It hurts when two people are separated even before giving each other a chance because of a third party and misunderstanding. Still, nothing is more beautiful than when they come back together and move forward in life by leaving their past behind. It is okay to not forget about the past, but it is important to forgive and give a second chance to each other and life. It is an inevitable love story of two individuals who fall in love and get past their divorce, and are with each other again.

Heart Beats For You Chapter 1 Meeting Again

'Finally! A start to something new. It has been three long years, and it's about time to let everything go and have a fresh start.'

This was the very first thought that came into Alex's mind as he entered his new apartment, which was on the ninth floor of the building.

The last three years have been tough for him. Divorce from his wife, the true colors of his ex-girlfriend, his parents' disapproval of his behaviour, his efforts to mend his relationship with his sisters, everything has taken a toll on him. For the past three years, he has lived a life of guilt and has always felt responsible for his actions.

He looked at his apartment and had a happy smile on his face. It wasn't anything exclusive but a comfortable condo for him, just as he liked it. It has been a while since he has lived in his comfort zone. He sometimes felt like smacking himself for not changing his attitude sooner because if he had, not only his life but even his loved one's life would have been much easier.

He breathed a long sigh, took a shower, and was about to go to bed sooner than usual until he heard the loud music coming from below.

He groaned and dragged himself to have a few words with the owner. Hopefully, it was not some young adult who likes to throw late-night

parties on a regular basis. The irony of life. He used to be that kind of guy who used to have late parties every other night, but with age,

things do change. He is not an old fellow with gray hair; he is a young man who is almost thirty. He is just more mature than other guys his age. Life and experience do that to you or any other person in this world.

As and when he was walking down the stairs, the music got louder, and it was doing nothing but aggravating him more with each passing second. He took a deep breath and rang the bell just before the music stopped. Some timing the keeper has. He might as well have a word with the respective owner so that this doesn't happen again. He doesn't want to come home to this every single night. After long hours of work, a peaceful night with good sleep is a must.

He was waiting for the door to open and was flabbergasted when he saw that, instead of some young stranger answering the door, it was

the woman he had longed to meet for the past three years.

----------

Marissa had a panic attack when suddenly the volume of the music rose from the stereo. She recently bought a new music system as her old one decided to die down. She wasn't that good at technology, so she tried all sorts of buttons to reduce the volume. She tried to read the

instructions, but it all seemed gibberish to her.

"You! Stupid dumb box, will you lower your damn voice? Goddamit! Why can't this system be simple to work with?" She shouted loudly,

talking to no one in particular. "Jesus Christ! Come on, which one of you is going to lower the volume of the music?" She started talking to the buttons.

As crazy as this sounds, she didn't want the grumpy old lady to give her a long lecture about discipline, and, as it is, it wasn't her fault

that she was not that literate about gadgets.

Right when she was able to control the volume, the doorbell rang, and she knew it might be one of her neighbours. Or worse, the grumpy

old lady.

Marissa recalls the time when her friend Ronny decided it would be hilarious to awaken the entire building with loud music in the middle of the night. Much to her dismay, the outcome wasn't very good as she got a long lecture by the famous grumpy old lady about being an ill-

mannered woman and how it is not ladylike to have a guy home in the evening. She sometimes wonders how the hell that old lady was even born in this era. She was too narrow-minded and orthodox.

She closed her eyes and opened the door, presuming to be the grumpy old lady. "I am so sorry, Margarita. It was totally by mistake. I got

this new stereo and was having difficulty handling it..." She kept on rambling words like an idiot until silence greeted her.

Marissa slowly opened one of her eyes to get a glimpse of the grumpy old lady's face, but to her utter surprise, she found a man standing

in front of her. The very same man whom she swore never to meet or even think about ever again.

I was sitting in the Presidential Suite of The Pierre, wearing a Vera Wang gown worth more than most people earn in a decade. It was supposed to be the wedding of the century, the final move to merge two of Manhattan's most powerful empires. Then my phone buzzed. It was an Instagram Story from my fiancé, Jameson. He was at Charles de Gaulle Airport in Paris with a caption that read: "Fuck the chains. Chasing freedom." He hadn't just gotten cold feet; he had abandoned me at the altar to run across the world. My father didn't come in to comfort me. He burst through the door roaring about a lost acquisition deal, telling me the Holland Group would strip our family for parts if the ceremony didn't happen by noon. My stepmother wailed about us becoming the laughingstock of the Upper East Side. The Holland PR director even suggested I fake a "panic attack" to make myself look weak and sympathetic to save their stock price. Then Jameson’s sleazy cousin, Pierce, walked in with a lopsided grin, offering to "step in" and marry me just to get his hands on my assets. I looked at them and realized I wasn't a daughter or a bride to anyone in that room. I was a failed asset, a bouncing check, a girl whose own father told her to go to Paris and "beg" the man who had just publicly humiliated her. The girl who wanted to be loved died in that mirror. I realized that if I was going to be sold to save a merger, I was going to sell myself to the one who actually controlled the money. I marched past my parents and walked straight into the VIP holding room. I looked the most powerful man in the room—Jameson’s cold, ruthless uncle, Fletcher Holland—dead in the eye and threw the iPad on the table. "Jameson is gone," I said, my voice as hard as stone. "Marry me instead."

Rain hammered against the asphalt as my sedan spun violently into the guardrail on the I-95. Blood trickled down my temple, stinging my eyes, while the rhythmic slap of the windshield wipers mocked my panic. Trembling, I dialed my husband, Clive. His executive assistant answered instead, his voice professional and utterly cold. "Mr. Wilson says to stop the theatrics. He said, and I quote, 'Hang up. Tell her I don’t have time for her emotional blackmail tonight.'" The line went dead while I was still trapped in the wreckage. At the hospital, I watched the news footage of Clive wrapping his jacket around his "fragile" ex-girlfriend, Angelena, shielding her from the storm I was currently bleeding in. When I returned to our penthouse, I found a prenatal ultrasound in his suit pocket, dated the day he claimed to be on a business trip. Instead of an apology, Clive met me with a sneer. He told me I was nothing but an "expensive decoration" his father bought to make him look stable. He froze my bank accounts and cut off my cards, waiting for the hunger to drive me back to his feet. I stared at the man I had loved for four years, realizing he didn't just want a wife; he wanted a prop he could switch off. He thought he could starve me into submission while he played father to another woman's child. But Clive forgot one thing. Before I was his trophy wife, I was Starfall—the legendary voice actress who vanished at the height of her fame. "I'm not jealous, Clive. I'm done." I grabbed my old microphone and walked out. I’m not just leaving him; I’m taking the lead role in the biggest saga in Hollywood—the one Angelena is desperate for. This time, the "decoration" is going to burn his world down.

I lived as the "scarred ghost" of the Stephens penthouse, a wife kept in the shadows because my facial burns offended my billionaire husband’s aesthetic. For years, I endured Kason’s coldness and my family's abuse, a submissive puppet who believed she had nowhere else to go. The end came with a blue folder tossed onto my silk sheets. Kason’s mistress was back, and he wanted me out by sunset, offering a five-million-dollar "silence fee" to go hide my face in the countryside. The betrayal cut deep when I discovered my father had already traded my divorce for a corporate bailout. My step-sister mocked my "trashy" appearance at a high-end boutique, while the sales staff treated me like a common thief. At home, my father threatened to cut off my mother's life-saving medicine unless I crawled back to Kason to beg for a better deal. I was the girl who took the blame for a fire she didn't start, the wife who worshipped a man who never looked her in the eye, and the daughter used as a human bargaining chip. I was supposed to be broken, penniless, and desperate. But the woman who stood up wasn't the weak Elease Finch anymore; she was Phoenix, a tactical predator with a $500 million secret. I signed the divorce papers without a single tear, walked past my stunned husband, and wiped the Finch family's bank accounts clean with a few taps on my phone. "Your money is dirty," I told Kason with a cold smile. "I prefer clean hands." The cage is open, the hunt has begun, and I’m starting with the people who thought a scar made me weak.
