Chapter 1 The Journey

Hi, I'm Ranky and in this book, I'd be narrating a fictional story of a teenage boy who just graduated from highschool only to fall in love with his uncle's neighbor during vacation. Every character in this story are fictional and do not exist. So here we go!!!

It was 7am in the morning as James alarm rang forcing him up from bed so as to turn it off.

He yawned and streched his body just like everyone does when they wake up.

James just finished his final year at highschool and was looking forward to entering a college to further his education.

He has always had a passion of helping the sick or wounded since when he was little and decided he'll become a medical doctor.

James lived with both his parents and a younger sister (Diana) who just gained admission into highschool.

Still a bit drowsy he walked his way to the living room and found his sister watching TV as it was a weekend.

"Good morning bro, I hope you slept well?" Diana said.

"Yes I did, thanks. How about you?" He replied

"Yeah I Slept well too" she answered.

"By the way where's mum and dad?" He asked

"Um dad's outside washing the car and mum went to the grocery store this morning." Diana replied

"Okay thanks" he said as he went out to meet his dad outside.

James dad (Albert) works as a Mechanic while his mum (Sarah) does decorations (events planning).

He wasn't really from a rich home but they weren't poor. You could say they did just fine.

"Hi dad! Good morning." He waved with a smile on his face

"Hey my boy! Wanna give dad a helping hand?" Albert responded

"Of course! That's why I'm here." he said while laughing.

James quickly rushed towards his dad and picked a brush to start scrubbing the car tyres.

"So son, you've got any plans for your vacation?" Albert asked

"Nah dad, I think I'll just stay at home and chill." He replied

(Chuckles) "You mean you have nothing to do for the next few weeks since you're at home?" Albert asked with curiosity

"Got any better idea?" He asked while scrubbing the car tyres.

"How about spending the holiday at uncle Joe's place? It's been a while you've connected with him since he's been caught up with work. As well you get to enjoy his special pizza." Albert proposed

Less I forget, let me explain who uncle Joe is. Joe is Albert's younger brother who isn't married. He lives a bit far away from James home (5 hours drive) and works as a chef in a popular eatery.

"Haha Dad, well I could do that besides I really love his pizza and it's been long I've seen him." he said with a grin on his face.

"I remember you fighting your sister when you were little for it when it remained a piece. Really good times." Albert said as he smiled.

"Come on dad, that was a very long time ago." he said while laughing.

Just at that moment Sarah walked in with the groceries she went to buy.

"Good morning mum, welcome home." he said.

"Thank you my love, I can see you and your dad are having an interesting conversation judging by the smiles on you both faces." she replied.

"Yes we are, and please I'm starving. I can barely see clearly." Albert said jokingly.

"Hahaha, breakfast will be ready soon." Sarah replied as she walked her way into the house heading to the kitchen.

On seeing Sarah, Diana left the living room to the kitchen to assist her mum as they prepared breakfast.

30 minutes after Sarah called out. "Honey breakfast is ready!"

"Alright we'll be there in a minute." Albert replied.

In a few minutes the whole family was in the dining room about to eat.

"Diana, could you please bless the food before we eat?" Sarah said

"Dear God, we thank you for the gift of life and ability to eat today. We also thank you for your endless provision for the family. Also provide for the needy. For this and many more we give thanks". Diana prayed

"Amen!" they all chorused

"So Diana how's highschool? Are you getting along?" Albert asked as they started eating.

"It's a bit new for me compared to elementary school but I'm good". She replied.

"It's only a matter of time, you'll get yourself some new friend and blend". James said as he drank a glass of milk.

"So have you decided on what college to further on?" Sarah asked

"Well mum, I've been thinking but yet to make a decision. I think I need some time" James replied

"Just know that this family will always support your decision" Sarah replied

"Thanks mum. I know that" he said.

'While we were washing the car I proposed James goes to spend a week of his vacation with Joe if that's okay by you my love." Albert said to Sarah as he wiped his mouth of some food.

"Joe would really love to see James since it's been a while and it's okay by me too." Sarah answered

Alright! You leave tomorrow morning James. Albert said

Wait, what??? Tomorrow morning? James said out loud in surprise.

"There's no time to waste my boy" Albert replied.

"Okay fine I better start arranging my stuffs them." he said

"Looks like only one person gets to enjoy uncle Joe's pizza again." Diana said jokingly

"Oh come on don't be jealous. I'll bring you some when I get back." James said laughing

Alright then. No problem she said with a smile on her face.

The day went so fast and it was already morning.

James packed his stuffs into his dad's car with the help of his sister and was set to go.

The whole family stood outside to bid him farewell.

He hugged his mum and little sister before entering the car with his dad as Albert started driving.

"Byeee" he said from the window as he waved his mum and sister from a distance.

They waved at him back and blew him some kisses with a smile on their faces.

It wasn't long before they got to the major road and the journey to uncle Joe's house began.

"Let's get married," Mia declares, her voice trembling despite her defiant gaze into Stefan's guarded brown eyes. She needs this, even if he seems untouchable. Stefan raises a skeptical brow. "And why would I do that?" His voice was low, like a warning, and it made her shiver even though she tried not to show it. "We both have one thing in common," Mia continues, her gaze unwavering. "Shitty fathers. They want to take what's ours and give it to who they think deserves it." A pointed pause hangs in the air. "The only difference between us is that you're an illegitimate child, and I'm not." Stefan studies her, the heiress in her designer armor, the fire in her eyes that matches the burn of his own rage. "That's your solution? A wedding band as a weapon?" He said ignoring the part where she just referred to him as an illegitimate child. "The only weapon they won't see coming." She steps closer, close enough for him to catch the scent of her perfume, gunpowder and jasmine. "Our fathers stole our birthrights. The sole reason they betrayed us. We join forces, create our own empire that'll bring down theirs." A beat of silence. Then, Stefan's mouth curves into something sharp. "One condition," he murmurs, closing the distance. "No divorces. No surrenders. If we're doing this, it's for life" "Deal" Mia said without missing a beat. Her father wants to destroy her life. She wouldn't give him the pleasure, she would destroy her life as she seems fit. ................ Two shattered heirs. One deadly vow. A marriage built on revenge. Mia Meyers was born to rule her father's empire (so she thought), until he named his bastard son heir instead. Stefan Sterling knows the sting of betrayal too. His father discarded him like trash. Now the rivals' disgraced children have a poisonous proposal: Marry for vengeance. Crush their fathers' legacies. Never speak of divorce. Whoever cracks first loses everything. Can these two rivals, united by their vengeful hearts, pull off a marriage of convenience to reclaim what they believe is rightfully theirs? Or will their fathers' animosity, and their own complicated pasts tear their fragile alliance apart?

The sterile white of the operating room blurred, then sharpened, as Skye Sterling felt the cold clawing its way up her body. The heart monitor flatlined, a steady, high-pitched whine announcing her end. Her uterus had been removed, a desperate attempt to stop the bleeding, but the blood wouldn't clot. It just kept flowing, warm and sticky, pooling beneath her. Through heavy eyes, she saw a trembling nurse holding a phone on speaker. "Mr. Kensington," the nurse's voice cracked, "your wife... she's critical." A pause, then a sweet, poisonous giggle. Seraphina Miller. "Liam is in the shower," Seraphina's voice purred. "Stop calling, Skye. It's pathetic. Faking a medical emergency on our anniversary? Even for you, that's low." Then, Liam's bored voice: "If she dies, call the funeral home. I have a meeting in the morning." Click. The line went dead. A second later, so did Skye. The darkness that followed was absolute, suffocating, a black ocean crushing her lungs. She screamed into the void, a silent, agonizing wail of regret for loving a man who saw her as a nuisance, for dying without ever truly living. Until she died, she didn't understand. Why was her life so tragically wasted? Why did her husband, the man she loved, abandon her so cruelly? The injustice of it all burned hotter than the fever in her body. Then, the air rushed back in. Skye gasped, her body convulsing violently on the mattress. Her eyes flew open, wide and terrified, staring blindly into the darkness. Her trembling hand reached for her phone. May 12th. Five years ago. She was back.
