Chapter 1 ONE

Today will be the first time I meet my lifemate. Because they are from an old-cash or old-rich family, my father advised me to dress suitably and be acceptable.

"Your father has informed me that he wants you to be ready by 7 p.m. this evening, Ms. Lee. Without further ado, the Kim will appear." One of our employees stated.

My father comes from a very wealthy family, which explains why we live in such luxury. He's a finance manager and what causes him to feel spurred is having a huge load of cash. That is the reason when Kim requested my hand for marriage, he promptly concurs and persuades me to wed him.

Angelo Kim was someone I knew. He's one of the greatest lone wolves I've seen in a long time. He has a reputation for being brilliant and perceptive. That is why I am perplexed as to why his father suggested that I marry his son Angelo Kim when there are so many lovely young females available.

Angelo's efficiency was something I admired. I recognized him just because of his plugs. It's anytime I'm first gathering his family, and I should admit that I have no idea what they have in store for me.

I've applied my make-up properly, combed my hair, and now all I have to do is put on my dress. My parents haven't told me what time they'll arrive. I was looking at the new bracelet that my parents had given me. The armband was fantastic, and I just adore it.

When my father sees it, I'm sure he'll have a look at it. I can't help but wonder what he would make of it.

My God, I'm speechless! It's already 7 p.m., and no one has arrived at our house. I'm starting to get a little uneasy.

I assumed my parents would depart for work, so I decided to freshen up before heading to our house. I wore my red high heels and pushed my long hair to the side. I was wearing a dark sweater over my treasured dress, which made my legs appear exceedingly tiny. My outfit, I believed, was really elegant.

I was shocked when I entered my room. It was flawless and spotless. For me, it was an incredible tendency. Everything was fantastic, in my opinion.

I went to the lounge to stand by because the home looked to be tranquil. I felt so energized. I was concerned that my parents would not be able to return home today.

I started thinking about all of the things I needed to tell them. They are whenever I initially meet Angelo's family and need to create a good rapport with them.

Angelo remained at our doorstep, which surprised me. He's a handsome young man with long, earthy-colored hair and a good frame. He was dressed in a black shirt with a tight fit and dark jeans.

I'd never seen him in those clothes before. He was quite handsome.

For him, I opened the door. "Thank you very much for coming," I said with a smile.

Angelo stayed at the location. His parents stood next to him, looking gorgeous in their suits. They all appear to be beautiful and expensive.

Angelo entered the house for the first time. He was staring right at me. I was aiming to be as quiet as possible. I couldn't think of anything to say or do. He came up to me and smelled fantastic.

"It's a pleasure to meet you," he said quickly.

Before she checked out my mother, his mother chuckled "Amanda, I'm very sorry for being late. We experienced a few troubles here because our driver unexpectedly took unwell. Angelo, fortunately, enjoys driving." She stated this while adoring her child.

My father and mother were also welcomed by her better half, who was right next to her.

"That isn't a problem, Angelo. We are really delighted that you could join us."

The meal has begun, and I am seated unobtrusively. Angelo appears in front of me, looking fatigued as he listens to our family members discuss our commitment. My parents are talking about something, and I've been listening to them for so long that I've stopped hearing them.

Angelo was everywhere I looked. Furthermore, his gloomy expression, his virus-infected eyes exhaustingly staring down at me. The table was massive. We could all use it. Angelo was seated next to his mother, and my mother was sitting next to me. I looked at Angelo and looked him in the eyes. He gave me a kind smile.

I averted my gaze. I was simply fearful. I was just looking at him.

"Mother, may I have a second with Mika?" Angelo surprisingly murmured as he opened his lips to speak, making everyone look at both of us. "All I need is a second with my fiancee," he explained.

I was nervous since I had no understanding why he needed to spend a second with me out of nowhere. "Angelo, obviously. Allow yourself as much time as you require. Make an effort not to become entangled." Mrs. Angeloessa Kim expressed herself.

Angelo took a look at me. "I'm not going to screw with you, are we?" he said.

I felt flushed and ashamed.

"I need a second with my fiancee in private," Angelo stated again, making a sound as if to speak.

"Angelo, I mean, darling, I see Mika is staying here, assuming you need anything you can ask her," his mother said.

"I'll do it." I reddened once again as he smirked at me.

They each stood up their end of the bargain. I was perplexed. What exactly is Angelo's issue with me?

He grabbed my hand and dragged me over to the nursery. "I assume you're aware that this is merely a staged wedding and that we're not obligated to fulfill the couple's duties, right?" he asked.

"Of course... I'm not sure why you feel the need to drag me here to talk about it." I averted my gaze.

"I assume you're not one of those young girls that has to have such dreadful intercourse with me," Angelo said, agitated.

My heart skipped a beat when I realized what he meant.

"How dare you!" I exclaimed angrily.

"I just want to remind you to keep your dreams alive. We're only marrying each other for money."

I had been a wife for exactly six hours when I woke up to the sound of my husband’s heavy breathing. In the dim moonlight of our bridal suite, I watched Hardin, the man I had adored for years, intertwined with my sister Carissa on the chaise lounge. The betrayal didn't come with an apology. Hardin stood up, unashamed, and sneered at me. "You're awake? Get out, you frumpy mute." Carissa huddled under a throw, her fake tears already welling up as she played the victim. They didn't just want me gone; they wanted me erased to protect their reputations. When I refused to move, my world collapsed. My father didn't offer a shoulder to cry on; he threatened to have me committed to a mental asylum to save his business merger. "You're a disgrace," he bellowed, while the guards stood ready to drag me away. They had spent my life treating me like a stuttering, submissive pawn, and now they were done with me. I felt a blinding pain in my skull, a fracture that should have broken me. But instead of tears, something dormant and lethal flickered to life. The terrified girl who walked down the aisle earlier that day simply ceased to exist. In her place, a clinical system—the Valkyrie Protocol—booted up. My racing heart plummeted to a steady sixty beats per minute. I didn't scream. I stood up, my spine straightening for the first time in twenty years, and looked at Hardin with the detachment of a surgeon looking at a tumor. "Correction," I said, my voice stripped of its stutter. "You're in my light." By dawn, I had drained my father's accounts, vanished into a storm, and found a bleeding Crown Prince in a hidden safehouse. They thought they had broken a mute girl. They didn't realize they had just activated their own destruction.

I was finally brought back to the billionaire Vance estate after years in the grimy foster system, but the luxury Lincoln felt more like a funeral procession. My biological family didn't welcome me with open arms; they looked at me like a stain on a silk shirt. They thought I was a "defective" mute with cognitive delays, a spare part to be traded away. Within hours of my arrival, my father decided to sell me to Julian Thorne, a bitter, paralyzed heir, just to secure a corporate merger. My sister Tiffany treated me like trash, whispering for me to "go back to the gutter" before pouring red wine over my dress in front of Manhattan's elite. When a drunk cousin tried to lay hands on me at the engagement gala, my grandmother didn't protect me-she raised her silver-topped cane to strike my face for "embarrassing the family." They called me a sacrificial lamb, laughing as they signed the prenuptial agreement that stripped me of my freedom. They had no idea I was E-11, the underground hacker-artist the world was obsessed with, or that I had already breached their private servers. I found the hidden medical records-blood types A, A, and B-a biological impossibility that proved my "parents" were harboring a scandal that could ruin them. Why bring me back just to discard me again? And why was Julian Thorne, the man supposedly bound to a wheelchair, secretly running miles at dawn on his private estate? Standing in the middle of the ballroom, I didn't plead for mercy. I used a text-to-speech app to broadcast a cold, synthetic threat: "I have the records, Richard. Do you want me to explain genetics to the press, or should we leave quietly?" With the "paralyzed" billionaire as my unexpected accomplice, I walked out of the Vance house and into a much more dangerous game.
