Sweety Wife, Fierce Husband Chapter 1 The Divorce

There were flowers and wine on this candlelit dinner.

Zoe sat at the table, rubbing her hands and fidgeting, while she was envisioning what look Lucas would have on his face when he returned later and saw everything she had carefully prepared...

When the sound of the key in the lock broke the silence, Zoe's face flushed with excitement as she trotted over to the door, assuming it was Lucas.

"Lucas..." she opened the door and felt like a bucket of icy water poured down on her head when she saw two people kissing passionately in the doorway, and her pounding heart got frozen in an instance!

Her body was stiffened as she watched the two people being lost in their hot kisses, and her pale lips were shivering. She was incapable of uttering any words.

The candlelight flickering behind her, and the scent of the wine became a great irony to her.

Lucas seemed to finally realize that there was someone in the house. His drunken, affectionate eyes looked through Zoe and scanned the situation behind her, then he let out a snort,

He gave a kiss on the sexy woman in his arms, and said softly, "So much for today, babe. I'll see you around."

With her heart feeling throbbed again, she coldly watched the two people reluctantly kissing goodbye through the tears held in her eyes, and after another wet kiss, Lucas sent the beauty away with alcohol on his breath and stumbled back in.

He walked straight to the table, sneered over the love cake and the red candles, picked up a glass of water from the table, and slowly poured it over the candle flame.

The water was like a bucket of cold water poured on Zoe's heart, which doused the flimsy hope left in her heart for this man thoroughly.

All the loving air and romance were dissipated in the dim, soft light. Lucas abruptly flipped the table, pulled out a chair, and sat down in a careless manner with some snippy violence looming between his eyebrows which gradually twisted his otherwise handsome face.

He looked at Zoe who was standing still at the door, and flew into a tantrum which came out of the blue, "Come and please me."

Zoe didn't move. Lucas looked at her with the same aversion and impatience as ever, "Zoe, I said, come and please me!"

Zoe shuddered, "Lucas, don't cross the line..."

"Isn't that what you want? You went to such great lengths to ruin my relationship with Sophia. You married me, threw yourself at me, and make such a mess every year. Isn't sleeping with me all you've been aiming at? I'll just go with it."

He spoke as if she were something dirty.

Zoe knew he hated her, but his hatred never got any less even after the three whole years of marriage life, from the beginning when he treated her like air to nowadays' occasional insults. She hadn't seen that coming. She thought she could persist in this forever, but at this moment, she felt exhausted.

She was too tired to explain any more about Sophia. She had explained it a million times which all ended in futility. He assumed Sophia married someone else because of her interference whatsoever.

Her biggest mistake was replacing Sophia to marry him for their families.

She looked at this man, whom she'd been loving deeply for three whole years, and said peacefully, "Let's divorce, Lucas."

Lucas was stunned, "What did you say?"

Zoe clenched her fists on both sides, "I'm saying that if we can't get along with each other, let's divorce. Set each other free."

Lucas' eyes twitched. Looking at Zoe's indifferent face, he was choked by the wrath in his chest, then he sneered, "I'd love to. Get out of here."

Zoe got her things briefly packed up. When she walked out of the villa, Lucas was still sitting in that chair, his face gloomy. He was staring at her back as if he wanted to jump on her and strangle her.

Rain hammered against the asphalt as my sedan spun violently into the guardrail on the I-95. Blood trickled down my temple, stinging my eyes, while the rhythmic slap of the windshield wipers mocked my panic. Trembling, I dialed my husband, Clive. His executive assistant answered instead, his voice professional and utterly cold. "Mr. Wilson says to stop the theatrics. He said, and I quote, 'Hang up. Tell her I don’t have time for her emotional blackmail tonight.'" The line went dead while I was still trapped in the wreckage. At the hospital, I watched the news footage of Clive wrapping his jacket around his "fragile" ex-girlfriend, Angelena, shielding her from the storm I was currently bleeding in. When I returned to our penthouse, I found a prenatal ultrasound in his suit pocket, dated the day he claimed to be on a business trip. Instead of an apology, Clive met me with a sneer. He told me I was nothing but an "expensive decoration" his father bought to make him look stable. He froze my bank accounts and cut off my cards, waiting for the hunger to drive me back to his feet. I stared at the man I had loved for four years, realizing he didn't just want a wife; he wanted a prop he could switch off. He thought he could starve me into submission while he played father to another woman's child. But Clive forgot one thing. Before I was his trophy wife, I was Starfall—the legendary voice actress who vanished at the height of her fame. "I'm not jealous, Clive. I'm done." I grabbed my old microphone and walked out. I’m not just leaving him; I’m taking the lead role in the biggest saga in Hollywood—the one Angelena is desperate for. This time, the "decoration" is going to burn his world down.

The heavy iron gates of the Wilderness Correction Camp groaned as they released me after three years of state-sponsored hell. I stood on the dirt road, clutching a plastic bag that held my entire life, waiting for the family that claimed they sent me there for "rehab." My brother, Brady, picked me up in a luxury SUV only to throw me out onto a deserted highway in the middle of a brewing storm. He told me I was a "public relations nightmare" and that the rain might finally wash the "stink" of the camp off me. He drove away, leaving me to limp miles through the mud on a snapped ankle. When I finally dragged myself to our family estate, my mother didn't offer a hug; she gasped in horror because my muddy clothes were ruining her Italian marble. They didn't give me my old room back. Instead, they banished me to a moldy gardener’s shack and hired a "babysitter" to make sure I didn't embarrass them further. My sister, Kaleigh, stood there in white cashmere, pretending to cry while clinging to her fiancé, Ambrose—the man who had once been mine. They all treated me like a volatile junkie, refusing to acknowledge that Kaleigh was the one who planted the drugs in my bag three years ago. They wanted to believe I was broken so they wouldn't have to feel guilty about the "wellness retreat" that was actually a torture chamber. I sat in the dark of that shed, feeling the cooling gel on the cigarette burns that covered my arms, and realized they had made a fatal mistake. They thought they had erased me, but I had returned with a roadmap of scars and a hidden satellite phone. At dinner, I didn't beg for their love. I simply rolled up my sleeves and showed them the price of their silence. As the wine spilled and the lies crumbled, I sent a single text to the only person I trusted: "I'm in. Let them simmer." The hunt was finally on.

Six years ago, I was a naive girl sold by my father to the powerful Sanders estate, only to be tossed onto the streets after a brutal assault they labeled "marital infidelity." I fled the country pregnant and broken, hiding from the shadow of a husband I had never even met. Now, I’ve returned to New York with my triplets to sign the final divorce papers and disappear forever. But Archibald Sanders—the man I was told was a crippled recluse—intercepted us with the cold precision of a predator. He didn't see the woman his family destroyed; he saw a gold-digger who had shamed his name. His security team hunted us to a grimy motel, using tactical force to snatch my children away and drag me to his glass-walled empire. In his office, he loomed over me, demanding a DNA test and threatening to throw me in prison while my babies were lost to the foster system. He was convinced I’d cheated, yet he stared at my sons with a haunting confusion, unable to ignore the stormy blue eyes that were a perfect mirror of his own. I stood there, paralyzed by his scent—the sharp tang of rain and expensive leather that triggered the icy dread of my worst nightmares. How could he accuse me of betrayal when he felt exactly like the monster who had shattered my life in that dark hotel room? "I'll sign anything," I sobbed, "just give me my kids." But the game changed when my five-year-old son hacked the tower’s security, holding the skyscraper hostage to save me. In the chaos, a fragile, silent boy—Archibald’s secret son—wandered into the room and reached for me as if I were his missing soul. Archibald’s face turned to stone as he tore up the agreement and locked the doors. "Until I find out why my son is looking at you like that," he growled, "you aren't going anywhere."
