Chapter 1 1

"Jellyfish, help!" I screamed from the top of my lungs as a soft and slimy thing brushed against my legs.

Wriggling my body and kicking my leg to shake it off, I could only watch in horror as the gelatinous, invertebrate animal floated away from me. I had heard how dangerous some of them could be and that their stings could be very painful. Some of its species are even lethal.

"Anybody who can get a vinegar?" a voice rang in my head before a pair of strong arms lifted me from the water. I got stunned when I saw that it was Mr. Kim.

Just a while ago, I took a plunge under the water after a strange emotion overwhelmed me. Mr. Kim Mori, the man in my dreams, just punished me with a glass of wine after losing a game. It was a swimming competition under the moonlit night where I lost consecutively for three rounds. Who could ever win under his gaze? I even felt like dying in thrill and excitement every time he looked at me.

I knew I had no right to feel this way; he just got married to a woman younger than me while I was also engaged to Zed, a man I was in a relationship with for seven long years. Aside from that, Mr. Kim Mori was the man behind Kim Yuan Microelectronics, Philippines. And I knew that the branch in Mactan Export Processing Zone, Cebu, Philippines was just one among the branches around the globe.

So, he was someone impossible for an ordinary accountant like me. He was as high and unreachable as the moon while I was just mud in the earth. Yet, I couldn't help myself from getting infatuated with him. Watching him through news portals and even through tabloids and magazines always made my day. And I didn't know what caused this madness within me because he was not a celebrity but a business magnate.

I only returned to my senses when I felt the hardness of the chaise lounge's surface. Mr. Kim put me down on it while the rest of the workers gathered. Then, someone came panting, handing out a bottle of vinegar.

"Here, Mr. Kim!" the all-too-familiar voice made me look up together with Mr. Kim. She rolled out her eyes at me after Mr. Kim took the bottle from her hand. I also felt like giggling.

"You should see a doctor if the pain gets unbearable," he murmured while glancing at me and while pouring the spicy and pungent fluid in my thigh.

I got caught in between looking at my stung leg and his face. It was when I realized I was only wearing a two-piece swimsuit. Before I dove into the water, I remembered tossing my swimwear cover-up in the chaise lounge where I placed my towel.

My face apparently drained its color because Mr. Kim looked at me worriedly. He probably thought I got scared of the sting since a jellyfish could be venomous. Yet, little did he know that it was because I was suddenly conscious of my nudity before him. I even caught him glancing secretly at the bulge between my thighs. And I knew the wet cloth had outlined the slit between the curves of my bottom lips.

"How do you feel?" he asked, looking into my eyes.

"I'm fine, Mr. Kim. I think that jellyfish is not the venomous type."

I suddenly got confused about how to position myself. If I pull myself up into an upright posture, his face would be closer to my full-sized busts. If I stay in my reclined position, he would have a clearer view of the thing between my thighs. And I turned paler at this thought because I had been fantasizing about him in bed. I was too scared that my reaction would show.

"Are you sure?" he asked. He was so close to me that I could even smell the alcohol through his breathing. For all those many games he lost, he would probably be drunk by now. The activity facilitators had never come up with other means of punishment except for letting the losers drink a glass of wine.

"Yes, sir. I just need a bath."

"Okay. I'll bring you to your room," he offered; and that was to carry me bridal style.

"No, sir! I can walk."

"No, sir. She must be tipsy already," came Ara's voice. I hurried to glance at her, only to find her grinning like a fool.

Mr. Kim straightened up and looked at Ara, perhaps considering what she said. Then, he lifted me from the chaise lounge without a word then sauntered towards the direction of our cottage. I noticed that there were times that he also stepped backward and staggered. Crazy as I was, I took advantage of this moment by staring into his face. I even got the nerve of hooking my arms around his neck. Perhaps, it was already the alcohol kicking in, but I didn't regret it. This moment may never happen again.

I then heard the sound of a twisting doorknob and a creaking door. A few seconds after that, my back already felt the soft cushion of the bed. Perhaps, I was so heavy that he was in a hurry to put me down, he did not turn the light on. But probably because of the light coming from the bathroom, I could still see him well.

Due to my weight and my arms around his neck, his face was so close to me when my head finally hit the bed. I got stunned for a moment and suddenly woke up to reality. My eyes widened as I looked back at him, and I realized that he was also staring at me. My heartbeats immediately turned a frenzy, and before I could take a breath, his lips closed on mine.

I stiffened for a moment, but his warm lips on my mouth gave me a strange and wonderful feeling. My mind was also screaming that it's already my fantasy coming true. And as what my thoughts had dictated, I found myself refusing to resist.

I kissed him back in equal fervor until his moves got deeper. He probed his tongue inside my mouth, and I met it with excitement. Soon, we took turns at twirling, probing, and sucking until a sense of pleasure broke within me. I suddenly wanted more of him that I didn't stop him when his hands started squeezing my soft cup. At first, he was gentle, but as we continued on exploring with our mouths, his squeezing became rough and possessive.

I moaned and arched my back to give him more of me until he took the cue. He then replaced his hands on my peaks with his mouth. He did it so slowly, teasing and taunting me. When his slow moves seemed to blow my mind away, I begged.

"More, please," I murmured as I tossed my body forward, begging for more exploration.

He listened after a while, and then I felt his lips went downward. I closed my eyes, feeling every inch of his touch until I felt my bikini slipping down. My heart almost stopped when I felt his tongue tracing my slit. When he finally found my button and closed his lips on it, I screamed. And I kept screaming until a surge of pleasure broke inside me, making my whole body tremble.

I no longer knew when Mr. Kim left the room. I closed my eyes for a long time, feeling the thrill of such an experience. When I opened my eyes, he was no longer there. I knew I couldn't hold him responsible for what he did; it was all my fault and the alcohol in my system. But this was something I would never forget, a memory that would last for a lifetime.

I had been a wife for exactly six hours when I woke up to the sound of my husband’s heavy breathing. In the dim moonlight of our bridal suite, I watched Hardin, the man I had adored for years, intertwined with my sister Carissa on the chaise lounge. The betrayal didn't come with an apology. Hardin stood up, unashamed, and sneered at me. "You're awake? Get out, you frumpy mute." Carissa huddled under a throw, her fake tears already welling up as she played the victim. They didn't just want me gone; they wanted me erased to protect their reputations. When I refused to move, my world collapsed. My father didn't offer a shoulder to cry on; he threatened to have me committed to a mental asylum to save his business merger. "You're a disgrace," he bellowed, while the guards stood ready to drag me away. They had spent my life treating me like a stuttering, submissive pawn, and now they were done with me. I felt a blinding pain in my skull, a fracture that should have broken me. But instead of tears, something dormant and lethal flickered to life. The terrified girl who walked down the aisle earlier that day simply ceased to exist. In her place, a clinical system—the Valkyrie Protocol—booted up. My racing heart plummeted to a steady sixty beats per minute. I didn't scream. I stood up, my spine straightening for the first time in twenty years, and looked at Hardin with the detachment of a surgeon looking at a tumor. "Correction," I said, my voice stripped of its stutter. "You're in my light." By dawn, I had drained my father's accounts, vanished into a storm, and found a bleeding Crown Prince in a hidden safehouse. They thought they had broken a mute girl. They didn't realize they had just activated their own destruction.

I had just survived a private jet crash, my body a map of violet bruises and my lungs still burning from the smoke. I woke up in a sterile hospital room, gasping for my husband's name, only to realize I was completely alone. While I was bleeding in a ditch, my husband, Adam, was on the news smiling at a ribbon-cutting ceremony. When I tracked him down at the hospital's VIP wing, I didn't find a grieving husband. I found him tenderly cradling his ex-girlfriend, Casie, in his arms, his face lit with a protective warmth he had never shown me as he carried her into the maternity ward. The betrayal went deeper than I could have imagined. Adam admitted the affair started on our third anniversary-the night he claimed he was stuck in London for a merger. Back at the manor, his mother had already filled our planned nursery with pink boutique bags for Casie's "little princess." When I demanded a divorce, Adam didn't flinch. He sneered that I was "gutter trash" from a foster home and that I'd be begging on the streets within a week. To trap me, he froze my bank accounts, cancelled my flight, and even called the police to report me for "theft" of company property. I realized then that I wasn't his partner; I was a charity case he had plucked from obscurity to manage his life. To the Hortons, I was just a servant who happened to sleep in the master bedroom, a "resilient" woman meant to endure his abuse in silence while the whole world laughed at the joke that was my marriage. Adam thought stripping me of his money would make me crawl back to him. He was wrong. I walked into his executive suite during his biggest deal of the year and poured a mug of sludge over his original ten-million-dollar contracts. Then, right in front of his board and his mistress, I stripped off every designer thread he had ever paid for until I was standing in nothing but my own silk camisole. "You can keep the clothes, Adam. They're as hollow as you are." I grabbed my passport, turned my back on his billions, and walked out of that glass tower barefoot, bleeding, and finally free.

For seventeen years, I was the crown jewel of the Kensington empire, the perfect daughter groomed for a royal future. Then, a cream-colored envelope landed in my lap, bearing a gold crest and a truth that turned my world into ice. The DNA test result was a cold, hard zero percent-I wasn't a Kensington. Before the ink could even dry, my parents invited my replacement, a girl named Alleen, into the drawing room and treated me like a trespasser in my own home. My mother, who once hosted galas in my honor, wouldn't even look me in the eye as she stroked Alleen's arm, whispering that she was finally "safe." My father handed me a one-million-dollar check-a mere tip for a billionaire-and told me to leave immediately to avoid tanking the company's stock price. "You're a thief! You lived my life, you spent my money, and you don't get to keep the loot!" Alleen shrieked, trying to claw the designer jacket off my shoulders while my "parents" watched with clinical detachment. I was dumped on a gritty sidewalk in Queens with nothing but three trunks and the address of a struggling laborer I was now supposed to call "Dad." I traded a marble mansion for a crumbling walk-up where the air smelled of exhaust and my new bedroom was a literal storage closet. My biological family thought I was a broken princess, and the Kensingtons thought they had successfully erased me with a payoff and a non-disclosure agreement. They had no idea that while I was hauling trunks up four flights of stairs, my secret media empire was already preparing to move against them. As I sat on a thin mattress in the dark, I opened my encrypted laptop and sent a single command that would cost my former father ten million dollars by breakfast. They thought they were throwing me to the wolves, but they forgot one thing: I'm the one who leads the pack.
