Chapter 1 Running into a wall

My name is Violet Wilson and I'm 17 years old . Everyone calls me a nerd because of my appearance which I didn't really care about.

I woke up then reach for my phone to look at the time and it shows 5:30 AM then I decided to to get ready for school, I took a long relaxing shower so I could pamper myself; something I don't usually do as I woke up to early and having trouble continuing my sleep.

I took my time washing my hair and body with different kinds of strawberry scented products. I quickly brushed my teeth during the shower before hopping out and wrapping myself with a towel.

After finishing I went to my closet and grab the first thing that I saw. Loose pants and a worn out gray T-shirt and then slipped them on easily and made my way to mirror in the corner to take a look at myself and what had I become.

My long blonde, almost white hair shone as I stared at them disapprovingly. I briskly wrapped them up into a bun and placed a messy black wig over it. My fake, large, thick rimmed glasses nicely hid my hazel eyes and I gave my reflection a slight, satisfied nod. The glasses covered up half of my face, which I preferred; as, due to this, no one would pay attention to me.

Yes, I had to wear a disguise to cover who I really was. I stared at the now unfamiliar girl in the mirror and wished that I could do something about my above average height. The girl behind the guise had beauty that destroyed her family. I couldn't let her live freely anymore. It sounds cliche but this is what I need to do for my mental health survival.

I couldn't help but remember my past, something that haunted me through nightmares every night. My Doctor had recommended me some specific sleeping pills due to this.

I walked downstairs to confirm that my mother came home last night. But, unfortunately, she didn't, as usual. She takes extra shifts just so she can distance herself from me. Well not that I really care though.

I grabbed an apple from the fridge for my breakfast to fill my stomach, close it the go out from house after locking the door and started walking towards my school, which is only a 15 minutes walks from my house.

The walks are really refreshing as the breeze swayed my hair gently while I breath a fresh air. Moment later I arrived at school and walked towards my locker, placing the unnecessary books I didn't require inside, while pulling out the books I needed.

I feel someone staring at me, when I turn my head to see who is staring sharply at me, I found Jessica Hunter looking at me, with an amused smirk plastered on her face, I just walk with my head hung down passing her on the way to my first class.

She was the cheerleader's team captain with long blonde hair, blue eyes and a slim figure. Just by looking at her, you could tell that she is 'The Queen Bitch'. I mean slut. I mean Queen Bee, whatever... you know what I mean. She doesn't like me anyway.

"Look who is here girls!" She announced to her wannabes as she points at me.

I didn't reply because I didn't want to attract attention towards myself.

"Woah, cat got your tongue nerdy?" She asks with a bit of annoyance in her voice.

I just rolled my eyes and pretended that she didn't exist; ignoring her and going directly to my class.

I knew they would prank me at lunch because Jessica always used to say, I quote " No one ignores me", thank you very much. I entered my classroom and took a seat at the back, near the window.

The teacher arrived not long after me and started his class. An hour later, the bell rang, all the students hurriedly exited the classroom for their next period, however, I took my time collecting my books and exiting the classroom.

Like always, I looked down when I walked. I went to my locker and put away my first period books, before grabbing my second period books. I had roughly 5 minutes until second period would start.

I started to walk to where my second period would start but, unfortunately, collided with a wall.

"Well- well, watch where you are going." The wall retorts. Wait what? Is there a wall that has a hand?. No right. Is there a wall that can speak? NO RIGHT?!!.

I snapped my head up to see a gorgeous male standing directly in front of me.

"I'm sorry." I said with a straight face, looking directly at him.

He had jet black hair, grey steel eyes and a sharp jaw line. God, now I could see all the girls drooling over him from around us. Did they have any self-respect for themselves? I was going to brush past him but he gripped my arm tightly then yanked me closer towards him.

"We are full of ourselves, aren't we?" He stated with a tight and annoyed smile as he tightened his grip.

"Am I? So, what do you want; because the last time I checked, I apologized" I retorted ignoring the pain he'd been giving me for minutes now.

I instantly slapped myself on the face, in my mind. Why did I have to stand up for myself?! I didn't want to attract attention to myself.

"Wow, this nerd has some nerve Jay. just give her a piece of your mind and let's go, I want to go flirt with some hot girls at the club" The guy next to him said. Club? Erm they're skipping classes to go to a 'club'. I wish you all good luck for your future as I will not be a part of it.

"Hey nerd, we are not finished yet but remember I will pay you back next time. No one talks to Jayden Grayson like that and get away with it." He seethed out, releasing his grip with a smirk on his face before walking off. What have I done? Did I wake the lion's up? That's pretty amusing; well, let's see what he will do then.

For seventeen years, I was the pride of the Carlisle family, the perfect daughter destined to inherit an empire. But that life ended the moment a DNA report slid across my father’s mahogany desk. The paper proved I was a stranger. Vanessa, the girl sobbing in the corner, was the real biological daughter they had been searching for. "You need to leave. Tonight. Before the press gets wind of this. Before the stock prices dip." My father’s voice was as cold as flint. My mother wouldn't even look at me, staring out the window at the gardens as if I were already a ghost. Just like that, I was erased. I left behind the Birkin bags and the diamonds, throwing my Centurion Card into a crystal bowl with a clatter that echoed like a gunshot. I walked out into the cold night and climbed into a rusted Ford Taurus driven by a man I had never met—my biological father. I went from a mansion to a fourth-floor walk-up in Queens that smelled of laundry detergent and struggle. My new siblings looked at me with a mix of fear and disgust, waiting for the "fallen princess" to break. They expected me to beg for my old life back, to crumble without the luxury I’d known since birth. But they didn't know the truth. I had spent years training in a shark tank, honing survival skills they couldn't imagine. While Richard Carlisle froze my trust funds to starve me out, my net worth was climbing by millions on an encrypted trading app. They thought they were throwing me to the wolves. They didn't realize they were just letting me off my leash. As the Carlisles prepared to debut Vanessa at the Manhattan Arts Gala, I was already making my move. "Get dressed. We're going to a party."

"Let's get married," Mia declares, her voice trembling despite her defiant gaze into Stefan's guarded brown eyes. She needs this, even if he seems untouchable. Stefan raises a skeptical brow. "And why would I do that?" His voice was low, like a warning, and it made her shiver even though she tried not to show it. "We both have one thing in common," Mia continues, her gaze unwavering. "Shitty fathers. They want to take what's ours and give it to who they think deserves it." A pointed pause hangs in the air. "The only difference between us is that you're an illegitimate child, and I'm not." Stefan studies her, the heiress in her designer armor, the fire in her eyes that matches the burn of his own rage. "That's your solution? A wedding band as a weapon?" He said ignoring the part where she just referred to him as an illegitimate child. "The only weapon they won't see coming." She steps closer, close enough for him to catch the scent of her perfume, gunpowder and jasmine. "Our fathers stole our birthrights. The sole reason they betrayed us. We join forces, create our own empire that'll bring down theirs." A beat of silence. Then, Stefan's mouth curves into something sharp. "One condition," he murmurs, closing the distance. "No divorces. No surrenders. If we're doing this, it's for life" "Deal" Mia said without missing a beat. Her father wants to destroy her life. She wouldn't give him the pleasure, she would destroy her life as she seems fit. ................ Two shattered heirs. One deadly vow. A marriage built on revenge. Mia Meyers was born to rule her father's empire (so she thought), until he named his bastard son heir instead. Stefan Sterling knows the sting of betrayal too. His father discarded him like trash. Now the rivals' disgraced children have a poisonous proposal: Marry for vengeance. Crush their fathers' legacies. Never speak of divorce. Whoever cracks first loses everything. Can these two rivals, united by their vengeful hearts, pull off a marriage of convenience to reclaim what they believe is rightfully theirs? Or will their fathers' animosity, and their own complicated pasts tear their fragile alliance apart?
