"If you open up your eyes you can see that sometimes a dream can separate your soul into reality."
The sun was already high in the sky by the time I've given my cat a food to eat and then suddenly i heard something howling from the neighbourhood. Sounds coming from a dog so maybe he is hungry i decided to put two pieces of meat in the tin can outside of our house and close the front door.
I was alone in the house it is nearby in the woods and there are few neighbourhoods left. My parents left me for Caribbean vacation for weeks ago. Well it is a favourable day because i got my boring Halloween vacation when the semester comes to an end.
The night comes with an eerie terrible howling of dogs outside.
It began the night I had a dreamed of a beautiful maiden.
I always think about her like I was enchanted with her image on my mind.
Time had not made me immune to the perfection of her face. I thought staring into her eyes always made me feel extraordinary, sort of like my bones were turning spongy.
It was a face any female model in the world trade her soul.
Ever since those days, I've been tried to draw her in my sketchpad and my bullied classmates thought that I am crazy person, believing in my own twisted world that I feel in love with an imaginary woman. It sounds irritated and I looked fool for them so I made my mind, I used to paint her in my canvass and lock and hid from my large dark cabinet in my bedroom so that no one will notice what I've been doing during my spare time.
I do have some campus crushes but I never attempted to court someone or got special endearment. Study is my first priority, but this woman cracks my head is really something. There was a magic that hit my brain when she enter my whole system. I guess she's a morphine that drug me to makes me more addicted to her.
A months ago along came Labor Day, I'd been in High School. Opening day was supposed to be something special. There was a special assembly and we got our class assignments. Afterwards, at about two-thirty, everyone headed home.
Suddenly, I heard someone behind me. I didn't have to look. I knew who it was, Charles Ivan, my bullied classmate looking bigger and meaner than he had last June. He was closing in fast.
"Hey, pretty crazy dreamboy," he hooted, coming up beside me.
"Your shoes are on backwards. You're going to trip and hurt yourself, dummy." Slick as a whistle he put one foot down right in my path. I tripped on it, falling flat in the dirt. Angry and scared, I looked up at Charles. "Told you," he said, grinning. "Warned you, but..."
I saw someone coming. Next thing I knew, he was up on Charles back, tap his shoulder. When Charles turned his head to see who's after him. The guy with pale skin, push him hard and he was pull hard in a faraway yard until he was hit my a garbage bin. The impact was so strong and I can't believe that such human strength can push a person so hard and powerful. It looks like a science fiction suspense scene. I could see Charles back was hurt and he ran. Then the guy help me to stand up.
"You better be careful next time and don't let anyone touch you." The guy started to walked out and left me alone in the sidewalk yard.
I won't forget those incidents and until now I was puzzled who is that guy and why did he chose to save me from my bullied classmate. But I thank him for protecting me.
After several weeks ago, I had another dream and it was kind of weird.
It was the time of American colonization.
Early in 1920, I was in a verge of something like I was in a total different place.
I wore the popular Americana and walked in the deep hollow forest where silhouette of lights surrounded the tall cypress trees. As I followed the path near a river, I noticed some wild flowers nearby, its all red like the color of blood and I wonder why there are no other animals surrounded the place. I thought it's strange and I lose my mind but when I stopped from an old oak tree I heard the chirping of the birds cluttering the air but when I drew nearer close enough to the branch of the tree I saw that it was not just birds but crows scattered everywhere like they are calling something behind the woods.
The full moon encircled the sky and the fog chilled around the forest. I keep my eyes opened hoping that I reach my destination. It was late enough that it was properly nighttime. I watched the moon across the sky when something suddenly caught my eyes. I saw two small lights moving through the woods. They looked like the eyes of some strange animal but I couldn't make out what kind of animal it was.
I kept my eyes on the woods and then something stepped out of the shadows...something ghastly. It was coming from the wood towards the river. For a few minutes, I lost sight of it.Then I saw it coming across the river towards in my direction. It looked something like a woman.
As I watched it, the most uncontrollable horror seized me. I saw a hideous shrunken white face with flaming eyes glaring at me but when she approached me I was so delighted, she got a red luscious lips, red eyes and auburn hair and she smelled cinnamon honey so sweet and intoxicating.
She wore traje de mestizo, it had bigger sleeves and a narrower floor length skirt with a long train called saya de cola.
I felt dizzy but I was stuck with her scent, she drew nearer and she is about to kiss me until someone calling out my name.
Late in 1986:
"SON!!! WAKE UP!!!" My mom shakes me and to my surprise I felt a little ashame.
I was imagining things, I stared blankly as I carried a spoon and finished my dinner.
"You're spaced out. Are you alright?" she asks.
My mom must have known I was into something over my head. I could tell by the way she looked at me, and the way she judged my answers to innocent questions, as if there was hidden meaning in everything I said. I guess its scientific hunch of every woman.
"Well! Yeah mom.'' I answered without knowing exactly what to say.
Mom looked at me, studying me for all the layers of meaning beneath my one-word answer, then finally gave up with a sigh.
But afterwards, she went to a secret compartment of her cabinet and pulled out a little cross and gave it to me.
"I want you to have it," my mom said. "Bring it in your room so the God will protect you."
I took the gothic cross and rubbed it between my fingers and I prove that it was silver.
My eyes snapped up to her. I could tell by looking at her that she didn't know that I hid a portrait inside my room and fantasize imaginary woman in my mind.
"Sure, Mom," I said. I almost told her everything right then. I wanted to tell her about the woman I saw in the forest, and how I was supposed to adore her. I wanted to explain to her, but how could I when I couldn't explain it to myself? In the end, all I said was, "Thanks."
"Close to your heart," she said, so I use a strong thread and make it a necklace gothic cross over my neck and tucked it beneath my shirt.
I went back to the kitchen to washes the dishes. I glance up in the TV and something caught my attention.
The movie feature a fantasy horror about werewolves and vampires. The scene presented human transformed into werewolf, the animals stormed in an abandon destroyed church. There was a fog, but it wasn't a normal fog. It was thick and stunt like swamp rot. It was unnatural, like the whole place was built on rotting dirt from some other dark, faraway place.
The smell was so strong it made the werewolves howl in agony. That's when the vampire goth girls with weird fashion styles came. Dropping down from the ledges of the old burned-out factories. I was awestruck when I saw the vampires transform into bats. Dozens of bats, swarming with the werewolves, clawing them, screeching with their ears, but no matter how fast they moved to swat them away, they were faster. In the end, they attacked one wolf. A dozen of them bit the wolf. Then, one of the bats turned into a girl, the leader of the vampires. She just stood, smiling to the werewolves as the bats behind her drained every last bit of the wolf blood in a minute flat. Then the leader turned back into a bat herself and flew off with the rest of them.
I was stuck with the movie. It was awesome.
"Hey bro, are you finish?" Tom asks.
Then I go back to consciousness.
"Yeah." I said.
After washing dishes, I went to my room that night.
It was getting dark very quickly. Night was falling like a curtain over the day, or maybe it was just the dense trees outside.
Life was very simple.
I am geek College student and I don't prefer myself as 'perfect', not that I'm a genius or anything. I'm just a mix of a little bit of brains, a whole bunch of studying, and a knack for multiple choice tests. Well, I suppose if the others are variables, I'm the constant. Constantly busy, constantly shuttling from swim team to debate team to home with the regularity of a celestial clock.Blend with busy parents earning maximum wage to get scholarship to University. You're probably wondering how I fit into this little imagination of mine towards a beautiful woman.
Here I am in my room surrounded by different posters of Tom Cruise my favorite actor that rose to fame in different movies.
I have a lot of magazines of different personalities including Mark Harmon popular as the 'Sexiest Man Alive" and bunches of newspaper in the drawer. I'm also a fan of Stephen King as collected different books on my shelves. I am usually a geek but I have a dream....dream to be with a beautiful maiden in my mind.
My imagination gave me another sense of pursuing the painting.
I was sitting on the chair while doing a masterpiece this night. Soft, mellow, classical music drifts through my room. A woman sings passionately, pouring all of her energy into the song.
Strumming my pain with his fingers
Singing my life with his words
Killing me softly with his song
Killing me softly with his song
Telling my whole life with his words
Killing me softly with his song."
The slow sultry beat of the music put me a spell like I used to listened it for a long time ago. A magical combination, a small, potent pronoun that clinches my desire.
It's breathtaking. I glance up and smiles as I finish the image of a beautiful maiden.
I dreamed of her every night where darkness arose in my room.
She is a tall auburn hair woman with a small-shaped face, innocent gray eyes with a long nose, and full red heart-shaped lips. She's the main attraction of my life. I insist in my head that she is my first crush and my first love. My heart sinks into different joy and my body ascends in a very hot temptation. She's more than a rose to smell, more than food to satisfy hunger or maybe it's the power of love and attraction or maybe a simple infatuation for a teenage guy like me.
