door. Issa nods and walk in.

Round her father's table sat her father, Mr. Helbert and his son, Richmond. They turn to look at me as the door shut closed behind me.

"Sorry, I'm late." Not really late, but I'll rather just apologize.

"We were just about to begin." My father says. "Sit." He points at the empty sit at the corner opposite him, next to Mr. Helbert and his son.

"Nice meeting you." I say to them. Trying not to make the room feel tensed and awkward.

I already know why I'm here. Dad has talked to me about the basis of meeting and I have no complaints regarding it, just as long as it's profitable to the businesses we run.

Dad starts up the meeting and says alot of things which for me is unnecessary. Not like in a general sense though, I mean, personally.

"I'd really love the wedding to be done as soon as possible." Mr. Helbert suggests.

"If that's the case, then I don't mind start making preparations."

The discussion was done mainly by my dad and Mr. Helbert. I said nothing. Richmond said nothing. Well, except questions are being directed our way.

"They should sign the contract without wasting much time."

"Yes." My dad passes the file to Mr. Helbert so he could read through the content. Mr. Helbert nods as he reads, clearly impressed by the content therein. He passes it to me and I grab a pen from the table to sign. Then Richmond does the same.

"Congratulations." My dad and Mr. Helbert say at the same time. They laugh and shake hands across the table.

"We'll be families soon." My dad says.

"For just a year." I murmur then look up and smile at the happy faces.

"Hey." I look up at Richmond, standing beside me.

"Hey." I say, weirdly. We've never really talked so can I say I'm shy?

"Congratulations."

"Congratulations." I smile at him.

He opens his hand for a hug. I widen my eyes before I stand to embrace him. Wow.

I pull away and look at him. He looks back at me for a short while then steps back for his dad to make his way out.

Richmond looks nice. Just have a calm appearance. I doubt he'll make a bad husband. Who knows, our wedding might actually work out.

Anyways, it takes two to make it work right?
