Kendra POV

"Quickly! Hurry up! The groom is waiting and your sister is fainted!" My mother said from the other side of the phone.

"I'm almost there already. Just some minutes more please." I begged.

"Minutes more? I called you just twenty minutes ago and you want more minutes?! Better get here this instant!" Mom yells and ends the call.

I signed and tried breathing in and out slowly but this damned gown won't let me.

Why does my life have to be this way? Why?

The driver stopped at a huge church and standing right in front of it is my dad and mom.

"What took you so long?!" Mom yells.

"We don't have time for this. Come. Follow me in." Dad says.

I cross my arm with his and he starts walking me towards the bridegroom.

The bridegroom looks at me with a happy smile but he doesn't know that he is getting married to the wrong bride or so I thought.

After some other things, of which my mind totally blanked out, it finally got to the part where I am asked,

"Do you, Miss Rose, take Richard as your lawfully wedded husband?"

"I do."

"You may kiss the bride."

Richard leaned in for a kiss but I hesitate.

I turn my face away but then my eyes clashes with the death glares of my parents.

I turn back to Richard and he kisses me. What? Didn't he see or notice anything? Why are they all like this? Every single one of them keep behaving this way.

Are he kisses new all the guests get up from their seats and claps.

I even threw my bouquet when it got to that part but went back to my sad self when everything was finally over.

Hi, my name Kendra. Miss Kendra is what I take myself as.

For me, I don't have a husband. A definite husband to be precise.

You might all be wondering what's going on.

Well, let me tell you. That wedding was fixed for me at that very moment and so was others before it.

Yes, you heard me right, others before it.

Every time my step sister says yes to a man and changes her mind at the last minute I get put in her place.

This has been happing since I got to the age of eighteen. My step sister was twenty at that time and that was also the time she started this whole act of hers.

My entire life has been controlled by my parents and my step sister. The weird thing is that I am their own daughter.

My step sister, Kira, is the adopted one among us. I don't even know what she has done or is doing to my parents but they agree to her every command.

She also had some dirt on me that forced me to do whatever she wants. It's all the fault of my maid and ex tutor.

Mr and Mrs Donaldson are my parents and also big business tycoons.

There is nothing in this world that matters to them than S.M.K

That is, Status, Money, and finally, Kira.

I'm just nothing but a puppet in their hands.

All this was the fault of my stupid maid and that damned tutor of mine and it happened when I was eighteen years old.

I never knew that Kira would go this far.

But this story seems to move too fast. I need to start from the very beginning so you will understand my situation and why I have to follow every single command of theirs.

It all started long ago when I was just a kid. I'll start with when I was ten so you will understand what my relationship used to be with my parents, even after Kira was adopted. I used to be the loved princess of my parents...

"Mommy! Mommy! Look what I made for you." I said to my mom.

Dad was seated beside her and watching television.

"Aww. What is it?" She asked.

"It's a card mommy. Happy birthday." I said.

"It's pretty dear. I love it! But... It's not my birthday." She replied to me.

"Oh... But I thought I calculated it well this time..." I said in a sad tone of voice.

"Oh dear." Mom said and carried me, placing me on her laps.

"It's the thought that matters." She said to me.

"Don't worry. We will still throw a party to celebrate it. We will celebrate that our little Kendra made a beautiful card for mommy." Dad said.

"Thank you dad!" I said, jumping in excitement.

I got down from mommy's lap and hugged dad.

"Okay now run along." Dad said.

I left them in the living room and went up to my room.

That night we had the the best party in our lives, just the three of us. Until I slept off in the middle of it that is.

The next morning after waking up, I walked down the stairs and met dad and mommy in dinning room.

"Good morning mommy. Good morning dad." I greeted.

"Good morning princess. How was your night?" Mommy asked.

"Wonderful!" I cheered.

I had always been so energetic and fun living since the start.

"Okay. Better hurry up in preparing for your lesson. The tutor will be here soon." Dad said.

"Okay." I said.

After I was finally ready for the first lesson and the tutor had arrived, my parents picked up their suitcases.

"We'll be back with a surprise for you." Mommy said.

"Surprise? What is the surprise?" I asked.

"Haha. Just wait till we return." Dad said.

They both left and my tutor started his lesson. I was never allowed to go out of the house or even go to school.

I was such a fragile and precious diamond, at least that's what my parents told me.

I haven't told anyone about this but rich have this super crush on my tutor.

Yes he is older than me but what do you expect? I haven't seen any males apart from my dad and uncle.

My uncle is the only one apart from my parents that I know. You don't expect me to crush on a relative.

The age difference between I and my tutor isn't really that much. I'm ten and he's just... Twenty five... Okay there's much difference but that doesn't mean I can't crush on him.

He is so cute and looked so young and is well built as well.

After the lesson it was time for my tutor to go.

"Okay Kendra I'm leaving now. I'm so impressed with your improvement in studies everyday." My tutor said to me.

"Really?" I said with a bright smile.

"Yes. You're such a smart little girl." He said, giving me a pat on the head.

He was about to leave but I held his hand with both my hands.

"Please stay. My parents are always leaving me all alone in the house. And they always come back late. By then I'm already asleep on the couch." I explained.

I made puppy eyes at him so he wouldn't say no.

"Well... Okay fine but just this once okay?" My tutor said.

"Yes!" I said, excitedly.

"Okay now come with me." I said, dragging him to a chair.

I sat him down there and went up to pick a movie.

I picked Tom and Jerry of course. My parents had but all for me cause I'm such a fan. I was so sure that adults enjoyed it too.

I went down the stairs and inserted it and turned on the television.

A maid even got us some pop corn. We watched the Tom and Jerry movie and laughed together till night time when I finally fell asleep with my head on his lap.

I was once the heiress to the Solomon empire, but after it crumbled, I became the "charity case" ward of the wealthy Hyde family. For years, I lived in their shadows, clinging to the promise that Anson Hyde would always be my protector. That promise shattered when Anson walked into the ballroom with Claudine Chapman on his arm. Claudine was the girl who had spent years making my life a living hell, and now Anson was announcing their engagement to the world. The humiliation was instant. Guests sneered at my cheap dress, and a waiter intentionally sloshed champagne over me, knowing I was a nobody. Anson didn't even look my way; he was too busy whispering possessively to his new fiancée. I was a ghost in my own home, watching my protector celebrate with my tormentor. The betrayal burned. I realized I wasn't a ward; I was a pawn Anson had kept on a shelf until he found a better trade. I had no money, no allies, and a legal trust fund that Anson controlled with a flick of his wrist. Fleeing to the library, I stumbled into Dallas Koch—a titan of industry and my best friend’s father. He was a wall of cold, absolute power that even the Hydes feared. "Marry me," I blurted out, desperate to find a shield Anson couldn't climb. Dallas didn't laugh. He pulled out a marriage agreement and a heavy fountain pen. "Sign," he commanded, his voice a low rumble. "But if you walk out that door with me, you never go back." I signed my name, trading my life for the only man dangerous enough to keep me safe.

My stepmother sold me like a piece of inventory to a man known for breaking people just to plug the financial crater my father left behind. I was delivered to the Morton estate in the middle of a freezing storm, stripped of my phone, and told that if I didn't make myself useful, my senile grandfather would be evicted from his care facility by noon. The master of the house, Adonis Morton IV, was a monster living in a silent mausoleum, driven to the brink of madness by a sensory condition that turned every sound into a physical assault. When I was forced into his suite to serve him, he didn't see a human being; he saw a source of agony. In a fit of animalistic rage, he pinned me to the wall and nearly strangled me to death just for the sound of a shattering teacup. I only survived by using my grandfather’s secret herbal blends and pressure-point therapy to force his overactive nervous system into a drugged sleep. But saving him was my greatest mistake. Instead of letting me go, Adonis moved me into a guest suite connected to his own bedroom by a hidden door. He didn't just want me as a servant; he needed me as a human white-noise machine to drown out the demons in his head. The nightmare deepened when he took the promissory note that defined my freedom and tore it into confetti. By destroying the debt, he destroyed my exit strategy. He replaced my maid’s uniform with a silver silk dress that clung to my skin but did nothing to hide the dark, ugly bruises his fingers had left on my neck. He branded me as his "primary care associate," a title that was nothing more than a gilded cage. I felt a sickening sense of injustice as he forced me to sign a contract that banned me from contacting other men and required me to sleep wherever he slept. He looked at me with a possessive heat, calling me his "medication" rather than a woman. My family had sold my body, but Adonis Morton was intent on owning my very presence, using my grandfather’s medical bills as a leash to keep me within twenty feet of him at all times. Standing in a neglected greenhouse with mud staining my expensive silk, I realized I was no longer a victim waiting for rescue. If I was going to be his medication, I would learn how to be his cure—or his undoing. I began clearing the weeds with a cold, calculated frenzy, determined to turn this prison into my laboratory. He thinks he has trapped a helpless girl, but I am going to pry open the cracks in his stone walls until his entire world comes crashing down.
