Pushing the door open I never expected to see a dark figure in the room with me. His arms tightened around his back and his legs strapped to the chair and his face covered in bruises. Instead of being the one saving myself I was saving him. I had no idea who he was or if I was putting myself in danger but I knew I had to get this man out of here. "Am I in heaven?" his deep voice says as I pull him up off the chair. When I actually looked at him and saw the height he had over me I nearly gasped. God, he was fucking beautiful, what the hell happened. My hormones were overdrive even though he looked completely fucked up. "You wish " I mumbled as I pushed him into the Uber. His saviour Chapter 1 One

"Hey pretty girl, come back to daddy so we can have fun " i heard his taunting voice as i ran away from the common bar. I'm not quite sure how I got here but as long as I am far away from that guy who tried to molest me I'm good.

When did guys get so disgusting with their behaviours towards women.

I checked my phone for the time and it was already one in the morning I can't believe Jess left me just so she could have a simple fuck tonight.

Walking my way down the street I needed to find some signal so I could order myself an Uber I swear living in the city You'd expect to have signal everywhere but in reality you get shit.

I quickly looked around and I saw building looked fucking scary but there is a small light on and I thought I could find safety in her hopefully I don't get molested again

I quickly took off my heels and creeped into this weird building it had like a weird sign at the front and the building look like fucking hospital scary one at that.

As I slowly walked inside the building I could see clearly what it was it was , a boxing ring an old one as well the building look like it was going to collapse on itself.

Taking a deep breath I grab myself a chair and sit on it so I could find myself an UBER, my phone still had about 50 percent battery thank God.

When I successfully ordered myself an Uber to pick me up which was outside. I relaxed , he probably take about five minutes to get here so I'm sure I can just sit here for while.

That's what I thought until I heard what sounded like very heavy breathing. The sound scared the crap out of me.

What the actually fuck.

I thought of just running off and being the good girl I am.

But instead I became very curious. I spooked down the room and followed the light.

There was a single light on at the end of the room

And when I took a better look I gasped.

"Shit" I muttered panicking like a mad woman.

That made me literally fall off my chair and when I fell still looking at that spot of light I only just realised the figure sitting on a Single chair facing me.

Holy fuck

That's not scary at all. I swear I need to stop watching paranormal shows this is like my worst nightmare.

Like the creep I am I slowly moved off the floor and walked carefully over to the side of the room.

He wasn't dead at least. I could see his chest moving slightly. Yea he was kind of shirtless and that made me clearly see the red slashes across his body.

Was he beaten up? Did he fight here with someone. Pretty coincidental place to do it.

When I reached him I poked his cheek before stepping back waiting for a reaction.

Maybe he will lift his head and start laughing like a crazy man and then he will kill me.

...

Did I seriously just think that.

Figuring he won't do me any harm I removed the tape from his lips and untied his ties from his arms.

And on the exact moment that his eyes snapped open I screamed bloody murder stepping back.

Did he have to do it like that.

Mustering the courage I stepped forward and untied the rope around his legs. From the door this probably would have looked very erotic.

I lifted my head when I felt his eyes on me.

"Am i in heaven" his deep voice says as I pull him up off the chair.

When I actually looked at him and saw the height he had over me I nearly gasped.

God he was fucking beautiful, what the hell happened he must have fucked some guys girl.

My hormones were in overdrive even though he looked completely fucked up.

"You wish " I mumbled as I pushed him into the Uber. Earning a deep chuckle from him.

The guy who picked us up had a first aid kit in his car so I started to work on this guys cuts.

" where should we drop you?" The driver said looking at the guy. I continued on his cuts as I waited for his response.

" her place" he said like that was the most obvious answer.

Uh what

" I've got to lay low for a while " he explained to me his eyes watching my reaction.

" why, did you do something ?" There I go being Curious again.

" no but the men that did that to me will be pissed when they come back and I'm gone" he shrugs his shoulders but suddenly winces obviously from the pain.

Yeah he had bruises all over his back as well.

"I'll only need one night " easier said than done. I can't just take in some stranger into my apartment.

" one night?" I asked him when we had stopped at a light.

From the look he was gov my me I didn't think he thought it would be that easy.

Neither did I.

" I need to figure out my next steps then I'll be out of your hair" is it just me or is this sounding really dodgy.

" what does ?" I begin to say but he quickly stops me from talking.

"Don't ask questions you don't want the answer to, sweetheart" he says slowly removing his hand from my mouth.

Did he just... I barely had time to think because we had arrived at my street.

We thanked the driver before stepping out. I had to practically drag him inside making Sure not to physically hurt him.

" you can sleep here, there's a bathroom over there" I told his pointing to the ensuite to this room.

"Thank you " he says attempt my a smile even with his busted lip.

"No probs" I said quickly leaving the room quickly.

I heard his low chuckle before he started to make random sounds.

I can't believe I'm letting him stay here.

I was once the heiress to the Solomon empire, but after it crumbled, I became the "charity case" ward of the wealthy Hyde family. For years, I lived in their shadows, clinging to the promise that Anson Hyde would always be my protector. That promise shattered when Anson walked into the ballroom with Claudine Chapman on his arm. Claudine was the girl who had spent years making my life a living hell, and now Anson was announcing their engagement to the world. The humiliation was instant. Guests sneered at my cheap dress, and a waiter intentionally sloshed champagne over me, knowing I was a nobody. Anson didn't even look my way; he was too busy whispering possessively to his new fiancée. I was a ghost in my own home, watching my protector celebrate with my tormentor. The betrayal burned. I realized I wasn't a ward; I was a pawn Anson had kept on a shelf until he found a better trade. I had no money, no allies, and a legal trust fund that Anson controlled with a flick of his wrist. Fleeing to the library, I stumbled into Dallas Koch—a titan of industry and my best friend’s father. He was a wall of cold, absolute power that even the Hydes feared. "Marry me," I blurted out, desperate to find a shield Anson couldn't climb. Dallas didn't laugh. He pulled out a marriage agreement and a heavy fountain pen. "Sign," he commanded, his voice a low rumble. "But if you walk out that door with me, you never go back." I signed my name, trading my life for the only man dangerous enough to keep me safe.

I was the titan of Wall Street until an indictment and an ankle monitor turned my penthouse into a gilded cage. To save face, I was forced into a marriage with Elza, a "mute" girl from the Schmidt family whom I treated as nothing more than a silent piece of furniture while my empire crumbled. The night I was poisoned at a high-society gala, a mysterious server in an oversized uniform saved my life with terrifying, clinical precision. They disappeared into the night, leaving me with a silver cufflink and a burning obsession to find the shadow who held my life in their hands. Back home, I took my frustration out on Elza, telling her she was "exhausting to look at" and "smelled like sickness" after her charity visits. Her own family treated her like a stray dog, trying to humiliate her at the next gala by dressing her in what they claimed was a cheap knockoff while whispering to the press that she was nothing but a high-end escort. "Stay out of my way," I would growl at her, never noticing the steel in her eyes. I sat at my table, watching my rivals' stocks plummet and wondering who "The Zero"—the legendary financial ghost—really was. I never suspected that the woman I ignored was the same one solving the equations that were currently burning Manhattan to the ground. The injustice peaked when Elza stood before the city's elite, not as a victim, but as a queen. She dropped over a hundred million dollars to buy back her family’s legacy, revealing a secret fortune that made my own empire look like pocket change. As I grabbed her wrist and saw the small red mole hidden beneath her watch, the truth hit me like a physical blow. The silent wife I had despised was the savior I had been hunting, and she was finally done playing the victim. "We have a lot to talk about, wife," I whispered, realizing I had been sleeping next to the most dangerous woman in the world.

I went to the City Clerk’s office for a routine copy of my marriage license to finalize a trust fund audit. I expected a simple piece of paper, but the clerk’s pitying look told me my entire life was a lie. "The license was never finalized, Ms. Oliver. In the eyes of the state, you are single." The three-hundred-guest wedding at the Plaza and the Vogue features meant nothing. My husband, Gray Cooley, had intentionally filed the documents with a "procedural defect" so he could discard me without a legal divorce. Moments later, an iCloud invite titled "Our Little Secret" popped up on my screen. It was a photo of my best friend, Brylee, holding a positive pregnancy test at our Hamptons estate. Gray’s text to her was the final blow: "Happy anniversary, babe. This baby is the best gift. Once the trust unlocks today, we’re done with the charade." I soon discovered they were even stealing my career, reassigning my architectural masterpiece to Brylee while preparing my eviction notice. Gray's mother called me a "barren mule" in a leaked recording, mocking the infertility I suffered after saving Gray’s life in a construction accident. I wasn't a wife; I was a three-year placeholder used to secure his inheritance. How could the man I bled for treat me like a disposable prop? How could my best friend carry his child while pretending to comfort me through my darkest moments? The betrayal burned until it turned into a cold, hard stone of fury. I didn't cry. Instead, I walked into the penthouse of the Barretts, the Cooleys' most powerful rivals. I signed a marriage contract with Kane Barrett, the man the tabloids called the "Beast of Wall Street." "I want a wedding," I told his father, my voice steady and lethal. "Bigger than the one I had with Gray." If they wanted me gone, they would have to watch me become the woman who owns their world.
