They said death only offers two things: heaven or hell. But for Kana Matthews, it was a new life as the Grand Duke's daughter in another world. The thing is she's not a human anymore because as soon as she wakes up, she finds dog ears on top of her head and a tail she was never supposed to have. How is she going to live and accept her fate when a familiar face suddenly claims to be her mate? When the Crown Prince reminds her of a love she rejected in her past life and her knight bestfriend reminds her of a love that could have been? Kana is caught between people who reminds her of nothing but the regrets she had in her whole human life. With the help of three hot older brothers, will she be able to keep her promise or will she ruin her new life with the same mistakes that made her death as a human so utterly bitter?

Chapter 1 The Ears, The Tail, and The Birthday

Heavy.

Her eyes felt like they weighed a ton each as she tried to lift them. Her long dark lashes have been quivering gently for a while now. Kana Matthews has just been struck with a deep sleep.

No.

Actually, Kana Matthews had died. For how long, however, is something she didn't have a grasp on. But she is sure that she died.

It was her eightieth birthday and she had just been out of the hospital. She opened the door of her glass house and found the place devoid of life. Then again, she had been living alone most of her life. So, what did she expect?

"Kana!" A man suddenly piped behind her and she swore she almost had another heart attack, "Why didn't you wait for me before you discharged yourself out of the hospital? I told you to wait for me, didn't I? For fuck's sake, woman, why are you so stubborn?"

Johan Million stepped in front of her. The warm sun illuminated the lines on his face and the wrinkles on his skin. Kana glanced at the cane he had with him and smiled, "I still can get home on my own, you know."

"You just had surgery! How can you be so careless? What made you think you can drive yourself in your condition? What if you got into an accident while driving?"

"How can you shout at me when I'm still weak and frail?" Kana wrapped her hand around her other arm and posed so innocently.

Johan took his lip under his teeth and bit hard at the sight, his chest thrashing again. He walked closer to her and held his bestfriend's hand.

"I'm sorry, I just.. didn't want you to strain your body. We're not so young anymore. We're eighty. It wouldn't hurt for you to depend on me a bit more."

Kana chuckled softly, "You're right, we're old. We're almost at death's door step. Hell, I can even see the reaper in my sleep, and that's exactly why I want move around as much as I can."

Johan gritted his teeth, a cloud of sadness apparent in his eyes, "Don't say that."

Kana laughed at him. He looked scared as she was, but the pins and needles on her body just won't stop. And she knew. Her time was near.

That night, Kana Matthews died.

She remembers it like it was just yesterday. But then, Kana felt as if she had been sleeping for a long time. So long her body seemed to be weak and light.

Finally, after an excruciating effort to force them open, she is able to lift her eyes. And what welcomed her is a blur.

But somehow, she can make out the place. It's sparkling and bright and ultimately dazzling. At that moment, she wonders, "Am I in heaven?" Everything seemed to be gold and white and sculpted. She must be in heaven, right?

Slowly, her vision is clearing.

Kana is staring right into the ceiling. An extravagant ceiling of porcelain with gold design. It's practically different from the ones she had at home and the one in the hospital. She tries moving her hand and a silky soft texture grazes it.

A bed. She is lying on a bed. But even her deathbed wasn't that soft. She pulls her hand and poises it in front of her face.

Huh?

It's smaller than she remembered. No, it's far smaller! Like the hand of a child! She suddenly sits up and when her eyes dropped on her legs, they widened.

Her legs are also short! And what is she wearing? A lace dress? With white stockings?

'WHAT THE HELL?' She thought. She is not a child!

Right then, something scraped against the bed as a shiver embraced her body. There was something. Something poking out of her butt. She could feel her bottom tingle as if she is carrying something long.

"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH!!" She screams her lungs out, her hands covering her face out of fear. She's a child and a boy and has a snake protruding out of her butt! 'AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH!!!!!'

A monster! She became a monster!

"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!"

After a while, silence filled the air.

'W-W-What the hell?' She thought again, slowly creating spaces in between her fingers. She looks at her legs a second time. It's clearly a skirt.

She detaches her right hand out of her face and is quivering as she slowly gets her hand close to her skirt. Like lightning, she lifts it up and pulls her stocking!

Her chest seemed to stop beating for a time and her eyes froze at her center. She hoped it's there. She wished hard it's still there. And when her eyes finally fell at the spot, she sees a pink lace.

She gently fixes her stocking and skirt, her face drowned in ash.

'IT'S THERE!' She yells inside, her eyes full of rain. She is still a girl. Thank goodness. She breathes a sigh of relief and is calm again.

She clearly has a clam.

So, why the hell does she have something long sticking out of her butt?!

Just the thought of it is making her aggressively tremble.

Her eyes swept across the room. It's large and magnificent, filled with expensive looking furniture with only white and gold colors. It looked like she was in a bedroom straight out of a comic book.

As she is inspecting the place, a glint catches her eye. She turns to her side but somehow, she is moving slowly. Maybe it was how her heart was throbbing so hard that her neck feared it wouldn't take the sudden shock.

She turns to the mirror and stares at herself.

She could her birds chirp and although it seemed to be daytime, crickets are humming.

.

.

.

"WHAT KIND OF HELL IS THIS?????!!!!!!!!!!! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!"

Kana jumps out of the bed and dives into the wide mirror, her small body pushing it to the floor. With this, she is face to face with her reflection.

She is a girl, all right.

She is a child.

But what in God's name are the black ears standing on top of her head?! What in the world is that long black thing sticking out of her butt?!

WHY DOES SHE HAVE DOG EARS AND A TAIL?!

"Lucien, let's get a divorce," I said in a peremptory tone that was long overdue, the most decisive farewell to this absurd marriage. We had been married for exactly three years-three years that, for me, were filled with nothing but endless loneliness and torment. For three years, the husband who should have stood by my side through every storm, Lucien Sullivan, had completely disappeared from my life as if he had never existed. He vanished without a trace, leaving me alone to endure this empty, desolate marriage. Today, I finally received his message: "I'm back. Come pick me up at the airport." When I read his words, my heart leapt with joy, and I raced to the airport, thinking that he finally understood my love and was coming back to me. But his cruelty was far worse than I could have ever imagined-he was accompanied by a pregnant woman, and that woman was Carla, my closest and most trusted friend. In that moment, all of my previous excitement, all my hope, and all of our shared laughter and tears turned into the sharpest of daggers, stabbing into my heart and leaving me gasping for air. Now, all I want is to escape from this place that has left me so broken-to lick my wounds in solitude. Even if these wounds will remain with me for the rest of my life, I refuse to have anything to do with him ever again. He should know that it was his own hand that trampled our love underfoot, that his coldness and betrayal created this irreparable situation. But when he heard those words, he desperately clung to this broken, crumbling marriage, unwilling to let it end-almost as though doing so could rewind time and return everything to how it used to be. "Aurora, come back. I regret everything!" Regret? Those simple words stirred no emotion in me-only endless sadness and fury. My heart let out a frantic, desperate scream: It's too late for any of this!

I was the long-lost Donovan heiress, finally brought home after a childhood in foster care. My parents adored me, my husband cherished me, and the woman who tried to ruin my life, Kiera Reese, was locked away in a mental facility. I was safe. I was loved. On my birthday, I decided to surprise my husband, Ivan, at his office. But he wasn't there. I found him at a private art gallery across town. He was with Kiera. She wasn't in a facility. She was radiant, laughing as she stood beside my husband and their five-year-old son. I watched through the glass as Ivan kissed her, a familiar, loving gesture he’d used with me just that morning. I crept closer and overheard them. My birthday wish to go to the amusement park had been denied because he’d already promised the entire park to their son—whose birthday was the same day as mine. "She’s so grateful to have a family, she’d believe anything we tell her," Ivan said, his voice laced with a cruelty that stole my breath. "It's almost sad." My entire reality—my loving parents who funded this secret life, my devoted husband—was a five-year lie. I was just the fool they kept on stage. My phone buzzed. It was a text from Ivan, sent while he stood with his real family. "Just got out of the meeting. So exhausting. I miss you." The casual lie was the final blow. They thought I was a pathetic, grateful orphan they could control. They were about to find out just how wrong they were.
